The Chicago Cubs are once again hilariously inept this season, no different from any other year. Thus far in the club’s storied “rivalry” with winning, they maintain a horrific record against, well, pretty much anyone, which inspired pitcher Jake Peavy to shed some honest light on the unfortunate circumstances of dropping the first two of a three-game set against their neighbors.

“I don’t mean any disrespect, but a team playing the way the Cubs have been playing, we have to beat those teams,” Peavy said.

Fittingly enough, Peavy’s comment drew nothing from the Cubs clubhouse. Everyone knows the Cubs are terrible, including the Cubs. While that kind of rare self-awareness is refreshing, it’s pretty pathetic to witness the continued absence of pride oozing from that clubhouse.
