US Open Rooster Guy: No Charges Because He Committed No Crime
US Open Rooster Guy Andrew James Dudley is off the hook. Much to the chagrin of Bob Costas and NBC, Dudley will not face any charges because all he did was “make a bird noise,” according to police.
Dudley was not arrested for disturbing the interview but was held in a police station drunk tank after officers determined he was inebriated, said Albie Esparza, a police spokesman. Dudley was released when he sobered up.
Police did not arrest Dudley, concluding he did nothing illegal, Esparza said.
“There is no trespassing, since he had a ticket to be there,” Esparza said. “All he did was go on the green of the 18th hole and make a bird noise.”
What animal noise will we hear at the PGA Championship in August? I’m already giddy at the thought of Jim Nantz‘s reaction to some guy mooing like a cow after Tiger Woods some random wins the title. [SF Gate via Andrew]

Can we stop calling him a rooster? It’s just some stupid Union Jack knitted hat.
June 19th, 2012 at 1:19 PM
No Charges Because He Committed No Crime
But it’s been no bed of roses for him dealing with all this stuff.

June 19th, 2012 at 1:26 PM
And that is definitely not a rooster call

Agree he’s damn good. For some reason though, I just don’t like him. Probably his stupid long putter and slow play.

You got the hen, the chicken and the rooster. The rooster goes with the chicken. So, who’s having sex with the hen?

i hate the soap opera him and his caddy paul tesori put on…combine that with what you said and the fact nobody likes hearing about how jesus blessed a rich white guy professional golfer, i should hate him.
he’s just so damn good.

Worst golf wardrobe I have seen this side of the pond.
I mentioned this SUN eve, he honestly looked like an LPGA player with his clothing choices. His look was terrible and the lobster face is embarrassing. It’s tough to respect a man who doesnt respect himself. That sweater vest was stolen from Pat Bradley’s closet.

Correct, I believe the call resembles a peacock.

Ryan Moore is cool as hell and I’d love to talk to him. I’ve been saying this for a while but I think his day at a major will come. He went a year or two without any sponsors b/c he wanted to wear and play whatever he wanted.
Sick iron game. Avg-Good in all aspects. No real weaknesses to his game. Just nothing definitive either.

phenomenal putter…disagree on his iron game. hasn’t finished higher than 60th in GIR’s in the past five years and three of those years he was WELL below 100th ranked.

spencer – talked to my boy who builds clubs on the pga last week in nashville. he said he traded another guy for a set of Miura irons a while back with no intention of putting shafts on them. but after a while he became too curious, threw some shafts on, and took em to a range. he said they are crazy long and you can def tell the high quality forge.
June 19th, 2012 at 1:53 PM
Damn his iron game is pretty. Gotta get that turned around my man. In fairness, he wore the painters cap before it got turned into a hipster statement.

June 19th, 2012 at 1:56 PM
plus…true linkswear shoes. respect.
June 19th, 2012 at 1:58 PM
miura, scratch or mizuno?
i’ve only hit 1 of the 3, but i don’t think i’m leaving mizuno anytime soon.
if i ever became a 2 or less, i’d dish out the $1400 for a set of Miuras before i did the same for scratch.
June 19th, 2012 at 2:00 PM
yea, kinda the boat im in. ive never hit scratch irons, but have hit their wedges.
id put the ping s56 irons in that ratified class too. really great set.
June 19th, 2012 at 2:04 PM
anyone that’s been as successful as Ping for as long as they have obviously is doing something right. it just seems to me that Ping people are exclusively Ping; they don’t play any other clubs (maybe wedges). i repect that, but im not a Ping person.
June 19th, 2012 at 2:09 PM
that might be because of their contract requirements (gotta have a ping putter and driver…only up to two non-ping clubs). ping’s just so polarizing…cast vs. forged and all that.
June 19th, 2012 at 2:15 PM
that might be because of their contract requirements
i wasn’t limiting it to tour players, fool.
June 19th, 2012 at 2:19 PM
oh, my bad. probably because i don’t know anyone that plays ping.
June 19th, 2012 at 2:30 PM

