Thunder at Spurs: Battle of the 6th Men, Manu Ginobili vs. James Harden
Among the many terrific matchups in the Thunder/Spurs series — Russell Westbrook vs. Danny Green, Serge Ibaka vs. Tim Duncan, Kevin Durant vs. Kawhi Leonard — this video should get you sufficiently excited for the NBA’s 6th Man of the Year, James Harden, vs. former NBA 6th man Manu Ginobili.
I’ll take the Thunder in six. Can’t wait for Lebron vs. Durant and Wade vs. Westbrook.

So weird to watch women’s lacrosse. No helmets or pads..no faceoff scrum like in the men’s game….much less physical.
May 27th, 2012 at 8:23 PM
Holy shit, this is unwatchable. These officials call every little touch. No wonder women’s lacrosse isn’t usually televised…

Women’s lacrosse sets the female race back 30 years imo. Harden needs to be at his best to impact this series especially going up against Ginobli. I like the OKC in 6 pick.
May 27th, 2012 at 8:26 PM
female race
racist
i took okc plus 165 for the series. tonight i have over 204 and okc plus 5.5
May 27th, 2012 at 8:27 PM
Spurs in 6
May 27th, 2012 at 8:30 PM
There are CHARGING fouls in women’s lax.. Seriously. NCAA basketball refs would enjoy this type of ticky tack officiating and rulebook. I will never complain about stalling in the men’s game again as long as the women’s game continues to suck. i’m only watching the title game because Syracuse is playing. Hurry up, basketball

I’ll take the Thunder in six. Can’t wait for Lebron vs. Durant and Wade vs. Westbrook.
So the Knick fan doesn’t think the Celtics have a chance because the best finals would be matchups of Wade v. Westbrook (cause Chalmers couldn’t cover a cripple) Durant vs. Lebron. Ya, cause seeing Parker v. Rondo and Duncan v. Garnett or Rondo v. Westbrook and Pierce v. Durant wouldn’t be fun to watch.
May 27th, 2012 at 8:48 PM
Pfft, we know he just cares about ratings and star power. Its the Cowherd approach of starfucking
May 27th, 2012 at 8:49 PM
Heat would lose to either west team anyways. Theyll get torn up down low
May 27th, 2012 at 8:57 PM
I’ll take the Thunder in six.
I’ll take the Spurs in seven.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:17 PM
Actually everyone with 2 eyes knows the Celtics dont have a chance. When you need Rondo to be draining 3′s to squeak out a series against a dogshit Philly team, you aren’t beating LeBron.
Celtics will win 1, just like last year.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:22 PM
A sports convo wouldn’t be legit without a Boston fan whining about his team not getting respect.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:25 PM

Damn – you are racists. Latent, but still racist all the same.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:25 PM

Yup, Celtics don’t have a chance cause Rondo hit some jumpers. Anyone else take in Lebron and Wade’s dick? Just asking so I know who actually gives good head.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:26 PM
A sports convo wouldn’t be legit without a Boston fan whining about his team not getting respect.
So, my gravatar makes me a Celtic fan. OK, I like jumping to conclusions as well.

Franccona = dick

Franccona = dick
That bit with Hershiser about cutting the ball was kinda funny/kinda whiny. “One for 16″ would make me a bit whiny also.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:33 PM
Funny yes … but waaaaay too serious.
Lighten up dick.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:37 PM
Give me 75% of Bryce Harper and I’ll trade you 100% of Jason Heyward. Heyward is so overrated.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:39 PM
Give me 75% of Bryce Harper and I’ll trade you 100% of Jason Heyward. Heyward is so overrated.
Seems like Heyward isn’t exactly regressing. More like stagnating – he doesn’t seem to have the fire to get to a higher level of consistency.
I know a lot of folk see Harper as a “dick”, and he has a lot of little movements to start his swing. But, he plays hard & competes like a sonovagun. He has helped keep the team afloat while other guys (Morse, Werth) have been out. I like watching the kid play.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:43 PM
At this point with Heyward, just show me something… be a dick, be something, just be run of the mill. Don’t be worried about “how cool do I look fielding this ball” while the dick on the other team takes second.
I like Harper. I love hustle. I love speed. I love putting pressure on every player in the field to play 100% b/c I’m going to force this issue. Just BE SOMETHING.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:44 PM
By the way – I love Michael Bourn for putting so much pressure on the other team.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:44 PM

