Brett McMurphy Leaves CBS Sports For ESPN
Brett McMurphy, the news-breaking college football reporter at CBS Sports, has accepted an offer from ESPN, The Big Lead has learned. McMurphy will start in two weeks, and be a college football insider for the network in the same position as Joe Schad. Expect to see McMurphy on TV a lot.
He’s a significant loss for CBS Sports, which in the last year has added a roster full of newsbreakers – Jeff Goodman, Jon Heyman and Bruce Feldman – that has primarily helped them dominate breaking news in the college sports space (Heyman covers MLB).
It’s about time ESPN got Joe Schad some help. After losing Feldman and Pat Forde in the 13 months, ESPN was essentially running a distant third to CBS and Yahoo when it came to college sports news.
