Ben Roethlisberger announced on his website yesterday that he and his wife Ashley are expecting a baby boy later this year. Doing a little investigative work, and relying on my own extensive experience, I can say that since he identified the sex of the child, the due date will be no later than the first week of December. The earliest they can identify the sex is at about 15 weeks, with the more likely scenario closer to 20 weeks.

Unless Ben Roethlisberger is announcing it several weeks after finding out that it was a boy, the football mad town of Pittsburgh will be on Little Ben watch from some time in mid-October to early December. The Steelers bye week, for what it’s worth, is week 4 (September 30th), probably too early.

While we don’t know what Big Ben’s parenting style will be, my guess is that he is going to hold on to the baby for too long before passing it to his wife.