Heyward and BJ Upton are the two guys I watch that seem to act like that every game. Makes me wanna scream & throw crap at the tv.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:46 PM
Bourn has been a sweet pickup for the Braves (sorry, ms621). Not many guys have the pure leadoff skills Bourn brings every night.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:49 PM
knee-jerk: Thunder way too athletic for the Spurs. very evident in the first half. Harden & Westbrook a combined 5-20, yet they lead?
May 27th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
Thunder way too athletic for the Spurs. very evident in the first half.
Yeah, but…
I’m counting on the old guys (Spurs) to stay patient and execute on both ends. No panic in Popovich nor his team. Plus, Pops is a USAFA grad – I gotta root for those guys.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:52 PM
Meh, more a result of San Antonio turnovers. San Antonio has many athletic players. They arent a slow, old team like so many people assume.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:53 PM
Spurs just need heavy doses of Duncan and Manu. Duncan was just eating up Ibaka in that first half and Manu was on fire for a while
May 27th, 2012 at 9:54 PM
Seems like Heyward isn’t exactly regressing. More like stagnating – he doesn’t seem to have the fire to get to a higher level of consistency
I was just discussing this with my players at our game today. One is a huge Braves fan and he stated Heyward is starting to resemble Jeff Francoer. A lot of promise but little in the delivery department.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:56 PM
A lot of promise but little in the delivery department.
So, how do you break thru to a guy like that? Some would say if he doesn’t already have the fire in his belly, no external force can make it so.
May 27th, 2012 at 9:59 PM
Now jmac, if by athletic you mean fast then yes, OKC is faster than the Spurs but i dont necessarily think that means they are more athletic
May 27th, 2012 at 10:05 PM
So, how do you break thru to a guy like that?
I just don’t know but I agreed with him on the fact that they always seem lost once Chipper goes on the DL. I Heyward needs to decide if he wants to be great or another player who never truly reaches his potential. I was once told by an ex Cub (Moe Morhardt) that potential is a word they give to people who can’t figure it out.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Heyward needs to decide if he wants to be great or another player who never truly reaches his potential.
What a waste if he never figures it out.
I wanna root for the guy generally (and he just bobbled another single, from Zimmerman), but he may never figure it out.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:08 PM
wtf.
Trade the mo fo. Heyword sucks.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:10 PM
Oh my god. If he blames that slip on my buddy Ed I’ll be pissed.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:15 PM
Manu is just ridiculous…
May 27th, 2012 at 10:16 PM
Hey gary neal, youre a PG. stop jacking up bad shots
May 27th, 2012 at 10:17 PM
What’s the deal with Durant pushing the ball up the floor? I didn’t watch a whole lot of OKC this year – has he been doing it all season?
May 27th, 2012 at 10:18 PM
I have always wanted to see Heyward become the guy everyone said he would be and just by watching that he oozes talent. I hope he finds it with Atlanta and not by going somewhere else. Atlanta is a model of how to develop guys but I think they are even are dumfounded by this one.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:19 PM
Hey gary neal, youre a PG. stop jacking up bad shots
It bears repeating … where are all the shooters?
May 27th, 2012 at 10:21 PM
I hope he finds it with Atlanta and not by going somewhere else.
Yep. He could be a cornerstone for the Braves for years. With Chipper’s retirement, there will be room for someone to step forward and lead that team.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:21 PM
Duncan needs to get back in the game as well as Parker. Its obvious Neal/Splitter can’t handle the Thunder. And SA needs to stop taking all these outside shots. You can drive on OKC..not as easily as they did vs the Clippers but still doable. SA will shoot better in the next game, no doubt.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:22 PM
Squawk, its a rare off night for the spurs on offense. They need to just keep pounding it down the lane. Mke the thunder foul them..
May 27th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
Totally agree. I think even the front office is hoping he becomes who Chipper is and was. He has the ability but I just thinks he doesn’t focus enough or doesn’t study the game like Chipper does. Chipper is just awesome. He has always been fun to watch and in that category of being able to carry a team.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:26 PM
Splitter having a few good series. When is Duncan getting back in the game?
May 27th, 2012 at 10:28 PM
Your gravatar makes you the whiniest of the whiniest fanbase in professional sports whining about someone saying the Celtics don’t have a shot against the Heat
May 27th, 2012 at 10:28 PM
Yep. He could be a cornerstone for the Braves for years. With Chipper’s retirement, there will be room for someone to step forward and lead that team.
Fuck that. He’s got no intangibles to support that. Just trust me from inside info – he’s not the guy.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:29 PM
Chipper is just awesome.
