Mets Ride Dickey to Second Straight One-Hitter
Mets starter R.A. Dickey was at it again Monday night, throwing a second consecutive one-hitter against the Orioles at Citi Field.
The lone hit allowed by the engaging Lord of the Rings-obsessed knuckler was a single in the fifth inning to, you guessed it, Wilson Betemit. Back-to-back one-hitters against the Rays and Orioles, two thriving members of the overwhelming AL East? That’s certainly an impressive feat, and given how likable of a player he is, there’s no shame in hopping on Dickey’s wagon like an uninhibited pornstar.
Over his last 32-2/3 innings pitched, he’s struck out 39, walked two, and has not allowed an earned run.
If you don’t know much about Dickey, take a gander at this Q&A from Sunday’s New York Post. The sitdown includes some humorous nuggets to go along with a slew of fantastic, transparent responses.

He’s tied with Verlander for the MLB lead in strikeouts. As a freaking knuckle-baller!

Also, according to Elias, R.A. Dicke has 5 straight starts of 0 ER and 8 or more strikeouts, which is the longest streak in MLB history.

If RA Dickey’s allegations in his autobiography are true, he was getting ridden even as a child.
