Joe Paterno Statue Being Protected, Sadly, by Penn State Students

All, Penn State Scandal Stephen Douglas July 18th. 2012, 11:52am

Joe Paterno’s statue will not fall tonight. At least not if these dudes have anything to say about it. Armed with nothing but an iPhone, a chin strap and a piece of poster board, these sad Penn State students are standing up for the statue of the disgraced Penn State football coach. According to tweets culled by CBS Sports, these unidentified students claimed other students were “on the way.”

One the one hand, these guys have a point. If the statue is taken down, it should be done so through the proper channels. This mess hasn’t given anyone the right to vandalize or destroy Penn State property. Rogue students tearing down the statue will only go to further tarnish the campus’ reputation. On the other hand, if they decide to take the statue down, these dummies better pack up. No one should have any understanding for either of them if they end up chained to the JoePa statue like its an oil derrick in the hall at Bayside High.

3. they have to leave to go get dirty again

Apparently, “a helicopter with a claw, like from one of those claw machines with stuffed animals” does NOT indicate that I was joking and realize that the statue is bolted down. However when I visualize a helicopter with a claw tearing the statue away I picture it in Simpson animation.

mrejr – it was indeed. didn’t have a whole lotta time to find a more relevant video. However, what IS relevant is a friend of mine using his old K5 diesel Blazer to snatch bushes and trees out of neighborhood yards for old people.
/did it at least 10 times, at $20 bucks a pop.

i lived not far from the Delaware river on the NW NJ side and with all the time i spent in PA, i saw more DIY camo trucks than i’ve seen anywhere else. the evolution to at least a half-track would not surprise me.

Pennsyltucky is everyone but the Pittsburgh and Philly metro areas in my book. And this doesn’t surprise me about all of the camo trucks. I would seriously nuke the rest of the state if it were up to me.

Rory McIlroy 16/1 – great value and he’s proved he can play really well despite being off-form in prior weeks
Jason Dufner 40/1 – could’ve won at Olympic
Ernie Els 40/1 – better form; greens running very slow and his ballstriking still elite; great set up for him; experience
Nick Watney 66/1 – he’s been re-working game for bigger events
Anders Romero 125/1 – recent form good; been deep at the Open before; great value;
The last four winners of Lytham held the #1 OWGR ranking one time on their career; Also winning there are Gary Player, Jacklin and Thomson – all greats. If that trend is indicative of the overall game needed to contend, obviously we’d use a very narrow list of candidates.
The last six holes are all tough par 4′s. Pure ballstriking will be a priority. Tiger said the greens are running closer to 10 than a 10.5. Very narrow landing areas off the tee.

Yeah, I tend to go by the course, taking into effect impact of course renovations and the predicted climate.
For example, history says there’s a good chance half the field will get drilled by bad weather. So make sure you have a pick on both sides of the draw. If Romero can do well late THUR, he’s got an earlier time on FRI. I saw there was a new betting thing for taking odds based on a top-ten finish. My work precludes gambling sites but those are fun. I’d throw a $5 or $10 on all those guys for a top ten.
