I think a good play with Rivers is taking him as a part of a later round tandem. Hope he pans out but if he doesn’t you have another solid option.

Ryan finished the season on a tear. Weeks 9-16 (didn’t play all of W17) he averaged 300 yards/game with 18 TD and 4 picks, or 19.5 points/game, which would’ve been good enough for QB6 overall over a full season. I’m buying the “leap” this year.

Funny, I took Ryan last year in the later rounds and he turned out OK. I was actually thinking along the same lines here, especially with Julio coming back. With everyone trying to snag Brees, Rodgers, or Brady in the first, I’ll snag a RB or WR and grab a Ryan-esque QB later.

Ryan, meanwhile is entering an age when some notable quarterbacks made a statistical leap, and does so with an offense now built around him. Michael Turner is not going to carry the ball 350 times. Julio Jones is ready to continue his breakout in year two after a pretty good rookie year. Roddy White is still going strong. He may have one of the best situations to succeed in the league.

Agree with everything you just said here. But you are forgetting one thing. The guy has a noodle arm. What good is deep threats when you don’t have a quarterback to take advantage of it. I’ve watched him since day 1. He truly is checkdown charlie.