Hall-of-Famer, first ballot. One of the smoothest swings ever, especially from the left side. Next season is gonna seem strange without him in uniform.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:30 PM
I think even the front office is hoping he becomes who Chipper is and was.
No – the front office knows better. No. No. No.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:33 PM
Westbrook and Harden have been a disaster. Why aren’t they going to Durant more?
May 27th, 2012 at 10:34 PM
Just trust me from inside info – he’s not the guy.
Too bad – Heyward could make a killing if he had the intangibles.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:34 PM
One of the smoothest swings ever
Big diff between him and Heyward. Huge. Heyward’s swing is a mess.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:35 PM
Tied at 73. Parker sticks one. Pop was right, the team has to get “some nasty” down the strech.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:36 PM
Harden playing like that guy at the gym who just drops shoulder to bully way to hoop. Awful.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:36 PM
One of the few areas where I agree with Skip Bayless – Durant has to be the dominant offensive weapon for OKC. Westbrook cannot try to take over and do everything. He’s too streaky.
And just like that, the Spurs storm back. There’s a reason they were #1 in PPG this year – spurts like that. Imagine if they were having a good shooting night from the start..
May 27th, 2012 at 10:37 PM
I agree Squawkbox but they probably are trying to figure out what type of player he is. Who takes over Chipper’s spot though? McCann? I have that problem now. My best pitcher and all league the last few years is done. Shoulder injury. Marlins tried to sign him and send him to Low A about 5 years ago but he declined. Just wanted to get married and have a kid, which he did. Kid topped off at 93 but avg. 88.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:38 PM
Harden playing like that guy at the gym who just drops shoulder to bully way to hoop.
Those guys are sooooo easy to defend. I loved playing against guys like that. Just beat ‘em to a spot and shut ‘em down.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:40 PM
When Parker, Ginobili and Timmay are on the floor together, I really like the Spurs’ chances to win the title. Can they stay healthy the rest of the way?
May 27th, 2012 at 10:40 PM
Parker. Pierce, and Wade are three of the best at selling the pump-fake and getting the ‘and-1′. It is comical to see defenders fall for it all the time
May 27th, 2012 at 10:41 PM
just get Harden out of there. he’s not playing well at all. Go with Thabo for defense.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:42 PM
They cut loose Francouer quickly… unfortunately I don’t thing they’ll do the same with Heyward b/c …. call me racist … he’s black.
It’s a big deal.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:42 PM
This is exactly what SA did to the Clips when they were down. Sliced and diced their way back to the lead….
Derek Fisher is in FU Lakers mode during these playoffs
May 27th, 2012 at 10:43 PM
Squawk..also because Heyward is the hometown kid. They want to see him succeeed. .
Holy hell, bryce harper destroyed that awfully slow Livan Hernandez pitch into the seats
May 27th, 2012 at 10:43 PM
McCann is already the new face of the Braves.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
OT: Abe Lincoln, vampire hunter? Really?
Hollywood, I’m laughing at you, certainly not with you.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:44 PM
Frenchy’s biggest problem throughout his career has been no plate discipline. I watched a lot of him when he was on the Mets. Swung at way too many pitches out of the zone
May 27th, 2012 at 10:46 PM
Neal, for three…yes!
May 27th, 2012 at 10:46 PM
Squawk..also because Heyward is the hometown kid.
Some … yes.
If he was not black, like Francoer, they’d be ready to drop him like a hot rock by the end of this season.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:46 PM
SROD, its part of these new kind of books which take classic books or historical figures and make sci-fi stories out of it. There’s a book called Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. It’s somewhat humorous.
Speaking of movies, i heard both MIB3 and The Dictator were horrible
May 27th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
I cant believe the Stanley Cup Finals don’t start til Wednesday….and WTF is up with the Miami-Boston game starting at 8:30 tomorrow night? Screw the west coast
May 27th, 2012 at 10:48 PM
Frenchy’s biggest problem throughout his career has been no plate discipline. I watched a lot of him when he was on the Mets. Swung at way too many pitches out of the zone
Give me that – which is a good smooth swing .. vs Heywards hitch filled abomination … give me Frenchy today.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:50 PM
Yeah, A.P., I get it. Like Alan Moore in comic books with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
I get it, but it still seems goofy. I guess “Abe Lincoln” as a fictional character is in the public domain…?
I too have heard MIB3 sucked. The trailers for The Dictator looked gleefully reckless – I may see that before long.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:51 PM
That is why I can’t see OKC winning this series: no real low post offensive threat and no interior defense when Ibaka sits. Perkins is nowhere close to being as good as he was when the Celtics won the title. I do see he is still whining at every call.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:53 PM
wiki page for Abraham Lincoln. Vampire Hunter book
There ya go, SROD
May 27th, 2012 at 10:57 PM

