never understood this look…the yankees uniforms are as classy as a brooks brothers suit. it symbolizes championships and a tradition of excellence and you wear it like you’re trying to avoid spilling hypnotiq while some chick grinds your junk in a club. shameful.

Blame Jay-Z.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Wiggers.
I can’t speak for NYC, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a white guy with a baseball hat in Upstate NY that isn’t crooked with the flat brim.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:41 AM
Yankees hat, that is.

Spencer, et al…went to Colonial on Saturday. Watched Daly & Sergio (interesting pairing), Dufner and Johnson, then played the caddy game on #13 for a couple hours. I think PGA events are the most underrated to attend, even for non-golf fans.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
I blame Turtle.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:46 AM
Outside of maybe some douche in nothing but UFC wear that couldn’t make my grandma tap out, nothing screams turd bigger than this look. Just awful.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
im jealous…love colonial. love how intimate the place is…tee’s right next to greens. the shot values. awesome course.
and there’s so much going on at PGA events it’s hard to get bored. no TV timeouts, no halftime…it’s fucking great.
i wish you could’ve played this course i played sunday. you’d be hard pressed to find a better course for that price in the country (they advertise themselves as #19 public course in the country).

that old crusty angels fan looks like he wants to beat those assholes for looking like idiots.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Nice. What’d you throw at it?
May 29th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
I see Turtle from entourage moved out of the hills and got a neck tat.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
87 with 37 putts and took 3 shots to get out of a bunker…struck the ball beautifully (been playing the same ball the past 52 holes…bridgestone b330s – just wanna see how long i can make it last, thing’s getting haggard), but the greens mustve been rolling faster than 12.
if you left yourself above the hole, you were dead. and im still struggling with my distances and was hitting it past all day. probably should’ve used a club less on each approach.
it was one of the best tests of golf i can remember. every shot, from drives to 3-footers was tested. had a blast, but my bastard of an uncle i was outdriving by 50-70 yards nipped me by two.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Damnit, somebody already made the turtle joke.
May 29th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
are we absolutely sure that’s not David Wells and Jorge Posada?

Old man golf wins 90% of the time.
I got back in town and played yesterday. Started wearing prescription sunglasses on the course. The clarity has thrown my putting perception off. Nothing worse than hitting solid number of FIR and GIR and putting miserably to ruin a round.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
clarity thrown off in a good way tho? like once you adjust you’ll be putting better?
only reason i ask is ive been considering buying a better pair of sunglasses for the course. i don’t wear em now, but sometimes get a lil wonky from the sun.

Is Chris Sale getting his own Yardwork?
May 29th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
yep. hit 12 fairways and 10 greens…ah well. is it really a GIR if you have a 40 foot downhill black-diamond-slope putt? gimme an uphill chip plz.
tho i can deal with a high score because of a difficult course.
on unrelated notes…fixed my wedge game. really hitting em well. and the new driver is fucking incredible…the whiteboard made the difference. absolutely killing the big stick lately. had seven drives over 300 the past two rounds and haven’t lost a ball off it yet.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
This. I was happy to beat my dad by 5 yesterday.
After I lost by 1 on the first 18.
mmmmmmm 36 holes……
May 29th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
Is this yardwork?
/obligatory’d
Spence, what do you normally shoot?
May 29th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
It should be better yes. Previously I relied on general experience from putting the same greens so many times. I’d think, okay this should break 1/2 cup because I’ve had this putt before and I kind of remember and my fuzzy eyesight can pretty much confirm. Now I can see the undulations and get a better idea of the subtle breaks.
I think my problem is just general equilibrium. When I stand over the ball and putt, the ground looks a little closer, flatter. I think it’s the polarization of the glasses on top of the fact they’re prescription. I don’t know. It’s just going to take some getting used to, but once I do, I’ll appreciate that clarity.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
That’s getting it there.
I’ve come down a little on yardage. Hitting a high fade which is good for fairways. That was one thing that immediately jumped out at me about those pros. Their trajectory was a lot lower than my usual ball flight but their ball just stayed in the air forever.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
very interesting, since ive had a similar issue randomly pop up that’s kinda related to equilibrium. i usually line up putts and chips with my left eye closed (im right eye dominant) and sometimes, when i stand over the ball with both eyes open, i cross-eye myself and need to step back. it’s really weird…but happens less frequently the more ive practiced.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
TOTALLY. and you can see how little sidespin they generate via their ballflight too. on the range, you see wicked sliders going every which way, but when a tour pro plays a fade or a draw, it’s a gentle, subtle shape. even the “high spin” players like sergio and tiger.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:16 AM
This is truly the picture says 1000 words. So many things going on here.
neck tat, hat on the left is too big, tilted hat, flat-brimmed hat, guy on the right with the big logo’d hat, the reverse shades, the sloppy jerseys, chains, facial hair..
that old crusty angels fan looks like he wants to beat those assholes for looking like idiots.
this…
May 29th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
That sounds all kinds of weird.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:23 AM
gotta get on my level.

May 29th, 2012 at 10:25 AM
I’ve been thinking about getting prescription sunglasses specifically for playing golf.

May 29th, 2012 at 10:27 AM
my putting issue has been inconsistent tempo. Playing THUR-FRI-SAT (outing) this week. Should be ironed out. But outing golf is bad for you as an individual.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:29 AM
What kind of driver? Been thinking about getting a new one.
May 29th, 2012 at 10:31 AM
smallie…909d2. the whiteboard/d2 combo’s probably outdated by three years, but im loving it.
i love thinking about my tempo and then having my tempo go to shit. really fun, i tell ya.
May 29th, 2012 at 11:13 AM
Spence–if you are right eye dominant close YOUR RIGHT EYE. There’s a reason all good golfers are left-eye dominant. It’s closer to the hole. You don’t have binocular vision when you stand over a ball.
Ritty–polarization is a killer on the course. Flattens everything. It’s hard to find a prescription lens that doesn’t flatten OR fishbowl. It’s why my “golf playing” glasses are 8 years old, and my prescription has changed 3 times. I’ve hit 100000000 practice balls and putts with them, and any change in RX just kills me.
As for ball flight–I always tell guys the same thing. They hit driver higher than you, and irons LOWER than you. Easier to control spin and yardage when it’s lower. They COULD hit irons higher and farther than they do at any time. But target clubs are dialed in, and no need to see how far you can hit an 8 iron.
Shot 72 Sunday morning at 7300 yards. I’m close and getting closer. Now that the pool is open, it’ll get better quickly.
May 29th, 2012 at 11:35 AM
somewhat in the middle of those two, i was always amazed at how high they hit their long irons. it’s relatively easy to hit the ball higher off the tee and deloft a short iron, but hitting a 3i that gets way up off the fairway is not easy.
ill have to try putting with my right eye closed then. ive read the opposite advice tho.
May 29th, 2012 at 11:39 AM
Just use it practicing. Let your left-eye find the line as you stand over the ball. It’s why most Am’s are always aimed too far right. I can tell in 3 minutes whether a guy who can’t putt grew up hunting, or shooting skeet. Too much right eye influence.
May 29th, 2012 at 11:41 AM
VERY interesting…i’ll give it a go.
ive looked into aim and alingment a lot on the greens and don’t have too much of an issue with alignment. what i do have a problem with is being a hamfisted retard on slick downhiller’s.