I’m fairly certain that was Brady Hoke.
June 19th, 2012 at 2:34 PM
I got a pair of these this year. Love ‘em.
June 19th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
ohheelyea…i play mizuno mp67′s.
if you’re looking for new irons, gimme a lil more info…do you take much of a divot? play/practice a lot? what you playing now?
June 19th, 2012 at 3:02 PM
wow I like those reverse-saddle linkswear shoes. Also, the red/white shoes Hunter wore on SAT (?) were boss.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:04 PM
Typically don’t take as much of a divot as need be, as I dont always strike down on the ball. I leave it thin more often than not. Haven’t played much since college, so very little in the last 5-6 years. Currently playing a set of taylormade RAC’s that get the job done, but if I buy a new set I want it to be something I can grow into but not a set of players irons or very unforgiving blades (not yet, anyway)
June 19th, 2012 at 3:05 PM
Also, I will probably be joining the country club in town soon, so I will play more frequently and will be going to the range a lot more often.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:08 PM
ooo…RAC’s. i like.
what cc you joining?
if you’re in the market for something new, the ping i20′s are money as are the mizuno jpx800′s. something used/discounted id look at the TM r9/r9tp, ping i15 or adams cb1. could always find a set of mizuno mp60′s or mp57′s for cheap too.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:12 PM
I love the RAC’s, but I didn’t want to get too close to them when I make the jump. I like the AP1 712′s from Titelist, mainly because they look and sound so clean in addition to being more forgiving than their other offerings. However, I am not married to any one manufacturer, and have always thought highly of the MP lines. We used to sell the hell out of the MP57′s when I worked at Gordons Golf and Ski in Greenville.
I think, in this day and age, its super hard to choose the wrong set of irons. even the oversized stuff play better than they ever have. The real question is should I go off the rack, big box (or Golfsmith) and save some cash or pay it forward and go get fitted for some clubs from a local store.
Also, the club is New Bern CC
June 19th, 2012 at 3:13 PM
heelyeah, this is something I do which is kinda lame but I dont apologize for it.
Everytime I strike up a b.s. converstation with guys I play with or on the range, I ask permission to hit a shot or two with their clubs. It gets you hitting all brands and types of clubs. THen you have some basis on the feel and weighting you are looking for.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:16 PM
damn you should just save on irons and layout for a ridiculous putter and wedges
June 19th, 2012 at 3:16 PM
scripty – ha, thats too funny; my ex boss (former PGA teacher of the year from the 90′s) would do that all the time. He’d offer them a tip or two, ask to hit their clubs, tell them a few things about their set, and then watch them make instant improvements. Then, he would casually mention who he was and what he did, and a few weeks later they were paying him for lessons.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:17 PM
def that and be on the lookout for demo days…you can really put the clubs thru their paces.
but yea, i think you’re right that’s it’s hard to go wrong…there’s jsut so much good stuff out there. the oversized stuff has become less clunky and the players irons have become more forgiving, even the blades. and that’s not even talking about the custom shafts available these days.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:18 PM
yeah, i’ve been thinking along those lines too. However, I still feel I could get the ex-employee discount, and at the same time incrementally upgrade the rest of the bag, i.e. driver, woods, rescue, wedges, putter, and every damn thing else. I figure now is the time to do these things, as I don’t have kids yet and my tahoe is paid off
June 19th, 2012 at 3:21 PM
this is a dangerous road you’re going down…
/shakes off withdrawls from golf club addiction
June 19th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
my main thing with clubs is I hate to blame the club for errors. Until I am down to a single I hate to tinker too much. I’ve been in 12-16 range the past few years but that’s with newborns.
The Cleveland wedges I put in were an immediate shot reducer and an honestly I’d guess my hybrids save me .5 to 1.5 a round as well. Its amazing how I can stop shots with my wedges I couldnt do a few years ago before I got them.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:24 PM
I know, and it was sooooooooooo much easier when I got employee discounts!
June 19th, 2012 at 3:26 PM
i don’t tinker but i do test the living shit out of everything i can get my hands on.
agreed with the wedges…my new nike’s were an immediate improvement over my old vokey’s. driver’s the other important one…get the shaft with a bend profile that fits your swing and it’ll pay HUGE dividends.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
i hear yah on good wedges and hybrids. I am firmly on team 1-2 hybrids/rescues and 4 wedges in my bag. If i never hit another 3 iron it wont be too soon. I don’t hit it bad per say, but i enjoy the rescue and hybrid stuff more for the simple fact it does seem to shave a stroke or two.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:30 PM
either of you hit the new vokey sm4′s yet?
/loves anything with an oilcan/natural finish
June 19th, 2012 at 3:32 PM
yea…i have my 3i blade which feels great when you flush it, but you get nothing on mishits. why i have it and the 4i in my bag when i hit my 5 a hair shorter than both is beyond me.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:36 PM
yep…back in march i put every wedge golf galaxy had through their paces for about three hours.
i thought the sm4′s were ok…you know what you’re getting with a vokey. i thought the nike vr pro’s were heads and shoulders better tho…only the mizuno’s and new callaway’s were comparable. just my opinion tho.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:37 PM
Golf Channel is showing the ’95 Open Championship final round today. Daly and his mullet on full display.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:37 PM
what’d you like about the vr pro’s so much?
June 19th, 2012 at 3:40 PM
the sole grind on the 60* (their new dual sole) and spin.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:43 PM
awesome…DVR’d what’s left.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:50 PM
That St. Andrews? The crowd gasp at Rocca’s chili dip is great. Then the putt thru The Valley. I think Daly’s in the clubhouse watching on TV and then Azinger and somebody else come over and cheerlead him to get his head right for the playoff.
Its amazing how the ball just continues down that fairway on 18 at Andrews. The runout is astonishing. Guys dont even hit driver on that anymore.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:52 PM
/loves anything with an oilcan/natural finish
I have the oil drench finish on my Clevelands.
I always loved the berillium copper pings from the 80/90′s. One day I’d love to have a whole set w/ that finish.
June 19th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
YES.
not beryllium, but id kill for a teryllium circle T buttonback.
June 19th, 2012 at 4:01 PM
scripty – always loved the EYE2 irons in the beryllium
Those Teryllium putters are getting serious money on ebay these days. Had one for a brief moment in time, then made 50 bucks off of it on ebay and was the king of the world.

