Fixed!
/narrative
Simmons called it…
It’s fixed regardless of who wins it. If Charlotte won it, it’s cause Stern is throwing Jordan a bone. If Cleveland won it, it’s to help them get over LeBron. If Sacramento won it, it’s to help keep them there.
I’m thrilled the Hornets won it. About time that franchise had some good luck.
May 30th, 2012 at 8:36 PM
I hope Anthony Davis has a concealed carry permit and has a kevlar vest he can wear down in NOLA.

THIS. But still…2 picks in the Top 10? If the Hornets can’t make the playoffs this year…

THIS. But still…2 picks in the Top 10? If the Hornets can’t make the playoffs this year…
The #10 pick came via the CP3 trade to the Clippers. And to be honest, it looked certain to not be a lotto pick until Rubio hurt himself.
And given Dell Demps and Monty Williams, I think I can say the Hornets will make the playoffs next season.
May 30th, 2012 at 8:40 PM
The Blazers trade 6, 11 to get #1 pick. Anthony Davis proceeds to blow out his knee by September.
May 30th, 2012 at 8:41 PM
Cavs won it last year.
How does Sacramento winning it have any bearing on them staying there?

My point was that the conspiracy theorists could spin the winner of the #1 pick any way they want to make it fit a “Stern is fixing this!” story.
May 30th, 2012 at 8:43 PM
Odds MJ drafts a Duke standout at #2?
May 30th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Celtics have a lead for the first time!
/drinks
May 30th, 2012 at 8:44 PM
Well the NBA is a joke of a league.
May 30th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
Which duke standout? No duke player is worth top 10, no matter how much TBL slobbers over the overrated Austin Rivers.
May 30th, 2012 at 8:46 PM
Hahahaha LeBron
May 30th, 2012 at 8:47 PM
Jimmer all rookie team!!!
May 30th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
Of course that layup would rim out….
May 30th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
Is the NBA using double rims now? How did Rondo’s layup not go in?
May 30th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
A boston dunk!
/standing ovation
May 30th, 2012 at 8:50 PM
The fuck? He obviously is going to draft Barnes.
May 30th, 2012 at 8:52 PM
Barnes is gonna get destroyed in the NBA unless he grows a pair
May 30th, 2012 at 8:54 PM
Nice to see miami not be as accurate so far tonight
May 30th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
anthony davis does not move the needle. nor does he shave his eyebrows
but seriously, he doesn;t strike me as a game-canging player, only the best in a weak class. he’ll be solid but not a star
May 30th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
under 179 and heat m7.5
May 30th, 2012 at 8:58 PM
0 fouls called on the heat so far…hilarious
May 30th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
hilarious
you’re being ironic huh?
May 30th, 2012 at 9:00 PM
He’s definitely got a very good chance to be a star, from what I’ve seen.
Rondo is having a Rondo-type game so far. He looks fiery tonight. Then you have Stiemsma picking up 4 fouls in about 5 minutes.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:01 PM
he’ll be solid but not a star
He’s definitely got a very good chance to be a star, from what I’ve seen.
here we g again….what’s a star?
/gotta put bonzos to bed will check back in 30
May 30th, 2012 at 9:02 PM
Also, the NBA lottery is not rigged, despite what Bill Simmons wants us to believe. I can’t tell if he’s just trolling about it all the time or if he’s for real. It’s all just confirmation bias; BFFredo touched on it a little in an earlier comment.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:03 PM
CHALK UP ANOTHER SAVE FOR THE ECK
May 30th, 2012 at 9:03 PM
Well vez, i saw two obvious pushes by Anthony that werent called. 2 of the steamer’s 4 fouls were crap but that last one was legit. It just makes you shake your head when there is a big discrepancy in the first quarter…yet Boston leads and is beng very efficient. Miami looks sluggish on defense
May 30th, 2012 at 9:04 PM
In other news, boston teeing off on detroit pitching this week. Big papi is murdering the ball.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:05 PM
Fuck if I know, dude. An all-star I guess. He could probably be a #1 on a shitty team someday and a #2 on a good team. He could certainly anchor the D and be the 2nd or 3rd scoring option on a champion- I could be wrong though, he may be even better one day.

