Do not draft Austin Rivers Toronto for reasons beyond him being a duke-a-sexual.
1. He is essentially the same player as Joe Forte:
Forte 6’4 185lbs Two Year Avg:
33.9MPG 18.7 PTS 45.4 FG% 36.7 3FG% 80.9 FT% 3.0 APG 5.8 RB 1.8 ST
Rivers 6’4 200lbs One year:
33.2 MPG 15.5PTS 43.3 FG% 36.5 3FT% 65.8 FT% 2.1 APG 3.4 RB 1.0 ST
2. He is a shoot first player with an inconsistent shot
3. He can’t catch and shoot, seriously, imagine a SG who can’t catch and shoot.
4. He will be a locker room cancer in d-league
5. Overdribber who can’t see a pass, ball hog.
6. He went to duke.
7. He’s a bitch
Hoping for Damon Lillard or trade down maybe take Teague and best available.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:23 PM
Robinson to Cleveland.
/All I got.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:23 PM
soused -
Coming out strong!
+1
June 28th, 2012 at 7:24 PM
I hope so. He’s such an unbelievably likeable guy. Irving and Robinson would be nice centerpieces for the next decade.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:24 PM
That’s one thing I know isn’t happening. Thompson and Robinson play the same spot… As does Varejao.
Beyond that, not sure what the Cavs will do.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:32 PM
I hope the Rockets can do something to get me interested in them again.
/Bandwagoner
June 28th, 2012 at 7:38 PM
Well done, Hornets. You didn’t screw it up.
We’ll be doing plenty of posts, FWIW
June 28th, 2012 at 7:41 PM
Davis and his dad have the exact same voice.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:41 PM
And it’s the New Orleans Hornets who automatically win the Draft.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:42 PM
Rece Davis improvising this entire thing. Ballsy.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:43 PM
Good GOD these guys are terrible.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:47 PM
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: He’s not the best color man/forward in the league for nothing, folks.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:48 PM
We’re not sure where this guy played last year but we’re sure he did a hell of a job.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:50 PM
+1
June 28th, 2012 at 7:50 PM
Rivers is closer to Ben Gordon than joe forte. Over dribbling is a problem for sure, but he is 19 and a SG playing de facto pg. honestly, I dont get why beal gets a pass on his poor shooting numbers because he was playing out of position at SF, same applies to rivers. But I’d take Ross over both.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:54 PM
Oh also: Bilas said on the BS Report the other day he was going to use the term “Kruger” in place of “wingspan” tonight. Said it was a guarantee. Watch for it, hopefully Van Gundy won’t let it pass without comment.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:54 PM
REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACH
June 28th, 2012 at 7:56 PM
Ben Gordon can get to the rim.
Also didn’t Ray Allen hit a fuckton of threes in college? Shuttlesworth is watching this right now wanting to kick this kids ass.
June 28th, 2012 at 7:57 PM
what thread am I suppoesd to unleash my venom?
June 28th, 2012 at 7:58 PM
Man, Portland is going to have a shot at either Barnes or TRob now. Does that change their game plan or do they still get a guard?
June 28th, 2012 at 7:58 PM
Can one of the apologists who thinks everyguy in the draft is going to be an all-star come in here and cheer me up about a guy who never even started in college….
June 28th, 2012 at 7:59 PM
I propose we keep the comments in here. Mac, why dont you just disable the comments on the new posts.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:00 PM
I love Syracuse.
Sorry. No.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:00 PM
Congrats TRob. See you again in a basketball moment that matters never.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:02 PM
I want this guy and Royce to succeed so bad. And Barnes/Rivers to fail hilariously.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:03 PM
Im gonna just comment in here.
chris grant gets some leeway due to Tristan Thompson being a solid pick that I hated last year. But fuck all man. there’s a lot of risk with waiters it seems.
hey, you didnt start in college. wanna play 30 minutes a night in the nba? SURE!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:03 PM
who’s “this guy” mole?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:04 PM
Robinson.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:04 PM
Scripty, waiters was good enough to start but Boeheim chose to have him come off the bench as the energy scoring burst guy. He’s a good pickup. Top 4 pick worthy? Who knows but he’ll be valuable to an NBA team. Just look at some of the losers on these nba benches
June 28th, 2012 at 8:04 PM
All people with souls want this to happen.
