Video: Josésito López Broke Victor Ortiz’s Jaw

When last we saw Victor Ortiz, he got knocked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr. on a borderline sucker punch. (Defend yourself at all times, bro.) Tonight he returned to the ring against Josésito López. With a win, Ortiz could have been looking at a fight with undefeated Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Oh well. López broke Ortiz’s jaw and Ortiz asked out after the 9th round.
As you can see from the second image, Ortiz was up on the judge’s scorecards when the fight ended. Of course, we don’t know what David Stern and Bob Arum were planning if Ortiz went the distance. If you’re interested, you can watch the whole fight at Iron Forges Iron.

I completely forgot about this fight. Was it entertaining? A broken jaw is sort of exciting

I haven’t watched it, but judging by Twitter it was pretty good.

Another fight post without any actual fight watching eh?
It was a typical Ortiz fast-and-furious bout. Lots of back and forth furys. It was a real lucky blow that broke the jaw. Ortiz was backing up after an exchange and opened his mouth for a split second and got caught. I had it even, so who knows what would have happened through 12, but it was even all night.
The undercard was great also. Matthysse showed he’s a force to be reckoned with and would love to see him matched up with Khan next year.
