LeBron May Be Having the Greatest NBA Postseason Ever, But We Are Too Busy Turning On the Thunder to Notice
Did the Heat win last night, or did the Thunder lose? Forgive me. It has become confusing.
LeBron James, the most capable and dynamic athlete ever to play his and perhaps any sport, has reached his apex, where accrued wisdom coincides with physical ability. He has capitalized, delivering a career defining piece de resistance.
He had 26 points, 12 assists and 9 rebounds last night. Larry Bird was the last player to do that in the Finals in 1986. LeBron scored or set up 55 of the Heat’s 104 points. He played 44 minutes, removed from the game only because he was dehydrated and cramping. It was not just last night. LeBron has done it every night.
He’s averaging a 30-9-5 in the playoffs. That has happened three times in NBA history and twice since 1963, both times by him. He’s the league’s most maligned player. He would be silencing his critics, except they have already departed.
To hear the media noise machine tell it, the story is no longer LeBron, Mario “Motherfucking” Chalmers or the Heat. It’s the Thunder. They are losing this playoff series. It is a debacle. We must blame.
The turn starts with loud ESPN personalities and diffuses to the more sane and measured. James Harden is having a terrible series. Kevin Durant? Look at that so-called star, failing to take the initiative or grab rebounds. There’s always Russell Westbrook. Sure, he showed the most of any Oklahoma City player last night and scored 43 points on 63 percent shooting, but there was that bonehead play at the end and, of course, his untrue point guard play. Even praise for LeBron is infused with backhanded Thunder criticism.
A team with a core of 23-year-olds is not quite ready to win an NBA title. The salient point is a team with a core of 23-year-olds is almost ready to win an NBA title. That’s unbelievable. Isaiah Thomas at 23 was trying to do everything for the Pistons, and not winning. Michael Jordan at 23 was trying to do everything for the Bulls, and not winning. The Pistons had to learn to beat the Celtics and subsequently the Lakers. The Bulls had to learn to beat the Pistons.
The Thunder do not fit the natural mold for a classic, organically created championship team. They supersede it. They have hastened the timetable. Their are unfathomably precocious, yet our media culture demands we needle their flaws. Instead of praising natural progression, we must twist amazing accomplishment into grotesque failure. Next season will be the “can the Thunder overcome their inherent issues” season. It is beyond carving out a narrative. It is perverse.
We have ventured down the slippery slope of PTI/Around the Horn “debate” and “strong opinion” culture to the world of Sportsnation and First Take. Perpetual DEBATE footing breeds arguments that win debates. That comes not through strong reasoning, but emphasis and severity of language. Sports discussion becomes like politics. Disparagement beats praise. Sweeping beats nuanced. Twitter and the Internet only embolden this sentiment. Opinion becomes performative. One must be heard above the mass produced white noise to get attention. The best way to do this is to be blunt, shocking and critical.
Or, perhaps sports media have followed economic decline, reality television and Internet porn into a sick vortex of degradation. Athletic greatness no longer captures the imagination. The disjunction between outlandish success and a jaded reality makes it repellent. We struggle empathizing with genius, but we allay ourselves with schadenfreude easily. We can’t just enjoy a dunk. Some unfortunate soul must be standing in a near enough radius to be emasculated by it with a “facial.”
Watching sports in this climate becomes like “hate watching” bad television. It’s an escape, but not an especially edifying or enjoyable one. If we cannot stop for a second and appreciate one of the finest athletic spectacles any of us will see because we are too busy searching for something to shit on, what’s the point?

removed from the game only because he was menstruating.

Great post …. those Skip tweets are just incredible.

