UFC 148: Anderson Silva-Chael Sonnen 2 Could Be the Biggest PPV Ever
Chael Sonnen vs Anderson Silva two years ago was just some guy who wouldn’t shut up preparing to get beat down by the greatest fighter of all-time. Today, well, it’s kind of the same thing depending on who you ask. Either way, this fight has some buzz.
This is arguably the biggest rematch in UFC history. Arguably… Brock Lesnar’s second fight against Frank Mir headlined UFC 100, the biggest PPV in UFC history. While this card pales in comparison to UFC 100 (Lesnar – Mir, GSP – Alves, Hendo – Bisping, Akiyama – Belcher, Jon Jones on the undercard), the anticipation of Anderson Silva – Chael Sonnen II has pushed this card into another stratosphere. The two years in between have dragged.
Forget the pointless trilogy fight between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin, Silva – Sonnen could sell any card. There’s real bad blood and the first fight was downright epic. The fact that the guy who got his ass kicked for most of the fight ended up winning by submission should only aid in the comparison to the Lesnar – Mir rivalry. Of course, that would mean Sonnen is due to finish Silva on Saturday… Onto the videos.
The Silva – Sonnen staredown was memorable earlier this week. The staredown at the weigh-ins should be just as intense.
Sonnen went on Dan Le Batard is Highly Questionable earlier this week. It was predictably insane.
Steven Seagal is training Anderson Silva again. Apparently, he taught him some things that were previously thought illegal. This man is a fucking loon. I love it.
At UFC 117, I expected Silva to come out and shut Chael down. I’m done expecting that. Sure, Silva may have been limited by injured ribs in their previous fight, but I expect Sonnen to control this fight again – if he can get it to the ground. Even when he’s controlling on the ground, Silva can win at any moment as we learned two years ago. Since then, Silva has become dangerous again. There was the front kick of Vitor Belfort and the TKO of Yushin Okami.
I don’t know who I’m pulling for. On the one hand, we have the greatest fighter of all-time and on the other hand, we have one of the most entertaining fight promoters of all-time. I can’t imagine how insufferable Sonnen could become with the belt. I guess it doesn’t matter. I just want to see this fight.

Ron, I cannont wait to see this fight. The PPV endercard is absolutely terrible though. Do people really want to see Tito? He’s completely washed up. Cung Le is way past his prime. I think that Dong and Maia should be further up the charts.
What say you?

Biggest UFC PPV obviously. Still though, should do boxing-level numbers.
