Texas Tech May Cancel Texas State Game Rather Than Play on Longhorn Network
The Big 12 is stable, though the Longhorn Network issue isn’t going away. Texas Tech was told its Sept. 8 visit to Texas State would be played on “an ESPN platform.” After being informed said ESPN platform might be the Longhorn Network, Texas Tech officials were not pleased. They may buy out the game rather than appear on the network.
Tech learned of this possibility several days ago, and according to the source, is “adamantly opposed to playing on the Longhorn Network” and is “putting serious consideration into canceling the game and playing an 11 game schedule” this fall.
Tech refused to play Texas on the Longhorn Network last year. The WAC, which already signed a deal with the Longhorn Network to show UTSA’s home games, controls the broadcast rights for the game.

Uh, hasn’t this already been shot down this morning?

This isn’t the product of Texas or ESPN controlling things. THis is the product of playing at Texas State. If Texas State wants the game on the LHN, Tech should play on the LHN.

Not sure what the best aspect of summer is: Golf, outdoor drinking or college sports not going on

Also, if push came to shove, no way TT actually cancels a game. How bad would it look to throw a hissy fit due to the LHN, then have to play UT later in the year…and lose by 3 TD’s.

Well yeah, except the last two summers there’s all the realignment drama. So you get all the business bullshit without any games to distract you.
That said, my conference isn’t about to implode this summer (yay!) so I can live with it.

Throw in the abundance of half naked women and I’m on board.

Like the first two, your logic is off on the last one. We’re going to talk endlessly, mindlessly about college football from here on out and it’s going to be worse because there won’t be anything to actually talk about…just speculation, and stuff like, Georgia sucks.

Texas State is real? wasn’t that the team in Necessary Roughness?

Looks like ESPN is backing down, doesn’t mean the underlying story wasn’t/isn’t true.

That might be the dumbest “fire up” video ever.

Seem inordinately concerned about the size of their guns.

My favorite part of the video is that they talk about Hollywood being all hat and no cattle, then put Tubs and some players in awful looking Western clothes with unloaded pistols.

Dear Texas:
Go back to Mexico.
Signed,
America

To quote the great Early Cuyler: I like driving in my truck. Auburn sucks.
June 22nd, 2012 at 10:55 AM
What? No thanks. Though some parts of this state practically are Mexico.

Southwest Texas State changed to just Texas State in ’03, years after Necessary Roughness came out. Sadly, the real Texas State is the Bobcats, not the Armadillos. The same thing happened on the tv show “Coach” when Minnesota State didn’t exist at the time, but does now.

Only one of these things is enjoyable to me, and I can’t do it.
At least there’s the Olympics. Free basketball. Plus a new swimmer to go gaga over, and the best olympic gymnast grew up 4 miles from me. Ugh. When does football start again?

Fixed. You misspelled “merica”.