LeBron James, the most capable and dynamic athlete ever to play his and perhaps any sport, has reached his apex, where accrued wisdom coincides with physical ability.
Yuck.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:24 PM
Everyone has noticed Lebron’s postseason.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:24 PM
This is a really good assessment of how access and visibility has changed the way we discuss sports. I just hope you, rather, all of us realize that we’re guilty of it at one point or another. Sure Bayless, Cowherd and Smith have made a living out of it. Yet, we all have espoused an opinion for the sake of attention. Or in some cases, the compensation that comes via the pageview.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:24 PM
the city of cleveland might riot if LeBron wins a title. thank god i’m going to be out of town.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:27 PM
This scares me. It’s happening too. I’ll need a new diversion if it keeps pace.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:27 PM
fuck that…if he wins, im going to be happy as hell for him. if we haven’t already, we gotta get over the decision. it wasn’t that bad in hindsight.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:27 PM
We need to make sure someone asks Dan Gilbert about his infamous promise.
/ never forget the comic sans letter
June 20th, 2012 at 2:29 PM
That honestly seems like ages ago. I still remember the palpable shift in hatred towards Lebron – it was awesome. However, it doesn’t seem so bad now that he’s winning and failed first. I think the failure from 2011 really helped his image actually.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:32 PM
because it was…and i still get shit from coworkers regarding the lebron bobblehead doll on my desk. dude grew up in our little rust belt breakfast nook…support the dude. and if you don’t watch the cavs now because he’s gone, there’s really no room to complain bandwagoner.
/doesn’t watch cavs now
//not complaining
June 20th, 2012 at 2:33 PM
Really now?
June 20th, 2012 at 2:35 PM
While I appreciate Duffy shitting on the ESPNization of sports coverage, I do find the argument to be overreaching. He quoted tweets from Cowterd, Screamin A. and Bayless as material for the argument, which is fine. But those guys aren’t representative of sports media in its entirety.
Are other media sources turning on the Thunder and missing the LBJ Show in these Finals? What are the voices at Yahoo!, Sportsline or FoxSports saying?
June 20th, 2012 at 2:35 PM
I think the hatred towards Lebron would still be near 2010-levels had the Heat won last year after dicking around and chest-slapping one another after made 3 pointers. The loss from the Mavs actually taught them some humility.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:35 PM
I’m looking forward to more Heat-Thunder clashes in the Finals over the next five years. Could definitely be a Lakers-Celtics kind of thing.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:35 PM
Lebron is one of the most freakish natural (ALLEGEDLY) athletes we’ve ever seen. I think the argument can certainly be made that he combined skill with natural capacity as well as anyone has.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:36 PM
the most capable and dynamic athlete ever to play his and perhaps any sport
Really now?
Gotta get the hyperbole chugging.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:36 PM
He’s brought all of this hate on himself, furk him.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:37 PM
Game, set, match. Awesome work, Duffy.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:38 PM
He’s basically Alex ROdriguez, for more reasons than one, in a basketball uniform.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:38 PM
I think the argument can certainly be made that he combined skill with natural capacity as well as anyone has. Mole
Greg Oden?
June 20th, 2012 at 2:38 PM
Wizards pick up Okafor and Ariza from New Orleans for the carcass of Rashard Lewis and a draft pick.
not sure if that’s duckworth’d
June 20th, 2012 at 2:38 PM
Still plenty of places to find reasonable analysis and opinion. For now, anyway. Just don’t turn on your TV. Or radio.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:39 PM
na…lebron’s too good for people to hate him forever. hate him all you want, but then when he makes a pass like he did off the rebound to chalmers late last night reminds everyone how great he is.
plus, might just be me, but d-wade’s emerged as the real bitch of the crew. helps take some of the heat off lebrizzy.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:39 PM
Considering that Lebron is 27, and prep-to-pros stars are still elite nowadays into their low-30s, that leaves Miami with at least a 5 year window of success. I know Wade is going to slow down considerably, but given how weak the East is and will likely remain, I can see Miami going to the NBA Finals for the next 4 years. I really hope its against the Thunder each time.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:39 PM
Spencer, I think the weed has permanently fucked your memory.
/The Decision wasn’t so bad
//McElroy at Congressional > Woods at Pebble
///Pryor > T. Smith
June 20th, 2012 at 2:40 PM
I think the shift in dislike toward LeBron was in motion before when the Cavaliers were posing for fake pictures and dancing on the sidelines in the middle of games. That reeked of immaturity and arrogance. But The Decision touched more than Clevelanders because of the intense narcissism of it, and was exacerbated by the WWE-style introduction shows James, Wade and Bosh starred in. I can understand how it pissed off tons of people. But honestly, who cares? What does LeBron owe YOU? Furthermore, he’s grown up a lot, learned a ton and has shown contrition for the way he went about it. He’s done enough to put The Decision behind him and we should enjoy watching one of the greatest professional athletes in history.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:41 PM
whoa…I NEVER EVER SAID THAT.
wha? aside from beanie, t smiff is my fav buckeye. but as a player, pryor was a monster…speaking of undue hate.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:41 PM
Could not agree more with this.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:42 PM
agreed they should trade wade now while some team can still be tricked into thinking he’s a superstar.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:43 PM
Totally agree. Disliked that guy since 2005 ECF vs. my Pistons.
I find myself disliking the Heat mostly because of their PA guy and idiot “fans.”
June 20th, 2012 at 2:43 PM
The dancing during games while on the Cavs, especially the twirl, was when he was knighted as a monstrous assclown. Even Noah thought he was being a douche.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:44 PM
