Shawn Payton, an overwrought Lions fan, pleaded guilty to a felony charge after twice threatening to blow up the Superdome during the second half of the Lions’ playoff loss to the Saints. Payton, who is looking at a potential five-year prison term and $250,000 fine,  promises to “never ever, ever, ever do anything like that again.”

Payton’s first called and said, “I will blow up your building.” On Payton’s second call he said, “Hi, I want you to relay a message to the sideline. If your stupid Southern team keeps winning, there will be reper…severe consequences. OK?”

The Lions fan was repentant.

“I don’t drink, and I don’t do drugs. From time to time, I do get frustrated and go off without meaning it, ” he said. “I let some words fly out of my mouth, and I sincerely apologize. I will never ever, ever, ever do anything like that again.”

He should not be confused with Sean Payton, the suspended coach of the New Orleans Saints.
