Home Run Derby Fight: Royals Fans Brawl Until the Cops Arrive with Mace
Fans at last night’s MLB All-Star festivities were on edge because none of their hometown players were in the Home Run Derby. Early in the evening they voiced their displeasure by cheering for Robinson Cano’s continued failure to hit a single home run. Later in the evening, some fans fought in the stands and the cops nearly had to use the pepper spray.

Pretty cool experience to be out here for all this stuff. That said, how in the blue fuck do you get in a fight at the Home Run Derby? Liquidate these turds.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Wow its really dead in here lately. Let’s try a new topic.
Best Keanu Reeves movies:
Point Break
Speed
Devil’s Advocate
Hard Ball (not really)

I saw your pick on twitter on the rail, must have been pretty awesome to be there live. Its brutal on ESPN now though.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
clearly alcohol was not involved with this matter, he was just incredibly upset about the terrible format of the event and John Kruk eating all the ribs.

Bill & Ted’s
Speed
Constantine
Honorable mention: The Replacements.

It’s pretty surreal. We have standing room only tickets and have managed to score seats in the same spot the first two days. There’s a section of patio furniture above the fountains and that has been a life saver for the wife so far. Hoping to get lucky again today.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:51 AM
The Matrix
I think the 2nd and 3rd ones ruined the memory of the 1st one for me.

While this whole thing is humorous, I’m willing to bet that most people here actually thought Billy Butler deserved to be in the HRD….completely overlooking the fact that he never hit more than 21 home runs in a year.
People here are loyal to a fault.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Point Break and Parenthood.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Ohhhhhhhhhhh … good one. Forgot about that one
July 10th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
They ever explain why the cheerleaders were on strike too?
July 10th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Spot on
July 10th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
I’d put his early role in Parenthood ahead of most of the movies he has done, aside from Matrix, Bill and Ted’s, Point Break, and maybe A Scanner Darkly.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
I enjoyed Constantine a lot
July 10th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
that’s fightin’ words on this site, too.

July 10th, 2012 at 11:56 AM
Matrix
Devils Advocate
Point Break
July 10th, 2012 at 11:56 AM
Parenthood
Good call, forgot about that one. And obv left off Bill and Ted’s in my rush to get the original post up. Completely unacceptable.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:56 AM
if you watch the 1st one again and forget about the 2nd and 3rd ones it actually holds up pretty well after all this time. and if you go so far as to pretend the 2nd and third never happened, the ending to the first one is even better.
fight club is due for another viewing soon, though, speaking of 1999 movies.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:57 AM
The Matrix, Point Break, Bill and Teds, My Own Private Idaho, the “Rush, Rush” video.

Why? We didn’t tell Cano to not pick Butler. I don’t speak Spanish so he wouldn’t understand me anyway even if I did.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:58 AM
While the movies were weak, the highway chase scene in the 2nd Matrix was one of the best action sequences of all time. The logistics involved are mind boggling.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:59 AM
The Matrix (the first one…fuck those other ones)
Point Break
Devil’s Advocate
Bill & Ted
River’s Edge
July 10th, 2012 at 11:59 AM
Speaking of movies, has anyone here seen “Sound of My Voice” from last year/early this year about a cult or something? I heard it was awesome but can’t seem to find a torrent to download it yet.
July 10th, 2012 at 11:59 AM
yea, that was a cool scene…i’ll give em that.
but the fight before…neo vs. a million smith’s? RETARDED.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:00 PM
Never watched it, so I pulled it up on Wikipedia to read up on it. Saw that Gavin Rossdale was cast in that film. Now I’m sure I’ll never watch it.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:00 PM
Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey has become underrated in the annals of history…Death made that movie
July 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Chairwoman of the Nerdy Hot Girl Board
Tina Fey says GTFO.
Also, the chick from the scene where Vince Vaughn says “just the tip”
July 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
I’ll also say I think I just like those films that i mentioned and that it might be a sheer coincidence that Keanu Reeves happened to be in them.
There is no SABR-type argument you can make to make me believe Keanu Reeves is a good actor.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
I think you meant “mind bottling”.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo the other day. Awesome sauce.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
I agree with him not picking Butler. My complaint is with them getting all worked up about Cano getting booed. Didn’t Prince get booed last year in AZ? Didn’t hear anyone getting pissy about that.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:02 PM
Speaking of, I just saw his guest appearance on Burn Notice. Was pretty convincing as a sort of bad guy.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:02 PM
Speed is a ridiculous movie now — still holds up though. Dennis Hopper is one of the least intelligent bad guys ever. Point Break is incredible, great plot — “Utah gimme 2″. Bill & Ted’s are universally loved and for good reason.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:02 PM
but the fight before…neo vs. a million smith’s? RETARDED.
yes. Also, I have ms paint files that look less pixelated than that scene. the highway scene, the albino dudes with the switchblades and monica belucci are pretty much the only reason for the 2nd one.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:02 PM
No Johnny Mnemonic?
July 10th, 2012 at 12:03 PM
i’ll take shay maria.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:03 PM
Yup, and AZ fans carried that over into regular season and playoff games in the second half…but since a Yankee wasn’t having his feelings hurt everyone just had a laugh and moved on
July 10th, 2012 at 12:03 PM
I agree with him not picking Butler. My complaint is with them getting all worked up about Cano getting booed. Didn’t Prince get booed last year in AZ? Didn’t hear anyone getting pissy about that.
Ah gotcha. None of my friends have even mentioned it but that’s prob because none of us watched the damn thing last night.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:03 PM
which one, fincher or original?
July 10th, 2012 at 12:04 PM
It’s played out to say — but it is crazy to think that Will Smith was the initial choice to be Neo.

She needs to start tweeting some better pics. Does she think I followed her because I care what she has to say?