That Wizards team is…weird.
I thought the Hornets would have had a decent starting five if they re-signed Gordon.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:44 PM
TWO MINUTES, DOS MINUTOS!
June 20th, 2012 at 2:44 PM
Could really use this for any sports figure/team/event, but that would undermine the whole system.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:45 PM
My dislike for Lebron pretty much faded when he decided to shut up, play the game, and not shy away from big moments (Celtics game 5). There’s nothing to hate on when you’re winning in silence.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:45 PM
Wade and Chalmers for Johnson and Teague. The salaries are almost a perfect match!
June 20th, 2012 at 2:45 PM
Part of the fun of sports is not only having someone to cheer for, it’s having someone to cheer against. It’s fine hating LeBron.
What has become of the most public sports outlets isn’t all that bad, either. Most people I know recognize it for what it is and when you actually have a conversation with someone no one behaves or thinks like that. Well, almost no one.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:46 PM
He’s the league’s most maligned player.
I feel like this isn’t quite the word that should have gone here. Hated, maybe? I feel like maligning him would be saying that he sucks as a player and I don’t see that very often. Most maligned would have to be someone like Hasheem Thabeet
June 20th, 2012 at 2:46 PM
I hope Chicago gives them a run in the East once Rose recovers fully from knee surgery. I think that has potential to be a very competitive and visible rivalry.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:46 PM
Dr. Tom, Wizards are getting some half-decent pieces. Wall, Ariza, Okafor, Nene, Jordan Crawford, Singleton, Booker..now if they could just get rid of Blatche and if Vesely had any offensive game at all, they could improve and fight for the 8th seed.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:46 PM
Gotta go younger. Johnson is 31 and has a contract that isn’t getting any better.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA…
/deep breath
…HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
June 20th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
I honestly have no idea and haven’t sought this out… but does ESPN’s programming (other than live sports) get more viewers now than ever?
June 20th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
So Okafor and Nene are gonna play side by side? That’s interesting.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
I hope Chicago gives them a run in the East once Rose recovers fully from knee surgery. I think that has potential to be a very competitive and visible rivalry.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:47 PM
Agreed. After this year I have found Wade to be an insufferable cunt. Which is a dramatic transformation when I actually liked him beating up the Mavs 5 years ago.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:48 PM
it’s not a bad problem to have, considering how bad the wizards have been lately.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:48 PM
We love building athletes up, and then tearing them down, and then building them up again. Everybody loves a great “redemption” story, and apparently this postseason is LeBron’s redemption.
Here’s the thing – a lot of people hated LeBron b/c they thought he was taking the easy way to a title. Anyone who’s watched him this postseason knows that this is not easy. He is earning it every step of the way.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:48 PM
I would agree and don’t dislike the pieces at all, just how they might fit together.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:48 PM
Pele
Mia Hamm
Michael Jordan
Tiger Woods
Wayne Gretzky
Jerry Rice
June 20th, 2012 at 2:48 PM
Yeah, regardless of how quickly Rose gets back, the Bulls need to make a big move to be a serious Finals contender.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:48 PM
You’re never going to forgive Joakim Noah and I’ve accepted that, Spence. It’s OK.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:49 PM
sadly, for bulls fans, nobody will take boozer off their hands.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
Used to be a huge Wade fan in his rookie year with the Odom/Wade tandem, but I’ve grown to dislike him since he acted as if Dirk faked a sickness. This is coming from a man who had to be carried of the court in a wheelchair and routinely over-dramatizes the slightest fall.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
A lot of people still think that way. And always will. That’s why “fan” is short for “fanatic.”
But you’re right – this shit is not easy.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
So Washington is definitely drafting Beal or MKG, whoever is left. Starting five of Wall, MKG/Beal, Ariza, Nene, and Okafor, is decent but again, I don’t see the unit meshing all that well.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
fuck that…if he wins, im going to be happy as hell for him. if we haven’t already, we gotta get over the decision. it wasn’t that bad in hindsight.
i’m right there with you dude. but unfortunately 99% of clevelanders aren’t. at least that’s the vibe i’m still getting.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
Question – does he still do the chalk toss? I havent seen it/noticed it in a while.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
None of them have the physique that Lebron has, he looks like a statue, it’s horrifying.
I think people underestimate how huge he is.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
He’s gone after next season. 2012-13 is pretty much a wash for Chicago. They’ll amnesty Boozer and build around the core that is Rose, Noah, Deng and Gibson.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:51 PM
HA
June 20th, 2012 at 2:51 PM
That was such bullshit. Dirk was coughing all over that microphone after a few of those games last year. It was quite gross, actually.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
I’d start Nene and have Okafor off the bench or vice versa. I just have a feeling that waste Andray Blatche will find his way into the starting lineup at the 4
June 20th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
who was as physically imposing at their position as lebron was? reggie white? mickey mantle/willie mays? bo?
June 20th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
And you just hate Derrick Rose, mole. I’ve accepted that, too.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:52 PM
you laugh now mole, but look at all the other things aside from explosive athleticism rose brings to the PG position.

