There is a ton of DOD creep getting pushed into Homeland Security, making true defense stpending harder to recognize. It’s frustrating the true budget is so masked.

Your assertion he wasn’t talented enough to win a US Open was false. In recent years, there have been a # of players ranked in the 100-200 range that have been on final day leaderboards at majors. Happens almost weekly on the pga tour.

Everybody wants to cut spending, smaller government, etc. – just as long as their services aren’t impacted. In my home state they were talking about closing down a fighter wing at the airport and everyone freaks out. This past week there was the CEO of a major defense contractor in the state – a real liberal commie if there ever was one – in the paper complaining about the damage defense spending cutbacks are doing to his company.

I turn 38 next week and anything I ever get from Social Security will be a bonus to me. I am planning for retirement as though there is no such thing as Social Security.

As would I, although it is worth pointing out that there are major defense budget cuts in that whole package that gets triggered if a new deal isn’t reached by New Year’s. And they’re fucking freaking out about it. They’ve gotten everything they want, every time they wanted it, and now they get what by their standards is a modest cut and it’s armageddon.

Seriously? I can’t imagine anybody 40 who expects to retire at 65 and receive FULL SS benefits.

Raise taxes and reduce deductions
Allow Social Security income cap to be unlimited, no more $104,500 cap
Raise SS retirement age progressively by 1 year starting with people born after 1950.
Reduce DoD budget by $150-$200 billion immediately

There are a lot of guys that have done all this….that are now selling insurance or giving lessons somewhere. Lot of guys are talented enough to make or get near the tour but very few are talented enough to maintain their level of play for 20+ years to remain on it. Not the Tiger Woods’ but guys like Billy Andrade, Jeff Sluman, etc.

yes, they did. i should have been more specific, though. they led to large scale mortgage backed CDOs, which are the most toxic and worst underwritted of all CDOs.

No one forced banks to knowingly bundle toxic mortgages together, fraudulently pass them off as stable, and sell them at tremendous profit knowing what would happen when it all collapsed.

Oh and Friedman, Laffer and trickle-down are the biggest economic fraudulant ideas besides Austrian economics of the past 100 years.

Here easy way to solve the issues:

Yeah, he’s only held the lead (briefly)at a US Open once, won a Nike Tour event, been on an NCAA Championship team, won college events, and earned his pro card on his own…. all why dealing with a leg defect that causes his leg to swell and shrink amongst other effects… all while suffering from limited practice time due to the aforementioned defect.