I love me some Tina (her “rap verse” on Childish Gambino was excellent) but I mean come on…. Rachel Weisz is Topanga level nerd hot.

pfft. some nerdy glasses doesnt a nerd make. she needs to know her role. nerdy hot isnt it.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:08 PM
i liked that one, think i liked the original a bit better only b/c noomi rapace was almost spot on in my vision of Lisbeth when i read the books, before i knew a movie existed.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Rossdale was in Constantine? Don’t remember. To be fair, reading about the movie doesn’t sound enticing, but they did a great job with it. Tilda Swinton was awesome as Gabriel
July 10th, 2012 at 12:08 PM
The fight that Neo had with the medevil weapons was also pretty cool.
kaiser – 1999 was such a good year for movies…the Matrix, Fight Club, American Beauty, Sixth Sense, Toy Story 2, Double Jeopardy, American Pie, South Park Movie, Dogma, Magnolia, Being John Malkovich

How can you forget ‘The Phantom Menace’?!
July 10th, 2012 at 12:11 PM
wow, i forgot half of them came out that year.
unfortunately the CGI in the matrix sequels does not age well, and looks pretty terrible now. the live action fight scenes from the first and second one, however, look great.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:12 PM
you can forget it very easily.
tried watching it on blu ray a couple months ago, turned it off after an hour and questioned how i even watched that more than once when it came out.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:12 PM

As I’m looking at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_in_film#Top_grossing_films
it reminded me of “Go” — good drug movie that no one talks about.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:13 PM
Good movies I said…TPM is a steaming pile of dung, and even major SW fans like myself can admit that. However, the CGI in TPM held up better than the Matrix sequels that kaiser is talking about.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:13 PM
you can forget it very easily.
Agreed — that movie sucked hard, whatever happened to little Anakin? Not exactly the star making vehicle that was expected.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:15 PM
You gotta give Constantine a shot – it’s creepily good. And Rossdale performed his role perfectly – it fits his slimy real-persona.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:16 PM
Other really good movie years: 1991, 1993, 1994, 2003
July 10th, 2012 at 12:17 PM
Someone at my work said that Cano had said that he would take a Royal if either Butler or Moustakas was the Royals representative and that’s why the crowd booed him. I hadn’t heard that (and I don’t really give a shit either way, actually), so who knows if it’s true.
/absolutely no point to this post, but I typed it so here you go

Rachel Weisz is just hot, period. Her transformation from The Mummy to The Mummy Returns is the most unbelievable thing in the whole trilogy.

Three Kings was also made in 1999 — very good film. I dont know anything about how things are shot, but I always liked how that movie was filmed.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:19 PM
exactly…im going for a slutty chick that thinks she’s smart. i don’t want a legit smart one…they’ll see right thru my bullshit.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:19 PM
and i can’t watch TPM after seeing a brutal takedown video about how poorly choreographed the lightsaber duels are.
i recommend it, for the simple fact it’s a well done video that points out what all movies do with those kind of battles.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:19 PM
Rachel Weisz is just hot, period. Her transformation from The Mummy to The Mummy Returns is the most unbelievable thing in the whole trilogy.
Agree … but not quite as hot as Anck Su Namun (Patricia Velasquez)

I’ll have to check that our kaiser, thanks. In hindsight, the lightsaber fight in TPM was really disjointed. AOTC was so different because they spent so little time on it and focused on the close up shots.

Whatever happened to Linda Fiorentino? She was smokin’ in Dogma, The Last Seduction, MIB … it may because she was reportedly such a bitch to work with and can’t get a job anymore.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
yeah, it was filmed better, maybe b/c of how TPM choreography looked when all was said and done.
i haven’t watched ROTS yet on blu ray, but AOTC was far better then TPM and i know i liked ROTS more than AOTC so i’m optimistic.
i know some people that love TPM and i can’t take them seriously.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
Eh….I always assumed those things were choreographed anyway.
And even with that video, compare those lightsaber fights that were choreographed in the Original Trilogy. Woof.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:29 PM
Kevin Smith has alluded to this fact many times. Here is one such example.
It was a shame Linda Fiorentino missed her window to do porn. She is probably a wild cat.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:29 PM
yeah, it just points out how poorly done it is when they take away the distraction of the glowing lightsabers and sounds of them wooshing through the air.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:30 PM
See response #58 and MK doesn’t even wear glasses.
/She is still crazy hot and the scene in BlackSwan with Portman deserved an Oscar.

Q: Why did you become a director?
A: Because I wasn’t much good at anything else, and oddly enough I’m not very good at this – but nobody seems to notice.
Kevin, believe me — everyone has noticed.

July 10th, 2012 at 12:49 PM
nope, 30 years old, at least.
i agree with those rankings of yours.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:53 PM
Ewoks drag down a good 40 minutes, although the battle at the end of ROTJ is the tits.
I do find AOTC maligned a little bit too, the Obi-Wan detective parts are really good (esp. the McGregor-Chris Lee dialogue), and I enjoy the end. However the love story stuff is awful.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:54 PM
I still can’t get over the fact that there’s a little league baseball team called “Hard 9″. I laugh every time I see that.
July 10th, 2012 at 12:56 PM
That could be said for virtually every piece of dialogue in the entire saga.
July 10th, 2012 at 1:08 PM
I dont know anything about how things are shot, but I always liked how that movie was filmed.
The bonus content on the Three Kings DVD is solid. Russell uses different film stock/lighting for each of the three acts of the movie. Also, Clooney was getting screwed by the E.R. staff so a bunch of scenes he isn’t there at all, edited in, so they show Ice Cube and Mark, cut over to George, cut back to those guys. Great Heist movie.
July 10th, 2012 at 1:13 PM
More like this.