Also, good call interviewing his sister, ESPN. Good call.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:04 PM
So I’m not crazy in thinking it’s a crazy dick move to have a draft in the arena of a team that just bailed on a city right?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:06 PM
Team Comment here.
If you comment elsewhere I will end.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Lillard is a stud, I don’t care if he played against children. Great pick.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:06 PM
You may be crazy, but for other reasons..
June 28th, 2012 at 8:07 PM
Here is golden state to make another bad draft pick..don’t let us down by being smart!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:07 PM
TBL hit five of the first six. We’re never going to hear the end of this.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:07 PM
Is Stern going to take some like that all night?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
Of course..he basks in it knowing/thinking that he’s richer and smarter than everyone booing him
June 28th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
How is it possible we haven’t had a single trade yet? Dork Elvis is sitting on three first rounders and he can’t get moved up?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
Damian Lilliard looks like a barrel of laughs.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:09 PM
ok a.p. – gimme a low-side, most likely and high ceiling comparison for waiters. I didnt even look at his stuff at all pre-draft.
and please, no cross-racial comparisons…
(sees Waiters is described as an an athletic two-guard)
nevermind
June 28th, 2012 at 8:10 PM
Still not convinced the light skinned guy on the ESPN table who can’t talk for shit isn’t Jamie Kennedy in blackface.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:11 PM
/pours large glass of whiskey
Okay lets prepare for another 13th pick Suns.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:11 PM
Waiters downfall is that once in a while he’ll have a mental lapse on defense. He has quick hands, had good steal numbers. Then again, its harder to get more steals in the NBA than college because of the pussified hand check rules
June 28th, 2012 at 8:11 PM
theres a lot of value 10-20 in this draft. Should help some of those near-playoff teams…
June 28th, 2012 at 8:12 PM
re: Waiters. If Cleveland feels like their top need is back court scoring (which is hard to argue), that pick is probably as good as any right? Would you really feel like Rivers or Lamb is such a better pick?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:12 PM
Mole…broussard is awful. He’s awful on the nba game studio show with magic and wilbon. He should just stick to reporting.
Harrison barnes? Hahahaha. Good luck with that lazy bastard
June 28th, 2012 at 8:13 PM
Jeremy Lamb could be really good if he gave a fuck. That was the biggest problem with the UConn team last year. Guys like Drummond and Lamb never gave a full effort for more than a few games
June 28th, 2012 at 8:14 PM
So far every single player drafted has been an nobel prize humanitarian finalists.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:14 PM
Rivers going to Toronto. Get ready for it.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:14 PM
I really have no clue what Boston is going to do at 21 & 22.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:14 PM
But didn’t you hear? Barnes jumped really high once at the combine! Start the All Star voting now!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:15 PM
Guys like Lamb look great until you give them their first big contract.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:15 PM
Exactly right.
Robinson doesn’t fit with Thompson and Varejao.
They tried to trade up for Beal. They were thinking about trading down as well, but maybe that fell through. I read they were talking Portland about their 6 and 11…
I’d been reading Waiters as a possible for the last 5 days, so it isn’t a huge shock. A little surprising, yes. But, not jaw dropping.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:15 PM
If rivers goes to toronto..get ready for one of the worst defenses in the league next year. Rivers and Bargnani? *plays circus music*
June 28th, 2012 at 8:16 PM
Wait…nevermind, now everyone’s saying it’s Terrence Ross going to Toronto!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:17 PM
Oh toronto…
June 28th, 2012 at 8:17 PM
Ha, can’t wait until he signs for the Knicks in 3-4 years and falls off a cliff. Guarantee the phrase “Jeremy Lamb’s Expiring Contract” will be used frequently before the year 2020.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:18 PM
I really thought Stern was going to say Terrence Jones from kentucky and i was going to laugh my ass off
June 28th, 2012 at 8:18 PM
Phew. Molotov cocktails back in the fridge. Probably could’ve traded down.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:19 PM
jayhawk, Chris Grant’s m.o. is to go for high-ceiling guys. I think he probably felt he has the best chance of being an all-star and that they want to keep Tristan Thompson at PF (or they think they can make a run at Ilysova).
I think Rivers will be a Corey Maggette/Shareef Abdur Rahim guy, destined to score 20 ppg for a bad team forever. Lamb should be a decent guy.
