Tim Tebow Took a Shot at Brady Quinn and Notre Dame, But Then the Story Vanished
Tim Tebow was in Winter Park, Florida recently, doing what he does best – speaking to people. The pro-Gator crowd was well-heeled and deep-pocketed, and Tebow was a little more candid than usual. For instance, the Jets backup QB took a big, uncharacteristic jab at former Denver teammate Brady Quinn and Notre Dame.
I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame. He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, ‘C’mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.’ … But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I’d say, ‘Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 [yard dash]. Our kicker ran under 5.0.’ ”
Sometimes, the truth hurts, Irish fans. Now some could say Quinn “started it” when he made these comments about Tebow to Mike Silver in GQ, but that’s not the real story.
Gator Zone published the Tebow quotes Monday; by Tuesday morning, the story had been scrubbed from the web. I wondered aloud on twitter what happened to it, and a reader was able to find the Google Cached version. I asked the editor of Gator Zone what happened to the story. Silence.
Does Tim Tebow possess the power to take down stories?

I heard something about it this morning on the radio. I quickly turned the channel because I don’t care about two shitty quarterbacks having a pillow fight.

Could’ve been some of the big money donors who pay big money to hear Tebow speak candidly and don’t want the riff-raff to see the same Timmy they see.

Timmy realized that some shots at ND would engratiate himself even more with the big donors attending.
June 26th, 2012 at 12:39 PM
Also doesn’t the “we all had the opportunity to go there” bit punch a further hole in the asinine “nobody wanted Tebow he’s a plucky white underdog” narrative?

If openly gay QB’s mean more of these bullshit cat fights we need them back in the closet. Equality can be reached without so much collateral damage.

This story has the potential to blow the roof off the internet. Keep at ‘em, TBL.

This was always a solid narrative given that he was a 5 star recruit, the #3 rated QB (lol at Mitch Mustain) in the country and did his official visits at Florida, Alabama, LSU, Michigan, and USC.

brady quinn is a non-brainwashed version of tebow…they’re literally identical players. they shouldnt throw stones at each other since they might crack the mirror.
June 27th, 2012 at 11:47 AM
Tebow doesn`t want to appear anti-Catholic.He`s just preening for his roller congregation. If he could have thrown the ball like Quinn with the rest of his attributes he`d be starting somewhere, not a journeyman
June 27th, 2012 at 12:17 PM
How about asking one of your readers to dig up the cached Bill Simmons “The NBA Finals Are Going 7 Games” article that he and ESPN scrubbed from the website.
Gator Zone’s essentially a propaganda site; ESPN and Simmons are allegedly professional journalists.
June 27th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
First of all it was a shot at a former Notre Dame player not Notre Dame. Second, Anyone who went to Florida Probably can’t even spell Notre Dame. Finally, does anyone outside of the state of Florida really care about anything Tim Tebow has to say? I know I don’t!
June 27th, 2012 at 1:18 PM
ND Fan is spot on. Tebow was a solid QB, but I really doubt he had a genuine opportunity to play at ND. He might have received letters of interest, but the process is a bit different at ND. Very similar to the ones at Stanford or the academies. You have to be interested in being a student. That scares off a lot of athletes where the SEC recruits from. And Tebow’s claim that no one ran under a 5.0 is of course ludicrous. And let’s look at Tebow’s gripe to begin with – Quinn was proud of his alma mater!! As he should be!! And the last I checked, ND beat Florida the last time they played. Besides, who really gives a crud about Florida? I mean, aside from those who live in Florida? ND has fans in every state in the union.
June 27th, 2012 at 2:22 PM
As a life long Notre Dame fan I have to say that Brady Quinn is a complete waste of time. hell Jimmy Clausen should be thrown in the mix too. Tebow is a great athlete but another waste of time as a QB. Good call Tebow, Notre Dame is a world class university and Miami offers great party’s with ex-cons who run fast
June 27th, 2012 at 6:20 PM
“Scissor lift kid still has the fastest 40.”
to the idiot that said that, that is just dispicable! bringing up declan sullivan’s death is very uncalled for.
June 27th, 2012 at 7:51 PM
Really Mr. Tebow! You are a role model to so many. Show some class. You don’t have to put people down for any reason in the press. Let the little things go. Be as gracious as you have been to your detractors to those you may want to detract from. And really all of this stuff even football is little stuff. You have a much higher calling
June 27th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
The comment about Declan Sullivan, who died tragically last year on campus, is way out of line. I can’t believe that is still posted. Please edit and remove.
