Hockey Mom, perhaps upset that one referee is watching the players fight while her son is getting slugged, decided to storm the ice in an effort to break things up. It worked. I loved this description from the Boston Channel:

The unidentified woman, who was wearing a pink jacket and carrying her purse, marched onto the ice waving her finger and screaming at both the players and refs to break up the fight.

I would have loved to have seen her take the purse upside the head of a referee.
