The glaring change that needs to be made is that the Heat need to find a true point guard to bring the bring the ball up court and distribute to the scorers on the team…this will allow Lebron and Wade to avoid double teams (mostly Lebron). Do I sense a Steve Nash signing on the way?

If you think the Heat couldn’t trade Wade to a team, like say the Bobcats(remember he is on team Jordan), for a unprotected draft pick that could turn into a lottery pick, you’re ignoring some of the awful decisions that have went on in the NBA

No we aren’t to assume that. It’s obvious he wasn’t. What we aren’t to assume is the reason he played at a lesser level THIS season is because of age. Or that because he’s 30, now is the time to trade one of the top 10 players in the League who just won his second championship. Plus, the same guy who wrote a post bemoaning the Redskins for trading nameless, faceless, picks for the chance to pick RGIII is advocating trading one of the best players in the NBA for nameless, faceless picks. It doesn’t make sense.

Can anybody think of an instance where a championship team traded its 2nd best player (one of the top 10 players in the league) and still repeated? This isnt like swapping Trevor Ariza for Ron Artest. Do we really think the Heat have a better chance of becoming a dynasty if they swap Wade for, say, Eric Gordon and some draft picks? It’s not like LeBron is 23. This team was built to win now.

It will be interesting to see if Lebron’s transformation over the past three games in the finals and focus on the low block sticks. If it does, that could inform a lot of the different free agent acquisitions they look to make in terms of reshaping the roster.

Not really. Are we to assume that Wade was playing at the same level? I do remember you bemoaning in a post probably a week and a half ago that Wade was not playing hurt, he was playing injured. (Likely true, who knows, but he wasn’t “himself” it seemed.) So if his injury affects his current performance, and is thus reflected in his statistical averages, it is absolutely relevant.

What are you assuming the Heat would get for Wade? 2 older mid tier players and a couple 1st round picks? Draft picks are close to worthless if they aren’t top 5 or maybe back to 10 in a flush year. I don’t understand how this would be smart or make them better. Wade in the hand is worth 2 in the bush…

On top of that, assuming Wade is on the downside of his career right now, would the Heat be the only team in the NBA privy to this information? I would assume that team with the young pieces that the Heat would be interested in would know Wade’s status as well, and if they are aware of this status, why would they make that trade. Also, assuming Wade is on the downside of his career, what player out there would perform as a better number 2 than D Wade?

So I don’t appear like a hater I will say this is a good post. It’s nice to see some perspective for a discussion involving LeBron. He was a beast in the postseason this year. It’ll be interesting to see if he/they can sustain that level next year.

I think the difference between how those other “big 3s” were formed is that the other pieces came to the stars whereas LeBron went to the other pieces. In the long run, it doesn’t matter much but I think there is a difference.
