Serena Williams Just Lost at the French Open to Someone Named Virginie Razzano
Serena Williams just got blitzed in the French Open by the 93rd 111th ranked woman in the world, Virginie Razzano, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. Razzano’s never gotten past the 3rd round at any major, and her deepest penetration at the French Open was the 4th round in 2009. Serena Williams, the 5th seed, hasn’t won a Major since Wimbledon in 2010, and hasn’t won the French Open since 2002. It is the first time in her career she lost in the first round of a major (previously 46-0).

Well, I’ll be. Someone in the last post was looking for lesbians that look like Wayne Gretzky.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.

venus is where it’s at anyway

Andy Roddick also lost in the first round. That’s becoming as much a part of the landscape smelly foreigners waiting in line at the Musee D’Orsay.
/will be one of those smelly foreigners in exactly 24 days.

ms…I will be there too. Look for a gimp in a knee brace carrying around a cane to get to the front of the line (June 15th to 24th).
I am taking the previously-derided baby moon with the wife.

I’ll look out for you. Will be there on the 21st. Taking the day train over from London.

Venus gone is the good news.
The better news is that Maria Sharapova won in straight sets.

is there a sport where athletes decend faster than in tennis?
May 29th, 2012 at 3:18 PM
I never would have pegged Serena as an early exit candidate
May 29th, 2012 at 3:18 PM
Correction … Serena gone … got my big moons mixed up.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:19 PM
her and the rest of the overexuberant grunters should be banished
May 29th, 2012 at 3:20 PM
JMac, now this IS the proper place for the “Someone named” line. Good job
May 29th, 2012 at 3:23 PM
What, you didn’t use the picture of her and Craig James?
May 29th, 2012 at 3:28 PM
Have you guys been before?
May 29th, 2012 at 3:29 PM
Yes. My wife has not been though…so I will just be pretending like I know what I am talking about.

d’Ordsey is my favorite museum in Paris. It’s gorgeous. I would also recommend Sacré-Cœur, it’s in the Montemarte district. It’s the highest point in Paris. It’s so badass. Also, the bar scene around the Notre Dame is awesome. Lots of little pubs and such in the back streets.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:34 PM
A great start
May 29th, 2012 at 3:35 PM
I just emailed this to myself for future use. Thank you.
…and agreed on the d’Orsey.

Baseball and golf.

It’s my favorite spot in the city. The building itself is cool, but the views you get from it put it over the edge.

This seems inaccurate.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:41 PM
I laughed.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:41 PM
Awesome.
Any food/restaurant recommendations?
May 29th, 2012 at 3:41 PM

Nope, never been.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:43 PM
Waiting for the excuse. Racist French, Lesbians, yada, yada. Going back to read Pat Jordan.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:43 PM
3rd is better than 4th, homie.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:45 PM
France is basically one big museum. Other than maintaining art, those lazy tards are worthless.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:46 PM
3rd is better than 4th, homie.
So if you lose in the first round you win? Then Roddick has won a grand slam or two.

We are taking a day trip to Normandy…it’s supposed to be awesome, and probably right up your alley.

Bercy is a cool area of Paris with some nice places to eat. Be prepared to spend cash as Paris is pricey as fuck. Find a good bakery and get some real croissants. You can find them anywhere, but everyone has their favorites. There is one in the Bercy district that I love, but I couldn’t tell you how to get there without showing you. One of my little traditions when I go is to get a classic parisien sandwich (french bread, butter, ham and ementhal (swiss) cheese) and go to the Eiffel Tower park and eat it on the grounds. I love their street food. They have a lot of kabop venders around the monuments that are great for post drinking eats. If memory serves me, take the 14 train to the final exit (Coeur St-Emilion) and when you get off you’ll be in this cool little shopping/eating district). Montemarte also has some great places.
Man…have fun. If you need any recommendations let me know. Paris is my jammy. I love that place.

Much appreciated Husker.

Normandy is breathtaking. Like…goosebumps-all-day amazing. The cemetery at Normandy is a place every American should see if they can. It will literally change how you look at soldiers. Also, the Normands are just about the coolest people in the world. So friendly.

My brothers grandfather-in-law was in the Canadian army and jumped in to Normandy or wherever the canucks went. I delivered newspapers to the man as a kid but could not look him in the eye at my brothers wedding without getting overwhelmed.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
i couldve sworn you hated the military.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:54 PM
No worries. I just checked and the 14 train South is the right one. Get off on the St.-Emilion stop (2nd to last one) and you’ll be right there in the cool area. Here’s a metro map to use as a guide. The 12 or 4 train will get you to Montmarte. The top of the 13 train is cool because it’s where one of the main colleges is located, and you can always get good, cheaper food around colleges.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:55 PM
Not at all. I hate those who use them to do their bidding and then act like tough guys.
/read: the entire G.W. Bush administration.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:56 PM
My great-grandfather was captured by the Germans and tortured in World War 1. He had every single tooth ripped out of his mouth.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:57 PM
i also read that as “obama administration” in hushed tones that right after denied any involvement.
May 29th, 2012 at 3:58 PM
They don’t glorify it nearly as much save for killing Osama (which is something that any politician would glorify).
May 29th, 2012 at 4:00 PM
Babar/MS: The Invalides is where Napoleon is buried, but to be honest, I was a bit bored when I went there. The tomb is huge (which is of course hilarious) and you can’t see all that much. Pretty boring if you ask me.
May 29th, 2012 at 4:01 PM
they don’t glorify it because it’s an act of war they’re committing.
May 29th, 2012 at 4:03 PM
Fuck that. I’m all for black ops shit like that. I wanted Bush to do that more instead of full-on land wars. I have no problem with gov’t assassination. I really don’y. I know that goes against my liberal beliefs in other areas, but I think self preservation wins out in that regard. Obviously the slippery slope argument is tough to combat, but that’s just how it is. I also have no problem not knowing the shady shit our gov’t does. Ignorance is bliss as long as it doesn’t affect me.
May 29th, 2012 at 4:08 PM
it’s cool as long as they don’t kill civilians.
it’s cool if they get civilians (since they were prolly guilty) as long as they get the bad guy.
it’s cool as long as it’s not american citizens.
it’s cool as long as the american citizens don’t live here.
slippery slope indeed.
next iterations are scary tho.
May 29th, 2012 at 4:11 PM
Exactly. That’s why we need sane, rational people in charge. Romney, while bland as bread, is at least that. The other fools who ran this year are a different story, though.
May 29th, 2012 at 4:12 PM
i was rooting for santorum to win…ive always wanted to know what it’s like to participate in a coup.
May 29th, 2012 at 4:15 PM
I laughed. Though if you really wanted to see a coup, Ron Paul needed to win the presidency. People like him because he’s honest and he had no chance at winning anything. Take away the last part and the panic would be glorious.
May 29th, 2012 at 4:47 PM
Sorry I missed all of this discussion. Yes I know about Les Invalides. The 21st is my birthday and I fully intend to spend part of it staring down on Napoleon’s sarcophagus. I also intend to pay respects at the tomb of Ferdinand Foch and at the memorial to Marshal Comte de Turenne.
