Tiger Woods Wins the AT&T National at Congressional
Tiger Woods won the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club Sunday, finishing at 8-under, two strokes ahead of Bo Van Pelt.
The victory marked Tiger’s third PGA Tour triumph of the season, which of course brings us to the inevitable burning question of “is he back?” It really depends who you’re talking to. He’s set such a tremendously high bar for himself that being very good just won’t be enough for some, especially for casual golf fans who yearn for Tiger to win each tournament by 15 strokes.
Nonetheless, this is basically golf’s seemingly never-ending version of the enthralling Tastes Great/Less Filling debate of the 1980s. I just wish people would start screaming it on golf courses.

and your new FedEx Cup leader…
i’ll stand back and wait for the haters to belittle this win like they’ve done the previous two this year.
he couldn’t even hit driver all week (except for the 72nd hole) and managed to win. Tiger > your favorite player

He’s back to being a really good player. He’ll be “BACK” when he wins a major

He won a tourney where most of the top players were in Europe. Big whoop!

This just in…..who gives a flying rat’s ass.
This. Glad the weather was hot and I was outside getting my suntan & swimming and not watching this jackass win. Plus, having to hear all wannabees yell from 372 yds away, “Get in the hole!”.

Bo Van Pelt bitched out? Shocker.
Also, Rain.

wait, so it’s OK to use the “Major” line around here? I mentioned it on twitter and was bombarded.
July 1st, 2012 at 8:44 PM
majors are definitely better but personally i think winning is winning, especially because he isn’t out there playing guys like me that can’t play for shit.

NBA free agency, airhead Andrews and now this … God, when does the NFL preseason begin?

@BigLead, like A.P. said, there are two types of back for Tiger. He’s not yet back to being Tiger, but he’s at least not looking like he’s lost on the course now

The guys on the broadcast mentioned that when he’s back winning regular tournaments, that was when he was winning majors. So, maybe…..the stage is set for another major win or maybe he’s just back to being a competitive tour golfer. Time will tell of course. Certainly you can say he’s improved to be closer to himself before the Thanksgiving cataclysm that changed his life.

It starts in August like it does every year. Today is a Sunday before the 4th of July. Not a whole going on. Also, you don’t have to read this site. Please update your trolling techniques.

Cataclysm? I think you mean orgasm. And that was in the Summer of 2006 with a Perkins waitress. Not Thanksgiving.

Tiger gives zero point zero shits about any other golfer on the course any given weekend. He doesn’t play against the field; he plays against himself (like every other golfer on every weekend). Sure, there is something to be said regarding the pressure from the field to put up a good score, but for the most part if you can put together 4 good rounds of golf you will usually be in a good position to win. Do you think Tiger and Furyk were wetting the bed because Webb Simpson was leading, or because the course was so fucking hard?

At one point today when one jackass yelled “get in the hole”, the mic picked up another spectator saying “shut the fuck up”

Love this, it’s like everyone here or on Twitter who does the whole “When does football start” bit thinks they’re the first one to think of it

meh. Without the current best golfers playing, there was less pressure. It appears that the mental/pressure part of the game is what’s escaping him now.
July 2nd, 2012 at 8:28 AM
it’s not the major line that gets you (or anyone else) bombarded, it’s that you are the definition of a casual golf fan who brings up not winning a major every time he wins a regular tournament.

What would you know about PRESSURE?!?