Golf clap.
With post-modernism there are no facts only interpretations. The inherent value of a statement is without objective merit. Without objective merit the delivery of the commentary or commentator itself becomes the only value. Cue the rise of athlete commentators (In my experience as a player..) and blustering idiots (Aaron Rodgers can’t win the big game) we arrive at our present media situation. Talk about your experiences or just be as fucking loud as possible.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
you win.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
George Mikan.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
mole – i am not hating on LeBron at all, merely point out the shaky ground on which Duffy has built that comment. There are plenty of other athletes who dominate their sport (and could possibly have dominated other sports) in the way that LeBron is currently doing. Hell, wake me up when he dominates like Jordan.
Yes, he is a freak of nature. Actually saw him ball in HS, and it was even more scary back then. He was a man among boys, with still plenty of growing to do.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
who was as physically imposing at their position as lebron was? reggie white? mickey mantle/willie mays? bo?
Jim Brown.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:53 PM
Probably Magic. Well, and Shaq. But I agree with you guys.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Basketball players are the best athletes on Earth when you combine strength, speed, agility and size. Now take all of that and amplify it to a very large frame. The guy is like an advanced human.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Wayne Gretzky
If we’re talking simply pure natural athletic ability then it’s Lemieux.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
I haven’t seen or noticed it in a while either. Hm.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
good one…he was as big as his linemen back then.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
Question, do people hate LeBron because of his V-shapedness and what lessons can MLB learn from the fact that Thunder must now blow up their choking excuse for a basketball team?
June 20th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
Lebron James, catalyst for The Eugenics Wars.

