Beach volleyball has cheerleaders. Olympic beach volleyball has cheerleaders. This continues to confound me. Why do you need women in bikinis to cheer for women in bikinis? Even then, they aren’t like regular sports cheerleaders where their main goal is to encourage the crowd to cheer for the home team. They’re just there to dance and keep the people in the stands entertained between sets? It’s a strange thing, especially when you consider this is the Olympics and not a beer commercial. Cheerleaders are not necessary in beach volleyball. If cheerleaders belong at the Olympics, they should be at the race-walking event or ping pong. Beach volleyball has this covered.
