Dickey Credits Orel For Success
Hershiser, that is. Buck Showalter, too.
“He gave me the canvas to be able to operate on. He was the guy; he and Orel kind of pushed me in that direction. I’m thankful they did.”
R.A. Dickey, 37, is New York’s new Jeremy Lin. I’m just waiting for Johan Santana to play the role of Carmelo Anthony.
Had enough Dickey? Brace yourself — there’s more Dickey coming later.

Well, at least you didn’t mention Phil Niekro. Because Dickey is not that no matter how many comparisons have been made in the last week or so. Nice little run for him though. Considering his past, I doubt he maintains this in the 2nd half of the season. Sell high.

Boooooooooooooooooooooo

Suddenly the Mets are loaded.
June 19th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
He’s just practicing for when the NBA is over in 5 days and there’s gotta be a way to wedge it into posts for the next 4 months.

Orel Hershiser is fucking terrible on the College World Series.

R.A. Dickey, 37, is New York’s new Jeremy Lin
Is this more in that he’s a MVP Candidate, or that he has had a Kung-Fu grip on the league for the last week.
June 19th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
There is no mention of Jeremy Lin in that article.
June 19th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
Pageviews!

At first I was thinking the linked article was making the Lin comparison so I was ready to think that writer a fool but alas, a CNTL+F on “lin” only brought up the middle of words
June 19th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
i too, credit oral for a lot of my success.

R.A. Dickey, 37, is New York’s new Jeremy Lin.
Can we get a little explanation, I don’t get it.

Jared Diamond is a phenomenal name for a baseball writer.
Alternatively.
Jared Diamond? That’s a stupid name. Who would read that?

Sunday vs. the Yankees is when that scoreless inning streak comes to a close. That’s a lineup that has a fair amount of experience against knucklers and a ballpark that can produce a 314 foot home run.

Johnny Damon was pretty elite in LF last night. Derek Lowe has become shit. Need Fausto back ASAP.

remember when Clown tried to make a story of that link, Scripty?
he was tweeting it out as if there was something wrong, trying to make me look bad.
Definitely a good job, good effort
June 19th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
just imagine if he played in NYC, he’d probably also be given a Silver Slugger award
June 19th, 2012 at 10:28 AM
By the way, @TheBigLead ‘s twitter page now looks like a poster for a lost season of Entourage.
June 19th, 2012 at 10:29 AM
You, alright. I learned it by watching you.

June 19th, 2012 at 10:49 AM
when I receive oral, i seem to perform better too
June 19th, 2012 at 10:49 AM
If you don’t know Dickey’s story (elbow issue diagnosed by Ranger’s team physician looking at an SI cover photo) – it’s interesting.
Especially noting the fact that the Rangers withdrew their original offer to him. I hate the Mets but it’s a good story.
June 19th, 2012 at 10:50 AM
I dont think his wife will be too happy about this
I don’t think your husband will be too happy about this.

Orel Hershiser is fucking terrible on the College World Series.
After enduring Billy Ripken for the Braves-Orioles Fox game, Hershiser is a dramatic step toward positive.
June 19th, 2012 at 10:52 AM
Cute headline
June 19th, 2012 at 10:55 AM
Dickey came after Orel.

June 19th, 2012 at 10:57 AM
As someone with a lot of experience dealing with a knuckleballer, don’t get your hopes up too high. It’s a fickle pitch, and it can turn for the worse very quickly.
June 19th, 2012 at 10:58 AM
was on here last week talking about infiniti pools and now TBL changes his pic to one….coincidence? me thinks not
June 19th, 2012 at 11:11 AM
True enough, though Wakefield certainly never pitched at this level.
June 19th, 2012 at 11:45 AM
I’m not the one to get offended really at all, but “Dickey credits Orel for success” may be in a bit of poor taste in this instance. Just a couple months ago he detailed his history of being sexually abused as a child and was suicidal while in the minors. Heard him discuss it on Rome.
June 19th, 2012 at 1:18 PM
Sucks he didn’t pitch that well for the Rangers.
