not sure how that pitches per AB means anything. Cool stat. Not sure what I’m supposed to use it for.

The Yankees see the most pitches per plate appearance as a team. It just means they have a team full of guy who tend to work the count, thus getting to the opponent’s bullpen faster.

That, and the success rate of a player who gets into favorable counts is much higher than a guy behind in the count all the time. While it’s not foolproof, if you see more pitches in an at-bat/per plate appearance, chances are that you know the strikezone well and are ahead in the count more often.
