Brook Lopez: Comic Books Don’t Mention Dwight Howard
Brook Lopez, the $61 million man, to the media Wednesday about all the Dwight Howard rumors: “I don’t read what you guys write. I read a lot of comic books and they don’t mention Dwight Howard.”
Back when I collected baseball cards – elementary school up through about 7th grade – I also dabbled in comic book collecting. GI Joe, Excalibur, the Avengers and Punisher? Good times.
The latest Dwight Howard rumor, should you care: The Lakers obviously want Howard, and apparently the feeling is mutual, according to RealGM. Now someone just needs to convince Andrew Bynum that Orlando is the place he’d like to spend the next half decade. (Yes, Dwight Howard wants to be Shaq – first Superman, now leaving Orlando for LA?)
Houston and Atlanta are probably massively bummed out … but fear not, Rockets and Hawks fans – as we saw with the Brooklyn situation, trading Dwight Howard is not going to be easy.

If Howard was a comic character, he’d be Gladiator – praetor of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard.
A Superman knockoff whose powers wane when his confidence is shaken, that sounds like Howard to me.