I thought there was some better value at SG like Ross or the vandy SG (in the 2nd round for the Vandy guy, name escapes me now).
June 28th, 2012 at 8:20 PM
What does waiters do well enough to warrant #4? Watched half a dozen cuse games this year, and it seems like attacking the basket is 50% of his game and gambling for steals is the other 50%. He is streaky, when his shot goes down he is unstoppable, but that’s such a generalization it can apply to anyone.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:20 PM
How the fuck does Toronto still have that logo?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:21 PM
my best friend said CLE radio saying a Varajeo-Barnes trade in the works? I dunno how GSW nees a 4th PF/C at over $9mm.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:22 PM
What you don’t like Jurassic Park?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:23 PM
The hat girl-player escorter looks like she’d be a freak in the sack. I’m oddly fascinated.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:23 PM
Andre Drummond looks high as fuck right now.
/NTTAWWT
June 28th, 2012 at 8:23 PM
this rawson’s creek is fucking delicious
June 28th, 2012 at 8:25 PM
Drummond to the Pistons. It once was the Malice in the Palace. Not it can be the Malaise in the Palace.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:26 PM
The hat girl-player escorter looks like she’d be a freak in the sack. I’m oddly fascinated.
Im at work. Screengrab somebody, please… CRM?!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:26 PM
Im surprised we havent had any trades yet
June 28th, 2012 at 8:26 PM
Hornets should reach for Teague just to have him run with Davis.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:27 PM
Awful hazy in the malaise palace.
Austin Rivers going to drop like a gayer version of Brady Quinn.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:28 PM
soused when this is all over I feel like we should get an apartment together.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:29 PM
And the Hornets get Rivers. Commence.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:29 PM
Terrible pick.
/crossover as the shot clock runs out
//This guy blows dudes for fun
///So happy he’s not on Jurassic Park
June 28th, 2012 at 8:30 PM
Austin rivers will put up numbers. His teams will never do anything but he will score a little
June 28th, 2012 at 8:30 PM
Commence the turnovers!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:30 PM
“The question is, can he be a point guard. Well, he had more turnovers than assist…”
Lol.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:30 PM
Im surprised we havent had any trades yet
Mike Reghi on WKNR said it’ll be Varajeo & 24 for Barnes.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:31 PM
Bunk beds brah, we’ll have more room for activities.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:31 PM
“He played without a true point” THAT’S BECAUSE THE WORTHLESS FUCK WAS PLAYING THE POINT AND SUCKED AT IT
June 28th, 2012 at 8:32 PM
portland are fuckers if they take marshall
June 28th, 2012 at 8:33 PM
Dont worry, hell be starting by christmas…
….because eric gordon will get hurt
/usual
June 28th, 2012 at 8:33 PM
Can’t wait until Doc is pleading with Rondo in the fourth to stop clowning his son, “Your breaking him Rondo.”
June 28th, 2012 at 8:33 PM
Surely Zeller is the pick for Portland here, right?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:35 PM
Dont worry, hell be starting by christmas…
….because eric gordon will get hurt
/usual
Ha ha!
/truth
And at least it wasn’t Meyers Leonard (Plan B).
Oh shit….
June 28th, 2012 at 8:35 PM
I think David Stern is getting younger every time the crowd boo’s him.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:35 PM
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
June 28th, 2012 at 8:35 PM
I would bet anything that Rondo will fucking destroy Rivers’ will to live in that first matchup.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:36 PM
/knee problems
June 28th, 2012 at 8:36 PM
Killed in a bicycle accident? Faggot.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:36 PM
Lol
June 28th, 2012 at 8:38 PM
Can you imagine watching one of these drafts from back in the early 80′s? Hearing things like “still needs to learn the game” about the #11 pick in the draft? You’d assume the world would have been decimated by a plague or enslaved by an alien race.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:38 PM
I bet that bitch Morey is pissing himself right now.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:38 PM
David Stern soaks in boos and drinks fetui? to keep a healthy glow
June 28th, 2012 at 8:39 PM
Drummond had no preseason and was trying to learn the system. Saying he “didn’t try” is a joke.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:40 PM
It probably wasn’t the plan going in, but 3 picks in the top 20 in this draft might end up being really good for the Rockets. They won’t get a franchise player but could really fill out a roster around one they sign or trade for down the road.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:41 PM
With the 12th pick the Houston Rockets select Dwight Howard……. Wait we cant do that – Morey
June 28th, 2012 at 8:41 PM
Are we really not going to have any trades here besides the Warriors possibly being their typical retarded selves.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:41 PM
I watched many UConn games and he was getting embarassed by smaller big guys.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:41 PM
/browbeats kid into giving up scholarship so Drummond can have one
June 28th, 2012 at 8:42 PM
Suckers..
