Brian Banks Has a Workout Scheduled With the Seattle Seahawks
Brian Banks, the former USC recruit who was recently exonerated after serving five years of a rape conviction, has a workout scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks, and has been contacted by at least three other different NFL teams, according to ESPN.
The workout with Seattle is scheduled for June 7th. It makes some sense that Pete Carroll’s team would get in on giving Banks an opportunity, since Banks was committed to USC back in 2001. Kansas City, Washington, and Miami (recently announced as the Hard Knocks subject) have also expressed interest. Banks, a former top linebacking recruit, is now 26. He could also pursue a football scholarship to play in college, though he would likely prefer to get an opportunity in the NFL directly. We’ll be rooting for him to get his opportunity. At a position like linebacker, if he has the skill and athleticism still and can work to make up the training gap, he can still succeed, and has saved some hits on his body.

When the chick who lied gets convicted of perjury, falsifying a police report, etc., she will almost certainly end up doing less time than this guy did. JUSTICE!
May 30th, 2012 at 2:00 PM
We’ll be rooting for him
He didn’t kill anybody. He was merely falsely accused of rape and went to federal pound you in the ass prison for five years.

Good for him.

As much as I fantasized as a kid about being a professional athlete, the thought of being washed up by your early 30s is bizarre to me. I’ll be 29 in a few weeks and I feel like I’m just getting started in a lot of ways.

Nice story, but I’d be shocked if someone who hasn’t played organized football for maybe 8 years can make an NFL roster.

Not so much with me. I had a sharp decline in my late 20s, and now that 31 is staring me in the face tomorrow, I can’t imagine the amount painkillers it would take to get me to compete.

Another OT: White Sox pitcher (Quintana) just got thrown out of a game for throwing behind a batter. Harrelson is going ballistic. Tom Paciorek (he’s back!) is the voice of reason, but Hawk says the ump ought to be suspended or sent back to the minors “to learn the game of baseball”.
Pierzynski got HBP earlier, so his starter tried to even things up. Didn’t actually hit a Rays’ batter, but got tossed anyway.

It’s been hanging around, but it doesn’t lend itself to use as easily as some others do. You have to wait for someone to make a completely neutral comment or ask a direct question in order to use it.

We need a long time poster to run thelist of the all time best TBL memes, to help some of us who missed a few of them. I know what /coop’d and /duckworth’d means.
Is this a list of memes? If so, can someone elaborate?

Ask away. I know the origination and/or when they took off. Sometimes, the best memes are the ones that come to a slow boil.
Who hasn’t tea-bagged a friend/nemesis?

This is mainly TBL quasi-memes. Half of them are just stupid things TBL has said that get got shit for.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:33 PM
There’s two categories of memes. There are some TBL-induced memes and some commenter meme’s. The list above is TBL isms.

Yup Jezebel is the only media entity that is more separated from reality than fox news.
Typical post goes like this “Ladies another biased Bro-man study claims that the Weeemenz cannot grow lip hair as easily as menz” and comments will be a variety of “Yeah but did they control for the fact that women were socialized not to grow lip hair” or “Right because society shames women into not growing a ‘stache” or “Bullshit! my gf’s co-worker’s sister inlaw looks like Geraldo Rivera so put that in your pipe and smoke it.”
May 30th, 2012 at 2:35 PM
Some older ones (which looking back are really stupid) are Costco, Sunkist, and of course smedium Jets shirt that shows off his guns.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:35 PM
This is mainly TBL quasi-memes. Half of them are just stupid things TBL has said that get got shit for.

Dickface started gaining some traction. I think it was initially guided towards Lisk, or maybe it was MS.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:40 PM
Bill Wagner was the nickname for TBL’s old server. Which was about as reliable as former Mets’ closer Billy Wagner.
Paolo had to be seen to be believed. Seriously, I don’t have the words to describe that bojack ninny.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:40 PM
Paolo’d
Paolo was a legendary commenter several years ago who would go on long rants and would award internet points in odd amounts like 3.37 and things like that. He was also vaguely racist and misogynist and liked calling people “bojack ninnies” and delivering “high hard ones”.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:41 PM
Paolo – Fanatical lunatic that actually pissed off commenters. May be the only commenter banned at the request of commenters. I thought he was hilarious.
Billy Wagner – TBL’s server used to be in Romania and the site would always crash. Some baseball person will have to tell you how Billy Wagner became a meme, but it was due to site crashes.
Todd Charske – Hell, that was recent. I’ll go look up the thread for that one.

