Don’t worry guys, Selig is on the case. From now on, Derby contestants will be selected by the Veteran’s Committee, since they are completely in tune with who the best modern sluggers are. Also, to ensure the contest is as entertaining as possible, whichever League the winner of the Derby is from will win for his Leagues World Series team a 2 run “spot” lead for any game of the Series that team chooses.

It was awesome, but I thought it was just b/c they hate the Yankees and still have hate for the whole pine tar thing. I hadn’t heard the Butler thing.

HR derby is pretty much the single most fan friendly and focused MLB event, so let em boo. Barry Larkin was a puss about the whole thing.

Is this going to be a thing now? Every year a player from the host city has to be in the HRD, or some guy gets mercilessly booed? I’d guess after this the players will no longer be picking the teams.

Last year fielder shut the crowd up by launching bombs, Cano did none of that and the crowd let him have it. Its as simple as that

I thought it was awesome, The Arizona crowd did it last year when the NL Captain didnt pick Upton, i honestly think the booing would have subsided had he hit a homerun, but once he kept making outs the crowd let him have it. You dont wanna get booed, pick the hometown guy to participate or maybe hit a homerun.

I really fail to see the big deal here.

Arizona fans did this last year to Fielder because he picked his teammate Weeks for the Derby instead of JUpton but since a Yankee wasn’t involved no one gave a shit…good for KC fans, this will be the only thing anyone remembers about this next week
