“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1. I have never seen Heaven, I have never seen angels. But I believe they exist. I have never seen God, but I believe I will stand before him one day. The faith I have is not “Blind.” I have seen God’s work and felt his presence. I do not believe He exists because of what someone has told me. I also realize that God does not care if I score a goal in my last soccer game, or whether my team wins its next game. It is sport, and not something on which God spends a lot of time.

Remember the Tebow shirtless video in the rain from last week? SI’s Peter King referred to the coverage of it as “the most valid example of the decline of Western civilization in, oh, decades.”

As a Christian I am offended by the attention Tebow gets.

Tim Tebow has never pushed his religion on me. Never knocked on my door to tell me about this guy named Jesus. ESPN on the other hand… and Jason McIntyre on the other hand. I think ESPN sucks and don’t watch it. I stopped commenting here as much because the posts were just too inane. If Jason hadn’t written this, I wouldn’t be thinking or talking about Tebow’s religion. So I’m not blaming Tebow, I’m blaming Jason.

As a Christian I am offended by the attention Tebow gets. He wears it like a badge, and I am not convinced it isn’t contrived. I think he comes across as simple and not the least bit thoughtful. Everything he says are platitudes from his faith. He shows no ability to think for himself. Even as a devout Christian, I would feel better about him if I thought his positions were the result of actual thoughtful faith rather than “blind” faith.

What is the fascination with Tebow? He’s 9-7 with god awful statistics. If its because he wears his religion on his sleeve, then why isn’t Matt Cain getting this much coverage. He actually has a World Series Ring, is an elite player, makes 20 million per, and does Bible Study through Skype with Ian Kennedy during games.

I don’t get why everyone considers anything above New York City as upstate New York. That is not upstate New York. More like central. When half your signs and TV channels are in French, welcome to upstate New York.

Tebow’s humility is pretty overrated – he sure manages to do a lot of things that just coincidentally get the camera’s attention. He’s been in the public eye since he was 18 – he knows how it works. And if he’s truly an icon, that word has really gotten cheapened over the years.