June 19th, 2012 at 4:08 PM
Yeah, at least for now. Hope it doesnt go this high:

However, I would send back that stripped one from your link and have it refinished.
June 19th, 2012 at 4:10 PM
it won’t go that high unless it’s a circle t, in exceptional condition or is a teryllium ten.
from what ive read, restoration on those things can get a lil pricey since removing and handling the insert requires some care and expertise. totally worth it tho once you get that beautiful black finish contrasting with the dots and toned insert. just beautiful.
June 19th, 2012 at 4:10 PM
you’ve got me considering eating nothing but trader joe’s burritos for a month while i buy this.
June 19th, 2012 at 4:13 PM
Teryllium Ten is a grail putter for me, but I don’t have to worry because as far as I can remember they never made a LH version.
Also, you should check out http://www.theartofputters.com. TONS of circle T putters for sale, but they only list the prices in their email blasts
June 19th, 2012 at 4:17 PM
Just bought an almost complete set (2-SW), never had the tarnish removed, original microtaper shafts. Picked up a BeCu Zing 2 putter to match.
June 19th, 2012 at 4:24 PM
I’d go for a TP Mills but I grew up with one. THere was a Stingray in the Cameron/Mills style at Play it Again for $150. Looks like it was used for 1 round.
June 19th, 2012 at 4:27 PM
TP Mills make some sweet putters too, and last time I checked (3 years ago) they were actually taking orders for custom stuff.
June 19th, 2012 at 4:32 PM
Yeah I’ve been on there site, they do a bit of both, you’re in that boutique range of $500-1000, mostly 700 ish.
I’ve read where guys try to locate old ones (not the mass produced ones) and then heat the faces and re-plate them.
I owned a tp mills 12. I putted like a god inside 10 feet but stuggled outside 18 feet, so I moved on just last year as an iron game improvement had necessitated a need for improved lag putting. Also, 14 years of use and some youthful neglect had beat up the face a touch. I own two of though and those could be tossed back in the rotation one day, don’t want the current putter to get complacent.
June 19th, 2012 at 4:51 PM
my mom’s ex-bf had a spalding TP mills 7 that i borrowed for a round and gave back the next day because it was better than my scotty. thing was beat to shit (he used it when he was playing pro in arizona in the 80′s)…my god did it feel great.
id get a new mills in a heartbeat…love em.
only problem with putters is that everytime i try something new out or see something great on the net, i go and roll my scotty and it usually nips that in the bud. it’s not that my scotty’s great or anything, but i can’t imagine any putter being THAT much better to justify replacing it.
June 19th, 2012 at 5:06 PM
I’m searching for the right weight/roll combo. I was frustrated with my lag putting and my best friend won like three putters in a month at outings, so he gave me this max fli putter. It rolls great and true but it’s still a touch lighter than I’d like for lag putts.
Ideally, I’d find a TP Mills classic design with a heavier weight and a modern insert/facing. One day….
June 19th, 2012 at 5:10 PM
That 7 looks potent in the hands of an older man who knows how to wield it. I think the 2nd one I grabbed out of a bargain bin (haha!) was a 9. I’ve put some lead tape on that as an experiment and that’s the one I’ll tinker with before I touch my preferred one.
June 19th, 2012 at 5:50 PM
i have four 2.5g tungsten balls and 1g of cork by the bottom of the shaft…i think with the grip on, the weight came in at 352g @ 34″. really like this weight, but you’re prolly better off going lighter the more you use your wrists.
btw, i was wrong about the model…it wasn’t a 7, it was a 1. it was beat to shit but unbelievable. loved the pencil neck hosel.
June 19th, 2012 at 5:51 PM
got the model wrong, but that’s def the model he had…google search gave me some bunk results.
June 19th, 2012 at 6:09 PM
Next time I re-grip I’ll look into that weighting method. That was unknown to me. THANKS
