i thought the point of the e-mail exposure was to show that he, contrary to his defenders’ claims, could work a computer and knew how to e-mail, as well as counter any claims that he did not have influence over others. not that the pulling of strings for fb discipline was a gateway to worse

I cant shake the feeling that this entire investigation is designed to uncover evidence in support of a pre-ordained conclusion. Using isolated disciplinary incidents as evidence that Paterno would cover up child rape is absurd to the point of embarrassment. Unless there’s concrete evidence that Paterno sheltered a known pedophile, I’m going to have a hard time giving a shit about any of this.

Freeh’s team interviewed over 400 people for this report. Paterno and his family supported the investigation and actively sought an interview with Freeh. They were denied. What possible purpose would Freeh have to do that, especially considering the investigation centered around Paterno’s role in this mess? Even if it was to provide a buffer against claims of fairness? Makes no sense.

Yep. Let the reports and foi and sunshine requests filter out and do a piece comparing before/after. Could take years for data to come out. That just a terrible deal for a feature writer. no win sceneario. I am sure some Time Warner execs were think JoePos was going to be Joe Galloway reporting from the battlefieds of vietnam. But that’s idiotic. Simon & Schuster should put this on the shelf and come back in a few years.
