dad finds his daughter being sexually assaulted, beats man to death
That’s a completely unreasonable response.
He should’ve beaten him to within an inch of his life, skinned him and set him out in the woods somewhere for the turkey vultures to pick at him for the last several hours of his life.
June 12th, 2012 at 8:39 AM
I was just about to say that I can’t imagine anyone objecting to the father beating the guy to death, and then I saw squawkbox’s comment and he said everything much better than I was going to.

According to Forbes, Pera actually dipped from a net worth estimated at $1.5 billion to slightly below the billionaire line last week when a recent financial slump saw Ubiquiti’s stock drop from a high of nearly $36 per share last month to under $15 a share. But sources close to the talks expressed confidence Monday that the slump is only temporary and that it’s unlikely to prevent Pera’s bid from being approved by league officials.

The Memphis Grizzlies have a new owner – Michael Heisley sold the team to Robert Pera, who is 34 and one of the richest billionaires in the world.
Per the article, he was one of the youngest billionaires, not richest, and now due to some falling stock is listed as a “centimillionaire.”

I actually didn’t get to keep up with most of the game because of a little league game, but I saw where Baylor left 11 guys on and the bases loaded twice. wondering if the ending to Game 2 was still on their minds. I’m still shocked the Hogs are going with their putrid offense. I like getting Kent State first though.

I’m finding these arguments/complaints to be tiresome. I don’t think much was happening civil rights-wise on Madison Avenue.
The thing that surprises me more is the complete lack of sports references save for the Muhammad Ali fight in Season 4.

why are there no civil rights plotlines in Mad Men?
The one dude who was a Hare Chrisna was all about the civil rights movement. I think I read an interview iwth Weiner where he said it would not be accurate to have prominent male black employees of SCDP. Sadly, they didn’t exist. Also — with the main players of the show, do you think they would care about the Civil Rights movement? Not exactly the right demographic.

June 12th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
The show is about the characters and how they experience life. They’re rich white guys stuck in another time, and therefore, we won’t see much of Civil Rights until it directly effects the characters. When it did – as clearly shown in the first episode of this season and later during the Hari-Krishna stuff – it was used in the story.
With the show currently in 1967, I’d guess Mr. MLK and his movement will play into the next season.

your long wait for my dental update is over
background: had not been for over a decade, am going for coffee staining that is out of control, had a third-world experience when i was a kid that has me dentist-phobic
first visit i laid it on the table–i’m a pussy when it come to teeth pain…not gum pain, nerve in the the teeth pain, and that i’d be wanting the maximum painkiller, and laughing gas or valium…just for cleaning
she gave me x-rays and tried to diagnose my teeth using a sharp metal thing and i told her no. i think it turned her on. anyway, she figured i needed deep cleaning all over and few fillings here and there. all in all, not too bad. the wife went with, not for support but for entertainment
yesterday, we did the first quadrant, upper left. only cleaning. i made sure the laughing gas mask fit right and that she gave me two shots. forgot how fun a numb face can be. she did her thing, the laughing gas didn;t really work but the painkiller did, so i now have a scrip for 5mg tablets of valium for the rest of the work. i can take 10mg a day, and i will

Also, the private sector is doing fine.
Shall we bring up Mitt’s “we don’t need teachers, firefighters or police” slip up? This tit for tat shit is ultimately killing the American political system and thus ruining us. Mitt should’ve saved this for the debate with the President. Instead, he lets 24-7 media do the bullshit work, then he tries to capitalize on it and makes a dumb fucking gaffe himself.
AMERICA!

Anyone have a new playlist suggestion for Spotify? I need to change things up a bit from old people rock.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:17 AM
So Rapelisberger will start the 2012 season on the PUP list then?
June 12th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
I’m glad I’ll still have friends and family to visit, but not too bummed about leaving. Expensive as hell and not too many jobs that don’t involve craft brewing.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
Haha no, hadn’t heard about that.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:18 AM
Roger Sterlings tangential addressing of it during the Derby Day party wasn’t enough?
just now watching season 4. sterling is a gem but his reaction to Honda was ucomfortable. good to see campbell with some nuts
June 12th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
The most important question. Was she hot?
June 12th, 2012 at 10:20 AM

June 12th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
So Rapelisberger will start the 2012 season on the PUP list then?
Funny you should say that. Saw this on KSK the other day…
“HI NEW PERSON! THE BEN SOON BE DAD! TEACH LITTLE BEN IMPORTANT LESSON LIKE HOW POTTY TRAIN GIRLS AGAINST WILL”
June 12th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
True. I still have friends there that I go visit, there has been a serious craft brewing boom there. Its completely different from when I moved there in the late 90s.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:23 AM
I’ve seen, done, been involved in some crazy shit in my life, but the only thing that actually intimidates me (read: scares the fuck out of me) is the dentist. Last time I went to have some fillings done, my dentist prescribed me what essentially was a double dose of Halcyon (“I’m not saying to take all three, but…”). As luck would have it, I adrenaline’d my way through it, was fully aware of everything, and then got home and promptly slept for 18 hours. Next time, they seriously have to damn near kill me with sedatives.

