NBC Execs Think You Should Stop Whining About Tape Delay, and Live Stream Issues Are Your Fault

NBC has received a substantial amount of criticism for its tape-delayed Olympic coverage thus far. The responses have been almost uniformly arrogant.

Vivian Schiller, chief digital officer for NBC News, gave a “+1″ to a tweet suggesting viewers stop whining about the tape-delayed coverage they complain about every four years.

Rick Cordella, VP and general manager of NBC Sports Digital Media, assured Richard Sandomir that problems with the live streaming of events were likely your fault.

Rick Cordella, vice president and general manager of NBC Sports Digital Media, said from London that extensive troubleshooting so far suggests that the technical problems might be with the bandwidth provided by cable operators, or users’ computers or devices.

Could have directed some of the resources spent going after third-party streaming and YouTube videos to ensure your own streams worked. Just a thought. [Note: As of right now, I can't get the livestream]

I’d really like to see television execs get more openly aggressive against people who want to watch TV in ways besides live/when broadcast, from 7pm to 10pm Central Standard Time. Like, just mocking people in interviews or in social media. “What, Mr. Big Shot, you can’t see the finale of Psych because you pulled the night shift at Arby’s? GET A REAL JOB!” Or, “Oooh, I’m going to time shift, aren’t I just the coolest hipster ever?”

Just go to war with your viewers, you might Stockholm Syndrome enough to keep yourself relevant long term.

Not really. NBC would have to pretend to not see the complaints, tell people to email the “tech department”, and not resolve the problem for a week. THEN the comparison would be apt.

Yeah so if you want to watch the Olympics live fucking go to London and watch it live until then shut the fuck up already about your irrelevant first world problems with a service you’re not directly paying for out of pocket and even your measly indirectly payments does not necessarily specify any particular level of service.

Everyone likes to pile on NBC for doing only a decent job of navigating what must be a massive technological, scheduling and logistical nightmare just because some dank scrotum insult of a carbon based life form cannot watch that air rifle event exactly when and how it wants that one time it wanted to. Before there was the option of online streaming we all managed to not develop brain tumors as a result.

Whiners especially of the predictable and petty variety are always more annoying than what is being whined about. So yeah Olympic coverage so consistently sucks but for some reason every year the dipshits show up in droves to complain about it. hey instead of subjecting yourself to the torture of tape delay or a choppy stream next time around buy a large satellite dish and watch the Bulgarian feed or better yet do humanity a solid and go catch a javelin.

Comcast owns NBC and some comcast users have experienced issues..so…NBC should essentially blame itself

I see so NBC spent all its magic fix-it spray and prayer offerings getting rid of illegal streams and when nothing was left for the actual livestream congratulatory butt slaps were exchanged at HQ and everyone put on sleeping masks and retired for the night.

Why in the world would NBC want the actual livestream to work? If they did they would have brought in some fucktard with a twitter handle or genius blogger to point out the obvious errors in the system and recommend a quick fix.

Also watching water polo looks a lot like watching Kendrick Perkins on a fast break or Antonio Gates on a go route. It just seems stuff should be happening quicker than it is.
