Johan Santana Threw The First No-Hitter in Mets History
The drought is over. After 50 years and 8,019 games, Johan Santana became the first New York Met to throw a no-hitter, in an 8-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The 136 pitches were the most he has thrown since missing the 2011 surgery. He did allow five Cardinals to reach base, so no pitching mechanics lessons from Kate Upton behind the rope.
If the season ended today, the Mets, 29-23, would be in the Wild Card playoff.
Note the fan getting drilled by security.

Other than Beltrans double, it was a nice no-hitter.

saw the replay. Santana’s gem is tainted somewhat. I’m standing by for the calls for more replay to aid umps.