True, The One would never try to capitalize on an opponent’s slip-up during an election year.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:25 AM
As many as you like. Meanwhile, Zeke is waiting to take Geno Auriemma‘s place on the U.S. women’s Olympic team
June 12th, 2012 at 10:26 AM
I’d take 20 mg, twice a day. I keeps it 100.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:27 AM
Nothing turns on a hot girl like a dude crying about how scared he is of the dentist. I’m sure she used some of her lace bra to wipe up your tears.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:27 AM
True, The One would never try to capitalize on an opponent’s slip-up during an election year.
Perhaps you didn’t hear me the first time: “This tit for tat shit is ultimately killing the American political system and thus ruining us.”
I don’t like it when Obama does it, and I don’t like it when Romney does it. I especially don’t like it when somebody tries to capitalize on this crap, only to make an ass out of themself in the process.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:30 AM
Man… when I got my wisdom teeth out, I couldn’t afford general, so he just gave me gas and novacaine, and I didn’t like the feel of the gas (felt like I was suffocating), so I just had him shoot up the novacaine and dig in.
The only bad part was when I asked a question, and he said “hang on a minute” then reached in and stabbed through a tooth and pulled it out.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:31 AM
know who’s got a great medieval torture display? your local Medieval Times, the one where you eat chicken legs and swig medieval budweiser while watching actors ride horses and fake battle
June 12th, 2012 at 10:33 AM
That’s a rude thing to say about Minka’s cankles.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
Also, the private sector is doing fine.
i’ve been out of the political lopp for, um, most of my life, but i see obama is having a bad week. can someone update me on this statement^^ as well as some spy problem too?
saw some fox news last night at the gym
June 12th, 2012 at 10:34 AM
it’s too bad the 24/7 cable news outlets are the ones that keep this going. rather than actually talking about the economy, we’re talking about a soundbite out of context that ultimately won’t have any impact come election day.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:35 AM
But… if we didn’t waste time on pointless shit like this we might be forced to have a rational, substantive debate on pressing issues. Constant one upsmanship is so much more fun!
June 12th, 2012 at 10:36 AM
Re: dentist visits…
Had my wisdom teeth pulled out in college. They gave me novacaine and gas and I was out in a few minutes. When they began raising the chair with me laid back in it, I felt like I was levitating toward the ceiling.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:36 AM
did you wake up to find your underwear on backwards?

Know whoe else engages in constant one-upsmanship? Elementary school kids trading insults. I should know: I was doing it.

Not sure if they’ll be down your alley or not, but 3 of my favorites right now are Foster the People, Young the Giant, and The Joy Formidable.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:46 AM

June 12th, 2012 at 10:50 AM

oh yeah kaiser. mole and me love this band. if you only get one disc, get In It For The Money, and if you find the version with the bonus disc, you’re set for life
June 12th, 2012 at 10:51 AM
For prog, try Arzachel or H.P. Lovecraft. Very early examples, but worth it. And Capt. Beefheart.
Jazz: Try fusion. Miles Davis, In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew. Anything by Herbie Hancock. Jeff Beck, Wired and Blow By Blow.
June 12th, 2012 at 10:51 AM
Should be “Ancient Aliens and Nazis Channel”
June 12th, 2012 at 10:55 AM

June 12th, 2012 at 10:56 AM
Bitches Brew
Unbelievable album! The limited edition beer by Dogfish with the same name was really good too.
June 12th, 2012 at 11:01 AM
I am transfixed every time that ancient aliens dude with the wild hair comes on. I read that his hair actually has its own Facebook page.

Pretty easy on the eyes, too. She’s a real headcase.
June 12th, 2012 at 11:12 AM
I wasted most of last Sunday watching an “Ancient Aliens” marathon on History.
June 12th, 2012 at 11:14 AM
In what was likely the worst SNL season ever for musical guests (Karmin, etc.), she was the lowlight.