June 20th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
And it’s not even close. Granted, Mario’s idea of conditioning was cutting back on the Kools and only getting one order of fries, but the man was an adonis.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
Wilt is the first name that comes to mind.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:56 PM
I know he’s more style than substance by Alex Ovechkin is one hell of an athletic specimen for a hockey player.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:57 PM
You’re asking to be woken up when he rivals the player widely regarded as the greatest ever? Seems like having standards that high for him would validate much of his ability. Or are you opposing what seems like an early deification of James?
June 20th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
Night Train Lane.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
Don’t tell people who to like and not like. Maybe respect, sure. I respect Lebron’s game. Sure, I enjoy seeing him fail. But I am free to hate him.
I like my sports people aligned in like and dont like. They dont give a shit about fans, I dont need to give a shit about them or their “growth”. If you fall into the “meh” column you’re not compelling to me. When I have to start liking everybody, puhlease.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
I don’t know, I still think hockey requires a lot more skills/athletic ability.
/ Canadian’d
June 20th, 2012 at 2:59 PM
I know there will be plenty of names listed here of fantastic and world-class athletes. But seriously, take a very thorough look at LeBron when he’s on that floor standing during a timeout or in the middle of the lane surrounded by others. It will shock you.
June 20th, 2012 at 2:59 PM
Granted, Mario’s idea of conditioning was cutting back on the Kools and only getting one order of fries, but the man was an adonis.
Out of the game for three years, comes back and puts up 1.75 PPG in a era of depressed scoring. Physical tools unlike anyone before him and arguably anyone after him.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:00 PM
Ronaldo too.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:00 PM
I’m not sure how others feel, but this is where my dislike from LeBron stemmed from. The acceptance of monikers like the Chosen One before he’d done anything of note in the Association. Mistakes an 18 year old kid who didn’t know how to handle success was supposed to make. He’s now accomplished a lot of things as an individual and I’ll never doubt his athletic ability. He’s going to win a team award this year and it will be because he was the greatest and most valuable player on that team 95% of the nights they took the floor.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:00 PM
Shaq.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:01 PM
That is still 2 years down the road. East could change quite a bit by then. If Indiana could get a PG they would be a very solid team in the East. If Nash wound up in NY they would be a tough out for a couple years and I suppose if Boston can get the old guys to sign for paltry sums they might still be able to drag their existence out for a couple of more years.
Having thought it over more the only hope for the Heat not winning titles is the West.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:02 PM
So worst at concealing their receding hairline, Lebron’s triple headband or Boozer’s ink/ painted dome?