/billy joel’d
//runs car into house
May 27th, 2012 at 10:57 PM
Thanks, A.P. for droppin’ some knowledge. Given the success of the novel, why not make a movie from that source? Hollywood is starved for ideas.
Cap’n Jack with a three? Dang.
May 27th, 2012 at 10:59 PM
I know Durant is first option, but three defenders around him? Dude…
May 27th, 2012 at 11:00 PM
Manu to the bucket…and the foul. Dang, he is slick in getting to the basket.
May 27th, 2012 at 11:01 PM
Thunder are pulling a a Lou Gramm here. Cold as Ice..
May 27th, 2012 at 11:01 PM
The “MLB for the inner city thing” + “black future star” is a disaster waiting to happen … especially in a city like Atl.
Heyward has a lot of pressure on him.
May 27th, 2012 at 11:01 PM
And then harden gets a 3.. Timing
May 27th, 2012 at 11:03 PM
The Celtics think its too easy to get layups on the Thunder….
/prepares for endless Wade/LBJ layups this week
//weeps
May 27th, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Braves have a lot more problems than Heyward’s lazy ass.
May 27th, 2012 at 11:05 PM
The “MLB for the inner city thing” + “black future star” is a disaster waiting to happen … especially in a city like Atl.
We’ve talked about it in this space before. On paper, it may be an admirable goal. On the streets, how many brothas wanna play baseball professionally?
IMHO, baseball doesn’t have the pull in the hood like hoops or football. It did in the past. And, if you’re gonna force a black player (who isn’t necessarily the best player available at his position), he might be the weak link – you leave your team exposed.
May 27th, 2012 at 11:08 PM
Best player on OKC. KD. End. Of. Discussion. Harden & RW didn’t even show up.
May 27th, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Spurs draw first blood. And, Nats are about to sweep the Braves in Hotlanta. Not a bad weekend, sportswise.
And, I saw Toto in Denver last night. Not a bad weekend at all.
May 27th, 2012 at 11:15 PM
On the streets, how many brothas wanna play baseball professionally?
It’s bullshit. Baseball is a suburban and latin american game now. My kid is 12 and plays close to 80 games a year. That’s a suburban thing.
We played a tourny this weekend in North GA. 8 teams – total of 5 non-white kids.
May 27th, 2012 at 11:19 PM
Baseball is a suburban and latin american game now.
The quality of play is there at the MLB level, so adding brothas “just for the sake of” isn’t the answer. I have heard some black guys in the majors complain about the number of brothas decreasing. But, I don’t think you can force it.
May 27th, 2012 at 11:26 PM
But, I don’t think you can force it.
This … all the way. You play what you wanna play.
May 28th, 2012 at 12:09 AM
The reason that black kids want to play football and basketball over baseball has very little to do with “culture.” It’s about money. The fastest way to get a little bit of spending cash, especially in the South, is to be a good high school football player, and have people constantly greasing your palms with 20s, 50s, and 100s. Happens in High School. Happens CONSTANTLY in college ball. Basketball is the same way, especially with that sleaze pit that is AAU basketball.
May 28th, 2012 at 1:18 AM
TBL’s in-game thoughts/analysis are so terrible sometimes it’s brutally hilarious.
May 28th, 2012 at 2:19 AM
Good win fr the Spurs. Weird 1st half with so many turnovers. Also, apparently Fisher can’t miss. But this felt like a win even going into the 4th. Let’s get game two and put them on their heels.
/Perkins is a whiny bitch.