The guy who was pretending to be Todd Charske showed up again in the last comment. It’s priceless. The notion that we are losers and not he, a guy who has devoted God knows how many hours to plastering a fake persona based on an actual person all over the internet, is too funny for words.

The Steve Phillips post is the best thing on TBL ever. Easily.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:49 PM
Cold Call Mondays — When TBL cold called Bob Knight it was a monday morning and a joke was made that TBL should cold call someone every monday AM
Kung-Fu Grip — TBL made a joke about Jeremy Lin having a “Kung-Fu Grip” on the NBA during the height of Linsanity
Hakeem Nicks — Hakeem Nicks was picked atleast twice in a TBL 1st round mock draft. It could have been more.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:49 PM
Damn it. I should have known that. Sure glad I didn’t get a call from the IT Department for 4 girls fingerpainting or whatever the hell that was.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
I’m not sure if it’s a ‘meme’ or a ‘theme’ but the whole TBL twittering some random trade suggestion then writing a post about it or refuting it, so he can refer to it as “some people or some media saying…” is pretty annoying.
Eg: During game 1 – “I could see the Spurs getting swept by the Thunder”
The next day – “Despite people in the media thinking the Spurs would sweep the Thunder, they came back from a big deficit to win…”
May 30th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
Vader fist pump!
May 30th, 2012 at 2:50 PM
Hakeem Nicks — Hakeem Nicks was picked atleast twice in a TBL 1st round mock draft. It could have been more.
What was great about that was that every football post for the next week had at least 15 comments that read only “Hakeem Nicks”. It annoyed Jason so much that he threatened to ban people if we kept it up.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:51 PM
Sparty got the ax for that one….or as a result of that thread, right?
May 30th, 2012 at 2:52 PM

May 30th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Reread the Charske thing. Classic Dirt right here…
Todd Charske showed up late last week and dropped in a comment with two misspellings caused by his thumbs, one more just blatant misspelling, and a logic problem in a comment that was just dumb in the first place. but to his credit, the motherfucker OWNED that comment. He proudly threw his Todd Charske up there, and he was off to the races.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Oh, and Detective J-Mac is a meme that really needs dusted off more often.
The Steve McNair post, the Ole Miss/KKK post, and the Bernard Berrian post are all high (low?) points of this site.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:54 PM
Not really a meme, but I liked when TBL called Erik Ainge a drug addict on twitter.
May 30th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
What about JMorris?
May 30th, 2012 at 2:55 PM
TBL also dismissed Nicks as a mediocre WR, if I remember correctly.
Yes, yes he did. Then when people pointed out how ridiculous he was being he sarcastically responded with “Giants fans are funny”.

May 30th, 2012 at 2:58 PM
What about JMorris?
Jmorris is a commenter that always seemed cool, but got offended when he became a meme. His thing was writing really long posts overexplaining something. For example, if someone asked who plays 1st for the Bluejays, he’d write a wikipedia entry about the history of 1st base for the Bluejays.
Good guy. Not sure why he got offended by the meme.

Hmm I guessed I missed that. I seem to recall him coming around and saying that he didn’t have the time to comment much but lurked often and didn’t see how he had become a meme.
Another classic meme that has unfortunately lost a LOT of steam is ‘/yelnik’.

Tar Baby was fantastically terrible. There was another guy too who was sort of like Tar Baby but he wasn’t as racist and he was apparently a gambling addict who was also a stock broker or trader. He talked about getting a second mortgage and putting it all on one team or another. I think his name was “Flyer555″ or something like that. If Dirt was here, he’d know what I was talking about.
Another great meme was 3rdMan and his distaste for the appearance of vaginas, and Ron_Artest_3Money who was convinced that the Mavericks played the worst most boring type of basketball.

there should be a new meme for being captain obvious…last night during the Spurs game, some commenter named Sportmentary said “Unless they blow this 16 point lead, they’ll be up 2-0″……