This is one of the reasons i’ve always respected Spencer096…Love his open mind and humor. As for Duffy, blame the Thunder, blame the refs, blame it on the rain,I don’t give a fuck. Just give Lebron his props….he’s earned it.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:04 PM
Probably more this than anything. However, compound that with what will inevitably be an athlete who comes up shy of everyone’s expectations of him and it makes it worse. Thats not to take away from say the point NDub is making in that LeBron is a specimen unlike what we have seen in some time, but shouldn’t the biggest and fastest and tallest and bestest everest be winning all the awards and championships every year? I mean why even play the game, if we can just award the best on-paper team or player the championship ahead of time?
June 20th, 2012 at 3:05 PM
not that this has anything to do with anything but it’s funny how many PGA pros said the exact same thing about tiger woods before he turned pro.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:05 PM
Dr. Tom – don’t forget about that “pick” set on him against the Bulls, I believe it was. That was weeeeeeaaak.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:06 PM
When Lemieux came back, I was able to get tickets for a home PIT game them vs. the Islanders. THey only had half a season so those tickets were hard to come buy.
It was hat night and they beat the Islandrs 8-1 with Jagr getting the trick. Mario scored two and had a ton of assists. All the fans chucking hat night hats on the ice was AWESOME.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:07 PM

1) Mario
2) Gary Suter

June 20th, 2012 at 3:07 PM
I think this argument and the intensity it produces on both sides is why I don’t read or watch much sports media opinion. I enjoy watching the competition more than anything, it doesn’t matter who is playing to me and I couldn’t care less what their off-the-cout behavior may be.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:08 PM
Bron-Wade-Bosh are piling up LOTS of minutes the past two seasons. Now add the Olympics. I see them all missing time. They will win less in the regular season but as long as the Big 3 are healthy in the playoffs, watch out.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:11 PM
And fuck the “sports guy” and his asterisk. The Thunder is crazy-good and beat an awesome Spurs team. The Heat has earned it.
June 20th, 2012 at 3:11 PM
i was under the impression that lebron had only been playing three quarters of basketball before this…surely he can’t be THAT beat up.

see, i dont have to get over it at all. why should i? its something that i really hated (and that no superstar has ever done), along with his quitting and undermining his coach. i will give lebron credit as he deserves it, and he certainly deserves it here. He has played his ass off. but i in no way need to get over it.

Old Kobe is still a douche.

no superstar has ever tested free agency when their contract was up?
as for undermining mike brown…mike brown was another shovelful away from a cave in as it was. dude prolly would’ve been fired if lbj stayed simply for incompetence.

Basketball players are the best athletes on Earth when you combine strength, speed, agility and size.

no, no superstar has ever had a TMZ produced narcissist show to announce the results of testing free agency.

Not this summer. Next summer.

This is a good post and I agree with everything you’ve written, but you do realize that you write for a blog that has a particular EIC who perpetuates much of the nonsense that you’re bemoaning?

Lebron would be easier to cheer for if he weren’t such a gigantic cocksucking douche.

He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated under the title Chosen One as a JUNIOR in HIGH SCHOOL. That name was bestowed upon him, just as Sports Illustrated did with Tiger before and Bryce Harper afterwards. He didn’t do “nothing” at that point in time to earn have people hit him with those monikers. Sports Illustrated didn’t put a high school Junior on its cover because he hadn’t done anything. ESPN didn’t televise his high school basketball games because he hadn’t accomplished anything. They didn’t play his games in arenas because he hadn’t done anything. The dude was a prodigy and everyone wanted to watch and/or have a piece of him and he came through. Thats why they called him King James and the Chosen One, and all things considered he has handled it and come through it exceptionally well.

SC hated alexander when he started calling himself alexander the great at 20 for the same reason.

And everyone knows SI tattooed “CHOSEN 1″ across his back against his will too.

Because if you were 18, didn’t know your father, mom was in prison, and everyone you know is telling you you’re the best player ever, you’d be making just super responsible decisions all the time.
My parents were awesome, I had no one telling me I was great, and I did retarded shit all the time. 10 years later no one was holding me to.
He should be celebrated for what he’s overcome rather than vilified because he didn’t have anyone to teach him better.

Hating on a man for a tatoo he got as a kid. Of all the tats in the world, why would you be mad at a tat an 18 year old kid with an innocuous nickname? Kenyon Martin can go through life with lipstick tatooed on the side of his head, but LeBron gets hated on for a tat that says Chosen One? The LeBron Hate Bandwagon is just like any other bandwagon; the riders don’t even know why they’re on board.

I don’t know how Carl Hubbell made the Hall of Fame with his arrogance.

It’s kind of like Obama and his supporters. The supporters all said that he’s the answer and will turn things around. Now that they realize Obama is just a blowhard and incapable of anything, they have disappeared.
June 20th, 2012 at 4:55 PM
We haven’t disappeared, we’re just too busy hiding his real birth certificate from you freedom fighters.
June 20th, 2012 at 7:16 PM
Not mad. Your previous comment seemed to imply that people were wrong for blaming him for the “chosen one” nickname. While he may have been given the nickname by others, he’s the one who chose to tattoo that shit across his back. Regardless of how much you love the guy, you have to admit that is ridiculous. Athletes I typically root for would have been humble about the praise being bestowed upon them, even at 18.

Hey man, I’m not here to knock you. People gain motivation from different sources. If your motivation of hate/disdain/anger at LeBron is a tattoo that says Chosen One, then more power to you. I just have difficulty understanding the intensity of those emotions based on a tattoo.
