The pendulum just swings from one extreme, one hyperbole to the next. There will be a ground swell of hatred towards Paterno with everyone jumping on the bandwagon until a small subset decides to take the contrarian point of view to be different. People will get tired of the villification and group think and then the pendulum will start to swing back in the other direction (JoPa wasn’t really THAT bad, he was a decent guy who did a lot right but made a horrible, horrible decision….get off his back). Then some other scandal will come along and people will more or less stop caring.
