Andy Murray Crushed Roger Federer to Win Olympic Gold in Tennis at Wimbledon
Andy Murray defeated Roger Federer in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 to capture the gold medal in Olympic tennis. Murray blasted an ace past Federer on match point and Centre Court at Wimbledon erupted in cheer.
For Murray, who has never won a Grand Slam event – he’s been runner-up four times, and three of those times, he’s lost to Federer – it was the greatest victory of his career.
The gold for Great Britian was the first in tennis in 104 years.

Let’s not get carried away, this is not the same as beating Fed at Wimbledon. Mattered way more to Murray.

Federer was all smiles at the net when it was over. Felt like charity more than anything else.

Maybe now the British press will back-off a little bit and give him some praise. It’s nice to see that he won gold.

Nonsense that this didn’t matter to Federer-he was almost in tears after beating Delpo in the semis, and he has made it known how much a gold medal means to him. Murray has greatly closed the gap between him and the big 3. Fact is if the roof stayed open 4 weeks ago, Murray was on his way to his first Grand Slam. Missed those smiles at the net-I saw a crushed Fed being as gracious as he could.

With as good as Federer was/is, I don’t understand why he could never pull a gold medal out. If I’m not mistaken, that’s about the only peak he’s yet to climb.

do you post solely to link to your website?

easy a.p. longtime commenters here will tell you i used to link to my past work or Mr. Mom blog every chance I got
so what? if you don’t self promote, who will do it for you? you simply don’t have to read what he links and certainly don’t need to be harsh. it’s not important enough to maybe make someone feel bad
/don;t know how thick his skin is

Federer was simply not used to having the entire crowd rooting against him. The tickets were much more available to the general public than the Wimbledon event.
