Detroit Cornerback Aaron Berry Arrested For DUI, Adds Another Arrest to the Lions’ Offseason Ledger
Detroit Lions players cannot stay out of trouble this offseason. Aaron Berry, an undrafted free agent in 2010 who is expected to compete for a starting cornerback job this year, is the latest. Just this morning, Berry was featured in a story about how he is poised to seize his opportunity and how he has been working hard this offseason.
Talk about bad timing. Berry was arrested on Saturday morning in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on counts of suspicion of DUI, causing accidental damage to an unattended vehicle, and failure to stop and give information to law enforcement, according to WXYZ. Berry was arrested at 4:45 a.m. after hitting a parked vehicle, walking away from it, and then refusing to cooperate with law enforcement by giving basic information. He also refused a breathalyzer. He was in town for a charity softball game hosted by former college teammate LeSean McCoy of Philadelphia.
Three weeks ago, the Detroit Lions accounted for 24% of the arrests this offseason by NFL players, all from the 2011 class. Berry now joins Mikel LeShoure and Nick Fairley, who have been arrested twice each. Fairley was arrested for DUI after also having a marijuana possession charge, while LeShoure was popped twice for marijuana possession within a month. If Drew Sharp thought they should cut Fairley and LeShoure after those marijuana arrests, I’m curious to know what he thinks should be done now.
It’s been a bad offseason off the field for the younger Detroit players, and you would have thought that they might exercise a little personal responsibility and control. Soon, the commissioner may have more suspended Lions than Saints.

The Front Office should force shady players to live within the confines of Detroit. Won’t have to worry about getting pulled over then.

Most undeserving state capital:

Why is it that whenever a national person wants to quote a Detroit columnist, Drew Sharp is the choice. He is the worst fucking columnist in all of Detroit media.
Why do you choose him? Why? Seriously, Lisk….why? I always hoped that if we just ignored him, he would go away.

Most of Illinois outside the Chicago would qualify as this. Springfield is bad, but it has nothing on Southern Illinois. Makanda, where vietnam veterans have forged a sort of village community over the past three decades, is especially cringe inducing.

Meanwhile it’s doubtful that Goodell will suspend him. Greedy NFL, indeed.

As Mike has pointed out several times, the NFLPA refused to give the league the ability to levy big penalties for DUIs.

If only the Lions were a CFB team, these arrests would mean they are on the verge of a huge season.

There was a tiny Quaker college near where I grew up. It used to be called Friends which was confusing because there was also a Friends University in Wichita. So, they cleared that up by renaming it Friends University of Central Kansas. That didn’t last long.

Up in the UP of Michigan, there was a school called Suomi College that changed it’s name to Finlandia University. Their hockey team had hats made with “Finlandia University – College of the Keweenaw” with appropriate letters bolded.
