PETA Protester Arrested in the Winner’s Circle at the Belmont Stakes During Trophy Presentation

Did you wonder why today’s Belmont Stakes trophy presentation seemed more chaotic than usual? Turns out a woman made her way to the winner’s circle after Union Rags won the third leg of the Triple Crown today. The woman, in a sensible track ensemble that included a giant floppy hat, held up a sign saying, “BAN HORSE DOPERS.” When Union Rags saw the sign, he simply put his head down and held one hoof in the air. Solidarity.
The protester caused some commotion in the winner’s circle as NBC was preparing to throw the action back to Bob Costas. The post-race interview and trophy presentation had to be moved and Costas was heard yelling, “Where’s my camera?” and referenced a “makeshift situation.”
