Aly Raisman was one of the many young girls NBC made sure to broadcast crying after dark Sunday night. Unlike teammate Jordyn Wieber, Raisman’s tears were mostly that of joy as she qualified for the individual all-around event along with Gabby Douglas. While Raisman’s profile was raised, the real stars were her parents who were show convulsing on tape-delay. [gif via Guyism]

My older sister did gymnastics all the way up through high school. I’ve been watching it since I was a little kid, so count me as a guy who gets way too into it. I was screaming bloody murder when Jordyn got screwed by the scoring last night.

cleet – i have a sister-in-law who is a trainer at a high level in this sport, and i have been lucky enough to see world-class caliber girls up close a few times and I am amazed by their talent. I can totally get into gymnastics.

In one college class, I sat next to a girl from the gyumnastics team all semester. I’m not into gymnastics, but believe me, I wanted to be into that gymnast.

Can we please get the cameras off the families and spouses.
Every Olympic athlete has had people help them over the years. It’s really not a story.
I also believe that if there is no camera, then these people don’t act this way.
Everyone’s looking for 15 min which might develop into a reality show.
