Video (Game): Dream Team vs. 2008 Men’s Olympic Basketball Team
People have been debating the Dream Team versus this year’s London Olympic team for the last few weeks. We will never know who would win if those two squads played, but we can dream. And with video games, we can simulate. Someone did just that using NBA 2K12 and the results are kind of cool. That’s not to say that like The Dark Knight Rises, there aren’t plenty of problems.
Dwight Howard and Dwyane Wade are prominently featured. Also, Jason Kidd, Tayshaun Prince and Michael Redd make appearances. I’m not even going to mention the Carmelo Anthony 360-alley-oop. Finally, how can you make this and not show us how the simulation ended? Not that I need a video game to tell me LeBron scores the last 10 points of the game for the 2012 and then blocks Jordan at the buzzer. [via Nate Jones]

I feel like this is a thing, that isn’t really a thing. Only Kobe thinks its true.

July 26th, 2012 at 11:34 AM

TWITTER IS DOWN OH NO
Oh good! I thought work had blocked it

To me it’s only a healthy Dwight away from being a thing.

Yeah, I can’t even get the fail whale now. Just times out.

I kinda want the ’12 team to get Silver. After Wade’s “pay” comment, Kobe creating this whole “we are better” thing, part of me hopes they don’t get the gold just to shut them up.

I will always read this with Matthew McConaughey’s Time to Kill voice.

I fear that Chip Douglas has been a LeBron apologist/satirist for so long that he’s actually starting to believe what he writes and tweets about the young man.

What if the white Mike Vick was black?
July 26th, 2012 at 11:56 AM
Melo getting a 360 alley-oop dunk with Ewing or the Admiral and Malone or Barkley down low isn’t happening. The ending is the Dream team realizing that there isn’t anyone on that team that can fuck with the two centers on their team so they just let those two abuse chandler and dwight

What if white Mike Vick was black but acted white?

Its crazy how often Twitter goes down. For all the flack Facebook gets, Ive never had issues with it being down. Has there ever been any explanation for it?
July 26th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Too many people re-Tweeting Adarn Shefter at once
Can’t watch this video, is it actually Jordan in the game or G#23, the greatest video game basketball player of our youth?

Whenever twitter goes down, I feel jittery. Been trying to refresh the site countless times over past hour. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of twitter. Such a great tool.

Also, ESPN’s front page has headlines from July 6. Is the internet coming apart at the seams?!?
July 26th, 2012 at 12:04 PM
LOL at the first 5 links on ESPN.com headlines starting with the word ‘SOURCES:’ So annoying.-
July 26th, 2012 at 12:09 PM
Are sources bribed by writers to spill the beans or is most of it team controlled but they just don’t want to fully tip their hand about stuff?
July 26th, 2012 at 12:10 PM
I’m not even going to mention the Carmelo Anthony 360-alley-oop.
You just did.
LOL at the first 5 links on ESPN.com headlines starting with the word ‘SOURCES:’ So annoying.-
Do you prefer, “We’ve been told…” instead “sources?”
July 26th, 2012 at 12:12 PM
It’s a headline. Why the need to qualify at all?
July 26th, 2012 at 12:15 PM
It’s a headline. Why the need to qualify at all? CJ
Oh, I mostly agree. “We’ve been told” is TBL’s way of doing it.
July 26th, 2012 at 12:15 PM
I mean really “Sources: Revis reports to camp” is pretty easily verified. You dont need to hedge. Reporters have always had sources, that’s how things are written. Why the sudden need for everything being qualified nowadays? Scared to be wrong or something?
July 26th, 2012 at 12:16 PM
Personally I like “Hey yo check this out”
July 26th, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Culpability. It gives the reporter a scapegoat should the information be invalid. The source was wrong then, not the reporter. It’s just a safety net.
July 26th, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Uhoh there’s also a story on there about MLB contraction.

Reinsdorf’s still holding out hope that the Twins get the ax
July 26th, 2012 at 12:22 PM
So is this site going to have any kind of Olympic preview post in the next day or so?
How about just any posts?

A better debate is the ’96 team against this team.
Shaq, Olajuwon and Robinson taking turns at center.
July 26th, 2012 at 12:34 PM
I’m not even going to mention how good this comment is.
July 26th, 2012 at 1:04 PM
No need for the dramatic music considering the Dream Team would have won by 30