June 28th, 2012 at 8:42 PM
With the 13th pick the Suns resign Steve Nash
June 28th, 2012 at 8:43 PM
This kids might just not like playing for free? Think Lamb is a way better shooter than Beal. Could be a great pick.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:43 PM
So do the Sixers draft Henson or Zeller at this point?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Right, because he barely had any preseason practices against college players due to the eligibility issues (and scholarship bullshit that mole mentioned). Let’s not pretend he’s Villanueva or Gay.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Called for Rudy Gay? Mfer they drafted him and traded him for Battier. God I hate this team
June 28th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
lord jesus doesn’t sign paycheques you dumb cunt.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
Or the sixers ditch hawes and play vucevic more because he was decent last year…
June 28th, 2012 at 8:46 PM
Can you imagine watching one of these drafts from back in the early 80′s? Hearing things like “still needs to learn the game” about the #11 pick
I randomly took the 1985 draft:
Jon Koncak, Joe Kleine, Keith Lee, Kenny Green, Alfredrick Hughes, Blair Rasmussen, Bill Wennington, Uwe Blab & Steve Harris all went in the top 20 picks. That’s a 45% suck ass ratio.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:47 PM
It would be funny if Phoenix took Perry Jones…but then again, i wouldnt wish that on YYSA.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:47 PM
We’ve had a dozen picks in an hour and only three of them have thanked God.
This draft shits on the NFL Draft so much it’s not even funny.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:48 PM
Nash is gone!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
Sweet..now Marshall can pass to Lopez and Gortat only to see shots missed!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
Marshall might be a downgrade defensively for phx
June 28th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
/sends truck of beer to YYSA
June 28th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
Who is going to pass to on Los Suns?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:50 PM
How the fuck does Toronto still have that logo?
HA!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:50 PM
Bon voyage canadian. Maybe
June 28th, 2012 at 8:51 PM
Marshall is the heir to Nash. Marshall is a great passer but interested to see how he’ll develop to score.
And is Heather Cox sitting on Roy’s lap??
June 28th, 2012 at 8:51 PM
Hoping Andrew Nicholson is available for Boston. A PF who can play defense and has a sweet touch on offense. A guy who could eventually start over Brandon Bass.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:51 PM
Let the Nash speculation begin. Miami?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:51 PM
Heather Cox can come sit on my lap
June 28th, 2012 at 8:52 PM
No way Pat Riley signs Nash. Miami wants guards that play defense.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:53 PM
Well yeah, that would be the wise move. Also fuck Hawes.
Guess we’re drafting Zeller or maybe even Sullinger now (gulp).
June 28th, 2012 at 8:53 PM
Chris bosh without the reliable offensive game
June 28th, 2012 at 8:54 PM
No fucking way in hell is Henson actually 6’10.5″
June 28th, 2012 at 8:54 PM
He said it
June 28th, 2012 at 8:54 PM
Philly, collins fucked up big time by not playing Vucevic in the playoffs
June 28th, 2012 at 8:55 PM
Come on JVG, don’t let him drop that without consequence.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:55 PM
Is that a double pocket square being rocked by Henson?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:55 PM
No way Pat Riley signs Nash. Miami wants guards that play defense.
Also, Nash is on record as saying pay is a factor in where he signs and MIA cant offer more than $3mill. MIA is floating that all the UFA’s want to jump at their $3mill MLE in hopes one of the players panics and takes it.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:55 PM
He look, the mom from That 70′s show is Tyler Zeller’s mom!
June 28th, 2012 at 8:55 PM
Don’t remind me.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
Huh, that kind of surprises me. Why would he care about pay?
Jeez he’s going to end up with a 3 year deal from Phoenix, isn’t he?
June 28th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
History repeating itself:
Meyers, Leonard
June 28th, 2012 at 8:58 PM
Roy Williams and Calipari getting a great deal of face time next to their first round picks, wonder how many of their games are going to televised by ESPN over the next 4 years? Feel free to speculate.