May 30th, 2012 at 9:12 PM
I completely agree.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:13 PM
played one year in college, definitely no chance he can get better
May 30th, 2012 at 9:18 PM
In a couple years, Davis will be Joakim Noah with an offensive skillset
May 30th, 2012 at 9:21 PM
Since Brooklyn is fucked, put Deron on NOLA, then you got a Gordon-Deron-Monobrow w/ Okafor, Ariza in your starting 5. You have the #11 and maybe 2 serviceable players on that roster.
/7 ships
May 30th, 2012 at 9:23 PM
Rondo is on FIYAAAAA!
/Chalmers, you’re stupid.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:24 PM

May 30th, 2012 at 9:25 PM
Heat: 28 points
LeBron has 6, wade has 0. Miami only within 11 due to big threes by James jones and Douchebag mario

Mario Chalmers hits the same bullshit shots that I hit at the gym and piss people off with. He does it enough that it’s probably not too much bullshit.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:27 PM
Vince McMahon took quite awhile to tell us wrestling isnt real either. Now its sports entertainment.
Someday the truth on the NBA lottery will come out.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:27 PM
I know, rondo. He actually lost 25 pounds, lowered his cholesterol and blood pressure, and is in better shape. When he played first base against the Phillies two weekends ago, i was amazed at some plays he made. He wouldnt have done that even last year.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:28 PM
A technical foul for taunting in a professional sport has to be the stupidest sports rule out there. The NBA is the only League where they call that shit in the world.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:28 PM
Put that Hornets lineup together…and then Eric Gordon will get hurt within the first month….
/inevitable

