Anthony Rizzo is Coming! It’s the Year of the Rookie in MLB
Anthony Rizzo is the savior of the Cubs, and he’ll be in the building Tuesday when the Mets visit Wrigley. He’s expected to be in the lineup to face Dillon Gee of the Mets according to the Sun-Times. It’s the Year of the Rookie!
If it’s possible to be a savior despite being traded twice before turning 23, Rizzo is the savior (sorry, Theo). He’s knocked the ball all around Iowa – 23 homers and 62 RBI in 70 games – and now he’ll have his first extended look at MLB pitching.
The 1st baseman had a cup of coffee with the Padres last year (a paltry .141 average with one homer in 153 plate appearances spanning 49 games). Then the Padres acquired Yonder Alonso from the Reds, and Rizzo became expendable.
More more than anything, Rizzo’s got a terrific baseball name. Especially for anyone who is dimly aware of Frank Rizzo.

I’ll laugh if he out-homers Adrian Gonzalez by the end of the year.

Rizzo The Rat is a heavily underrated Muppet.
