November 3 is a Date to Circle on Your College Football Calendar: Alabama at LSU, Oregon at USC

Flip to November on the calendar and pencil it in right now – no plans for the night except to sit at home and watch college football.
7 pm: Defending champion Alabama, which will open the season in the Top 10, travels to Baton Rouge to play LSU in a rematch of January’s title game. The Tigers, who should open the season as the team to beat, likely will be undefeated at the time. The untested NFL prospect vs. the depleted defense. Can’t wait.
Also on November 3rd, though the time is TBA (10 pm start in the East seems reasonable): Oregon travels to LA to play USC, which should open the season as the No. 2 team in the country. Last year’s game was fantastic: USC 38, Oregon 35. Coachella-loving QB Matt Barkley will probably throw five TDs this time around.
Appetizers earlier in the day: TCU vs. West Virginia. Both figure to be Top 20 teams. Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State. Missouri vs. Florida in a game the media will eat up because many of them went to one of these journalism schools. And lastly, for the Big Ten – Nebraska vs. Michigan State.

I’m so ready for football to start.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:40 AM
Great slate of games that would be much more meaningful if there were only two playoff games that day.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:40 AM
Love USC laying the points here (prob -5 to -7 range). I see big season for Barkley mext year.
Has Les Miles changed his gameplan from the BCS title game match-up or is he still running option-left, option-right?? For LSU fan’s sake, I hope he did, but my gut says he’s a proud man and dammit, his way is right!
AJ McCarron gets more comfortable as the year moves along….Roll Tide.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:42 AM
i wasn’t planning on watching before, but after this? MUST SEE.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:42 AM
Can’t.Fucking.Wait
June 6th, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Weekend before the election. The more important game is the Redskins’ game against the Panthers that weekend.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Great catch. Cam vs. RGIII
June 6th, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Fuck those games. ND vs. Pitt baby!
June 6th, 2012 at 11:47 AM
Labor Day weekend is how far away? Three months from last weekend, yes?
June 6th, 2012 at 11:48 AM
We’re less than 90 days out I believe.

No Arkansas vs Tulsa? For shame.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:50 AM
September 1. Auburn vs. Clemson in the Georgia Dome. 6:00 CST. ESPN. Gonna be fun.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:51 AM
Should be a great game. That game paired with Bama-Mich (at the same fucking time god dammit!!) will be appointment viewing.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:51 AM
No Arkansas vs Tulsa? For shame.
Didn’t Tulsa lose their best players to graduation? I know they have a BCS transfer at QB, but I’d still expect them to take a step back this year.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:52 AM
UConn vs. USF!
June 6th, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Nice trolling
June 6th, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Ala.-LSU is the rivalry du jour in CFB. Baton Rouge is going to be a war zone on Nov 3.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:53 AM
I admit I’m more excited to gamble on football than to watch football as of today.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Yup. I’d like to end the hype on Clemson in Week 1. And maybe add some hype to Kiehl Frazier who I’m assuming will be our starting QB.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:53 AM
Spoiler: Bama 45 – Michigan 10
June 6th, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Yeah, Missouri’s a regular media darling. Also when Syracuse played Northwestern a few years ago the hype was endless.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:57 AM
i envy you…you obviously have stayed away from pat forde.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:58 AM
Looking for ACC game to throw in. … Hold on. … Still looking. … Crap, my conference sucks for football.
June 6th, 2012 at 11:59 AM
I like Clemson in that game, but it’ll be tight.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:00 PM
PSU battling Purdue for 3rd place in the Leaders division, can’t wait.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
PSU’s defense is legit.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:01 PM
I’ve a feeling you’re going to be in need of this
sooner rather than later.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:02 PM
The game is 8pm eastern.
It doesn’t seem reasonable at all. The game is a lock to be ABC’s prime-time game that nite, and, as such, figures to also be an 8pm start.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:03 PM
Won’t matter. Will spend the entire game on the field because MyGroin is starting at QB.
What a horrible football program.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:05 PM
Forde talks about Boise State way more than Mizzou.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:06 PM
To compete with Bama/LSU on CBS? Talk about regionalizing your #1 West Coast matchup of the season. Wouldnt it make more sense to do 3:30ET? Or does every top CFB matchup have to be in primetime now?
June 6th, 2012 at 12:11 PM
It’s not like I’m dropping hundreds of dollars on games. Allot myself money each year for gambling and when it’s gone, I’m done. Only ran out of an allotment once in six years.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:12 PM
I like Tha U to win it all this year
June 6th, 2012 at 12:15 PM
Why not put USC-Oregon as the Noon PT/3PM ET game and have it lead into Bama/LSU? ABC gets all the eyeballs for that game since USC is going to be one of those preseason favorites.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:15 PM
I like Tha U to win it all this year
all of what?
June 6th, 2012 at 12:24 PM
Bama’s last 4 years of scheduling a ranked opponent in the 1st 2 weeks of the season has been a little mixed. They did throttle Clemson in ’08 and then beat VaTech and PSU in consecutive years. I see Bama starting out slow in the opener against UMich. Like a win here, but maybe something like 28-17, maybe even less than a TD. Game’s in Dallas, correct?
June 6th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
all of that crystal, #6 is coming very soon
June 6th, 2012 at 12:25 PM
Should have led with the Missouri-Florida game
June 6th, 2012 at 12:28 PM
Doesn’t this site commonly blast the notion of a preseason poll? Then this post is all about the preseason rankings seemingly attaching meaning to them. I might have that wrong. Maybe I’m confusing Wilbon with this site. Wilbon, I know, hates the preseason polls.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:30 PM
Maybe I’m confusing Wilbon with this site.
Ouch.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:32 PM
Damn, all the Meth? That’s a lot of meth.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:33 PM
When it comes to college football, both are blowhards that add little of substance, so confusion is possible.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:36 PM
Spoiler: Bama 45 – Michigan 10
Doens’t matter. Michigan is better this year but will have a worse record.
/Michigan fans
June 6th, 2012 at 12:36 PM
we all hate preseason polls. might be the most common thing we commenters have. only thing we like is using them as fodder for argument
June 6th, 2012 at 12:37 PM
bama will score 45?
June 6th, 2012 at 12:38 PM
This is probably true.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:38 PM
lol jersey
June 6th, 2012 at 12:57 PM
It’s possible. But ABC WILL have an 8pm game that nite, so I’d be surprised if they didn’t put their best one on. I suppose Nebraska/Michigan State could be the primetime game, but I’m skeptical.
June 6th, 2012 at 12:59 PM
I believe it’s Big 10 policy to not have 7pm games in November
June 6th, 2012 at 1:01 PM
Such a cute little league.
June 6th, 2012 at 4:59 PM
I believe Alabama-LSU will be on CBS. They own the first tier rights to the SEC.
Also, What is the correlation between the Redskins game and the election two days later? Has a pattern developed over the years? Win=re-elect Loss=defeat? Anyone know.
June 6th, 2012 at 5:04 PM
It was announced today, chatterbox. Game is on CBS in primetime. They are allowed one doubleheader a year.