May 30th, 2012 at 9:33 PM
Derek Holland gave up 8 runs in one inning tonight. That was brutal
May 30th, 2012 at 9:33 PM
This is a big 4 minute stretch for the Celtics here.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:36 PM
One of my idiot friends doesnt understand baseball, and how even good teams regularly lose to bad teams.
He would see that score and say how horrible the Rangers are. He looks at it like football. Any team can be off now and then in a 162 game seasson.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
The fact that the call on the floor is a clear path foul pretty much says everything you need to know about NBA officiating. What the fuck are the thinking?
May 30th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
Well the Celtics are gonna shoot 63% for the game thats for sure.
I still see the Heat winning this game, unfortunately.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
*arent
May 30th, 2012 at 9:39 PM
The Celtics are a completely different team with Rondo playing like this. Unfortunately, he probably has to play like this every game for them to have a chance to even push the series to 6 games.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:41 PM
yeah, you’re right. The NBA is the worst.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:42 PM
Yes, much worse than throwing a football in the air and getting a TD called back or a penalty.
Much worse.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:44 PM
Swallow the whistle there, refs. Stop pussying up this league
May 30th, 2012 at 9:45 PM
Damn damn damn
May 30th, 2012 at 9:46 PM
This could be tied by halftime.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:47 PM
I wish TBL had an archive of all my comments in history on this site. Not a public one, but one that I could go through in my profile or something.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:47 PM
Im very excited about this draft. Well, the top 15 picks anyways. Some good players, and the chance that either we see a good trade or some team makes a terrible gaffe. I’m really banking on the Bobcats to screw this up.
I was suprised to see how much cap space the Trailblazers cleared out. The disparity of cap space can shape things as well.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
Rondo is at 22/7/4 at the half so far. Are we looking at an eventual 30 pt. triple double for the game?
May 30th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
yeah, because for that they give you a penalty on the extra point, while the NBA gives the other team the possibility of gaining a point plus possession for more, just for talking trash.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
Tackle Lebron, idiots!
May 30th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
Yes….
And…phew…
May 30th, 2012 at 9:50 PM
You could probably say this about 20 times a game, every game.
/is there anything more annoying that when the camera guy doesn’t follow a long range shot at the buzzer? I WANT TO SEE IF THAT SHIT GOES IN.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
Also, on last night’s theme, if one eats meat, then are they not a vegetarian?
May 30th, 2012 at 9:51 PM
Darrell,
In college football they’ll negate a TD for a celebration. The LSU punter had a fake where he ran for a TD. At the 5 yard line, he put his arms out in celebration while he crossed the goal line. He got flagged for taunting even though no defender was anywhere near him. TD taken off the board.
NCAA is the worst
May 30th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
Heel, i dont get your question
May 30th, 2012 at 9:53 PM
Obviously you dont even know the rules.
Nuff said.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:53 PM
seattle won me some nic coing last night when i took them as plus 170 or so to beat texas. never figured they’d do it twice in a row. they are up 17-0 in the fourth inning with back to back 8-run frames
/sports lingo
May 30th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
Rondo’s 22/7/4 is impressive, but Chalmers’ 14/4 is going to wind up placing the Heat in a position to take this game in the second half.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
That pisses me off to no end!!! Glad Im not the only one.
May 30th, 2012 at 9:59 PM
definitely no chance he can get better
said your mama, because no one else did
in other news lefty casey crosby was called up to pitch for detroit against nyy. went to my alma mater. his older brother kelly was a stud two-star athlete in hs, drafted by dodgers, had knee problems. he and don beebe are now the only two former kaneland knights to make their sports’ top leagues
/i can’t hear you
May 30th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
I did say professional sports in my first post. I give the NCAA a pass because they are theoretically supposed to be amateur, and the connection between academic institutions and athletics is supposed to demand a certain level of sportsmanship (gag). There shouldn’t be any penalties for celebrations or trash talk.
May 30th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
The NBA is the only League where they call that shit in the world.
doesn;t nfl?
May 30th, 2012 at 10:04 PM
Love the backtacking Darrell, after the fact was shown you didnt know the rule.
May 30th, 2012 at 10:05 PM
AP, just realized that i was asking an almost obvious question… Seems very likely that Rondo will hit 30 and a triple double is definitely in play at this point barring a defensive strategy change by MIA.
Looking forward to the next half.
May 30th, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Well LBJ on Rondo now, so it should be interesting.
May 30th, 2012 at 10:09 PM
Well LBJ on Rondo now, so it should be interesting.
now we can finally find out if rondo is better than rose!
May 30th, 2012 at 10:10 PM
you didn’t articulate it well. I figured it out once AP brought up the LSU Punter.
May 30th, 2012 at 10:12 PM
Sorry.
Can we still be friends?
May 30th, 2012 at 10:13 PM
Bosh must love not having the normal pre-game nausea for this series…
May 30th, 2012 at 10:16 PM
I LOLed. Nice work, vez.
This is a fun game so far. If the refs called a couple less touch fouls on both teams I would really be having a great time.
May 30th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
I’m convinced Paul Pierce’s facial hair has some sort of significance towards the well being of the universe. There’s no other explanation for it.

May 30th, 2012 at 10:20 PM
Personally not a fan, but Chalmers is having a good season for $4 mil a year.
Season: 9.8/3.5/2.7 (P/A/R)
Playoffs: 11.5/3.5/4.5
Tonight so far: 14/4/1

i need the scoring to slow a bit. i put more on the udner than i did the heat covering

May 30th, 2012 at 10:24 PM
Oh now wade decides to play….fantastic…just great

To me Paul Pierce has always looked like he smells like piss.
HA!
May 30th, 2012 at 10:36 PM
If youre serious, its the dumbest thing youve ever said. Miami would be lucky to win 2 games against the Spurs.
Spurs are better than last year’s mavericks team that beat the Heat. Heat aren’t much better than last year. Heat could win if Bosh comes back but it would be a 7 game series. You really havent watched the Spurs play if you think theyd get swept. Miami would be the underdog.
This game is over
May 30th, 2012 at 10:38 PM
Miami has the best two players but the Spurs TEAM is better and more consistent than Miami. Miami won’t be able to get in the fast break as much as they do against the east teams.
May 30th, 2012 at 10:38 PM
Again, i hope youre joking and mocking YYSA for what he said earlier today
May 30th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
James jones is a one trick pony piece of shit who cant play defense to save his life.