June 28th, 2012 at 8:59 PM
Way to go philly..another guy between 6’6 and 6’8″….
June 28th, 2012 at 8:59 PM
Back then the top picks just did enough coke celebrating to kill themselves…
/Simpler times
June 28th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
I think you’d be hard pressed to find a week ESPN didn’t have at least one from either team.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
Huh, that kind of surprises me. Why would he care about pay?
Since when has Nash cared about anything else? He was
a nice guy and was nice to PHX ownershipcontent to hide in PHX and collect paychecks instead of being asked to be traded to a contender. If he was gonna take the low MLE he’d go to LAL first IMO.June 28th, 2012 at 9:01 PM
GREAT TRADE NEW YORK
June 28th, 2012 at 9:01 PM
Soused, espn seems to have forgotten the annual unc-uk game is on CBS.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:01 PM
Way to go philly..another guy between 6’6 and 6’8″….
Shopping Iguodala
June 28th, 2012 at 9:02 PM
Shouldn’t Nash want to try for a ring, nevermind the contract?
/wants to see the guy get a ring
June 28th, 2012 at 9:03 PM
Yep. They could even sit on Iggy, let Moe develop for half a season and then get almost the same return on Iggy.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:03 PM
Now their snorting adderall just to work with a tutor to write communication essays for 8 months.
I’ve been shitting on these guys but it’s nice to see these coal miners escape their serfdom and become gentry themselves.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:05 PM
Iggy is either traded or Brand will be amnesty’d.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:05 PM
GET SOME HOUSTON GET SOME
June 28th, 2012 at 9:06 PM
I HATE FLYING
June 28th, 2012 at 9:06 PM
Shouldn’t Nash want to try for a ring, nevermind the contract?
Would hopping on a contender for a ring change his place in history? Not really. He has his MVPs. That’s just a Fan mentality vs Pro mentality 90% of the time (going for the ring). Also, Nash could easily go to LAL, DAL or SAS (if Parker out with a bad eye) for the same MLE price. He could then stay in the West. A lot of guys are not up for the Heat circus too despite all the shit coming out of MIA.

June 28th, 2012 at 9:11 PM
Zeller could be the best player of this unc team. Runs the floor well, two solid moves, great rebounder, doesn’t have the ceiling of Barnes or Henson. But he’ll be in the league for the next decade barring injury.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:12 PM
just further proof that Jordan has no clue how to run a team
Even if they couldnt unload Thomas they could have still gotten MKG at 4 and added another 1st from CLE. Jordan and Cho shat themselves.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:12 PM
I don’t care what you say, Royce White is going to be a good NBA player. They’ll get his meds right and all of the sudden he’s going to be the steal of this draft.

June 28th, 2012 at 9:23 PM
Cavs are looking to be a great 6th seed in 2016.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:24 PM
Well, but that’s basically Zeller for the #24. I mean come on, odds are whomever you pick up at 33 and 34 are going to be a 10th man at best, probably more like d-league material, even for Cleveland.
Look at it this way: Would it still be a terrible trade if it was the 24, Luke Walton and Luke Harangody?
June 28th, 2012 at 9:26 PM

They could of gotten younger with those picks. Seems like giving up 3 picks for a player who is going to be marginal at best is a stretch
June 28th, 2012 at 9:33 PM
Bad Back Sullinger going right now.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:34 PM
Fab Melo has to be one of the picks here for the Celts. I’m saying Melo and Perry Jones.

June 28th, 2012 at 9:39 PM
If you like Joel Anthony for his great hands and offense, well, you gonna loooove Fab Melo.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:39 PM
I don’t think he’d make it past Dallas now at 24.
June 28th, 2012 at 9:39 PM

June 28th, 2012 at 9:42 PM
so what will the Celts do with that JaJuanJoJo Johnson guy they got from Purdue last year? Doesn’t he play the same position as Sullinger? And, now Melo in the frontcourt also?

June 28th, 2012 at 9:43 PM
Fab Melo is the bizarro Ryan Hollins. Enjoy that Boston.
It’s possible they got the mild-natured foreigner solely to entice Kevin Garnett back. This will provide KG a target for his constant verbal tirades.
