The Miami Dolphins Will Be Featured On Hard Knocks
Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post is reporting that Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin confirmed that the team will be participating in this year’s HBO Hard Knocks series. According to Philbin, the show is “a chance for us to show a new identity.”
Numerous teams have turned down the program this offseason, or at least floated rumors they were not interested. Ultimately, though, Hard Knocks got a situation that will be sure to bring eyeballs. For one, the Ryan Tannehill storyline will bring in viewers. You can bet, based on the NFL.com running a piece on his wife, and talking about how it was the most popular piece on the site during draft week, that Lauren Tannehill will be featured in some episodes. Then you have the new coaching staff, and the quarterback competition between the rookie and incumbent Matt Moore. I’m a bit surprised that Joe Philbin agreed to do this in year one, but I’m sure that owner Stephen Ross is thrilled that his high profile draft pick is paying dividends in terms of attention to the franchise.

I will enjoy laughing heartily as Matt Moore outperforms Ryan Tannehill.

I am just glad a team agreed to it…I was getting nervous. I don’t care what team does it…I love me some Hard Knocks.
May 29th, 2012 at 1:17 PM
ross only agreed because he thought it was “hard kocks.”

If the T-Pain version of their fight song isn’t the soundtrack to this show why even bother doing it

i know he’s king shit at michigan and is an insanely successful businessman, but whenever he talks about football, he comes across as a cocksucker supreme.

His years in Green Bay lead me to believe this is something he’s going along with and not fully invested in. Never once sought the spotlight for his work with Rodgers and the offense.

Nothing there I can disagree with.
Oh to have a major university name their entire business program after you….
May 29th, 2012 at 1:33 PM
meh. although, Dolphins on hard knocks is better than watching the Dolphins actually play football.
May 29th, 2012 at 1:34 PM
well, lets be fair here…that naming also came with a sizeable donation, im sure.
May 29th, 2012 at 1:38 PM
Matt Moore while not a world beater certainly isn’t the worst QB in the league and Ryan Tannehill has always been thought to be a project QB. Not one you want to rush into the starting gig. I guess I just don’t get your sense of humor.

No shit. Ross has a big fucking pie and 100,000,000 million of it was the ‘donate to charity’ slice.
May 29th, 2012 at 1:44 PM
isn’t Ross worth like $3 billion?

Eh…should have named an arena after him loaded with tens of thousands of logos the NCAA will no longer recognize. I’m talking to you North Dakota and Ralph Engelstad Arena, better known as The Ralph.

Horatio, looks like the cannibal was doing bath salts here in Miami. What do you have to say?

Not that it diminishes in any way the fact that $100M is a fuckload of money, but most large donations are made in installments over time, with a bulk of it coming after the grantor dies. It’s not like he wrote out a cashiers check for the amount.

it’d have been great if ross made that $100mm donation with rolls of pennies.

At least I have something to look forward to regarding the Dolphins 2012 season.

It would be a very unwise investment and tax decision. You spread that deduction out.

Let’s assume for a moment that I know nothing about accounting practices or tax decisions regarding large amounts of money. Why would it be a poor tax decision? Can’t charitable contributions be written off?
May 29th, 2012 at 2:19 PM
There are annual limits (so you can’t wipe away a full tax bill through charitable donations) the calculation of which is something I knew at one time but not currently

Jesus. Mine have never cost more than $50.
Though I’ll filing jointly next year for the first time, so I imagine that cost will go up.

100,000,000 million
Holy shit. That’s a big number. 100,000,000,000,000 dollars. $100 quadrillion. Michigan has $100 quadrillion for their business school while the poor football players are subsisting on a diet of field turf and scraps of shoe leather