May 30th, 2012 at 11:24 PM
Waitaminnit…James matched on Rondo at the end, and that is the best shot he could get while iso’d?
I disagree with JVG. I think James coulda/maybe shoulda gotten closer to the basket.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:25 PM
If he hits some shots earlier on this game isn’t going to OT.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:25 PM
As a basketball fan, I’m incredibly pumped that LeBron just called for the ball and took the shot there. Major step in the right direction for what I would love to consistently see from him.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:26 PM
Wade bricking FTs under a minute costs Lebron again. Fuck that herpes having cunt.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:26 PM
Lebron missed both FTs on the clear path foul by Pietrus. Wah wahhhhh
May 30th, 2012 at 11:27 PM
Major step in the right direction for what I would love to consistently see from him.
baby steps. if he hits it they win, if he doesn;t OT is a parachute. take the shot when you’re losing or gtfo

Touch LeBron slightly, foul. LeBron grabs and manhandles player, no foul.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:30 PM
What a stupid STUPID foul.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:32 PM
Simmons made a good point: pierce had 6 fouls while lebron/wade had 2 combined…. Lebron and wade get away with a lot of ahit.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:33 PM
Rondo has been amazing..has played the entire game and theyve needed it

May 30th, 2012 at 11:36 PM
How the fuck do they not make the foul call on the Heat? What a fucking bullshit no call. So obvious too. Hit right in the face by guess who? Wade.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:36 PM
Fuck the refs. FUck d wade. Thats bullshit

May 30th, 2012 at 11:40 PM
Thats where paul pierce was needed so bass would be on the bench
May 30th, 2012 at 11:40 PM
It’s hard not to harp on the refs when they’ve had such a major effect on the game down the stretch. Specifically in favor of one team, too.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:40 PM
That’s a clear offensive foul.
/not a dunk
May 30th, 2012 at 11:43 PM
Simmons is pissed, so I’m happy.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:44 PM
I hope so bad that Wade misses these.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:44 PM
Boy, Rondo just won’t quit. What a valiant effort.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:44 PM
I dont think games are fixed..i just think the refs are terrible and david stern doesnt care
May 30th, 2012 at 11:45 PM
Damn, what a game. That was the Celtics best shot, they played as well as they’re capable of. JVG just called it, Celtics used a lot of energy tonight, might not have much left.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:45 PM
Holy fuck Rondo. Wade lucky to hit that FT.
/Wade did not touch Rondo on the non call dick skins
May 30th, 2012 at 11:45 PM
Now i just fear that boston will revert back to an 85 point game on friday…
Oh well
May 30th, 2012 at 11:46 PM
Soused, wade hit rondo in the face. Go drink and play in traffic
May 30th, 2012 at 11:47 PM
Celtics shouldnt have let the heat score 35 in that third quarter..holding them to even 25 and celtics win. Oh well. Great game, still shitty officiating. Rondo was brilliant.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:48 PM
It’s games like that that make me love and hate the NBA so much. That was a Celtics victory and a great tied series. They deserved it and so did NBA fans.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:49 PM
so, about that under….
May 30th, 2012 at 11:50 PM
Well now soused, it’s very clear you don’t watch the games at all. Even Coop would own up to that one.
/big win, coop. drink a beer or two.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:50 PM
That does sound alluring. Second angle showed the hand missed. If there was contact it was minimal. We’ll see on youtube in slow motion tomorrow no sense it arguing about it whilst there’s traffic outside calling my name.
Great game but wanted the win for Rondo.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:51 PM
On the bright side, its great to get Heat fans hopes up only to see them freak the hell out once the Spurs come knocking.
May 30th, 2012 at 11:54 PM
soused that was the first hand, not sure who it was, the second one was Wade I thought.
Though I sure as shit missed it at full speed. But refs don’t make mistakes, it’s fixed, and they caused the Celtics to give up 35 points in one quarter.
/Simmons
May 30th, 2012 at 11:56 PM
Actually, simmons was critical of celtics in that 3rd quarter but he still is correct on the refs clearly not calling obvious fouls on Wade and LeBron
