Actually, the Marlins got Hanley’s good years, and at a great price. They did eveything right here, and now the Dodgers can carry this millstone.

I don’t totally disagree with you, but he is still young. And I’ll bet you when the time comes for a new contract, he will magically remember how to swing a bat.

I thought about that while I typed. It’s true, at least I enjoyed 2 titles. Look, Hanley hasn’t played like a $14 million dollar player over the last two years. But when you think about how many studs have worn a Marlins jersey only to be traded away it is painful. Adrian Gonzalez (drafted by us), Miguel Cabrera, Dan Uggla, Josh Willingham, Josh Beckett, AJ Burnett (at least he was great when we traded him), Derek Lee, etc. We let Pudge go. My apologies to Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and KC fans for my indelicateness.

The paper also suggests that LA is in play for Ryan Dempster, who appears to be lukewarm about the idea of going to Atlanta.

If so, I wonder why? Atlanta would be a better fit for Dempster – better team, better offense.

The Dodgers need hitting (say goodbye to James Loney). Their pitching is good enough to get to the postseason. They need Ramirez to go on a hitting rampage for a couple of weeks or so.
