Georgia Running Back Isaiah Crowell Arrested On Weapons Charges [UPDATE: Four Other Georgia Players With Him, But Were Released]
Isaiah Crowell, the number 1 rated prospect at running back two years ago, was arrested overnight on multiple charges related to weapons possession, including carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon in a school zone. He was booked at 3:37 a.m. and had his bond set at $7,500.
Last year, Crowell rushed for 850 yards as a freshman at Georgia. He was suspended by head coach Mark Richt for the New Mexico State game last year, and also was benched for the first quarter of the Vanderbilt game.
UPDATE: According to Fletcher Page, four other players, Josh Harvey-Clemons, Blake Tibbs, Quintavious Harrow, and Sheldon Dawson, were with Crowell in the vehicle at the time of the arrest but were released. Harvey-Clemons, you might recall, was a top linebacker recruit this offseason who was recruited by Richt attending his church. Crowell denied knowing about the gun in his vehicle, which was found under the driver’s seat.

Typical Georgia thug.
June 29th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
Marshall, Malcome, Gurley and Samuel are still there so I’m not too worried. Good riddance to this piece of shit.
June 29th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
Learned a lot from missing that quarter last year, I see. Perhaps a whole half will really learn him this time.
June 29th, 2012 at 9:32 AM
pay the players and this shit wouldn’t happen.

Least surprising player arrest ever.
June 29th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Sounds like he was a Glock to start this season.

Vague Deadspin-like comment.

Crowell was terrified of all the pseudo hipster hippies running around Athens, empowered by the recent Supreme Court decision. Those rich spoiled white kids from Forsyth County are terrifying at night.
June 29th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
I thought that was a felony?

1st Round Pick, Detroit Lions, 2014.

No surprise here. Richt will give him some Jesus talk and he’ll be good to go for the second game.
June 29th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
It is.
The gun’s serial number was also altered.
Enjoy prison, dipshit!

Will it be federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison?
June 29th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
So that’s what the altered ID meant. It could be a while before he’s back on the field
/awhile in Richt Time is 1.5 games
June 29th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
It isn’t up to Richt. He’s already suspended and it goes above Richt’s head because it’s a felony. No chance this kid ever plays college football again.
June 29th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
Oh shit. Didn’t realize that. Yeah he’s doneskies.
June 29th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
The gun’s serial number was also altered.
what does this run ya? 2-4?
June 29th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
My source for this is shit but that’s what I found. Looks like at least 3 years 4 months?
June 29th, 2012 at 10:15 AM
Same thing happened to Tyler Smith at Tennessee a couple of years ago, and I don’t think he saw any jail time.
June 29th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
Gun was found in a car with 4 people, maybe they couldn’t tie it to anyone? Think he only got a misdemeanor. Different than having a altered serial gun on your person in a school zone.
June 29th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
That’s a good point.
June 29th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
He also had drugs on him.

I understand these are very serious charges, and should not be taken lightly. But let’s all take a minute and just thank the good Lord that we wasn’t selling any of his own stuff for discounted tattoos. That’s the kinda shit that can really hurt a football program.

If Tyrelle Pryor had a gun he wouldn’t have scratched off the serial because that would require literacy.

Pryor wouldnt need no gun. The Sweater would pop out a bowl of rice and pop a few caps for Pryor if needed.

Yep, this Crowell character certainly fits the SEC Rhodes Scholar mold.
