Udonis Haslem Clobbered Tyler Hansbrough, But Amazingly Didn’t Get Thrown Out
Udonis Haslem paid Tyler Hansbrough back for hammering Dwyane Wade, but it was such a flagrant and obvious foul, refs should have thrown him out. They didn’t. Here’s the foul on Hansbrough, which happens moments earlier.

Initially, the one ref makes a motion to toss Haslem, right?
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:25 PM
awful end to the half for the Pacers. what is George Hill thinking with that final shot?
Barbosa took as many shots (6) in 7 minutes, then Roy Hibbert did in 16.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:29 PM
Haslem should be suspended 1 game for that since he definitely should have been thrown out.
Too bad the Pacers are playing such stupid basketball right now that it’s impossible to feel any sympathy for them.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:32 PM
no way that suspend Haslem for game 6 (regardless of the outcome)
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:32 PM
Seriously.
1) Shot it way too early. Need to limit the Heat possessions at the ends of quarters, obviously.
2) Attempted a long 3, which of course cause longer rebounds, which of course can create fast breaks for the other team.
3) By far not the best shot the Pacers can get in that situation.
Conclusion) Moron.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:33 PM
If true, the NBA is effectively rigging games.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:36 PM
Is ‘clobbed’ a word? It doesn’t sound like a word.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:37 PM
I believe “clobbered” is what we’re looking for.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:39 PM
If you would suspend metta world peace for something like that, you have to suspend Haslem. If it were Wade or James that hit hansbrough, they obviously wouldnt get suspended but you have to suspend someone who didnt even make an attempt at a basketball play
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:41 PM
With Artest being suspended 7 games (!) for what he did, there’s no question that the NBA must take some action here, and it almost certainly must be in the form of a 1 game minimum suspension.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:42 PM
Watching the videos now, how was the Hansbrough on Wade one called a flagrant?
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:44 PM
Yeah – I don’t get it either. He was clearly swatting at the ball using a “normal” basketball motion and made contact with the head. It’s a foul – nothing malicious, excessive or intentional.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:45 PM
Chief, given that they can’t review it and Wade was bleeding, I’m OK with it. I think it’s pretty clear from the video that Hansbrough had no intent and actually almost cleanly blocked Wade, but in that moment it’s probably a fine call.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:45 PM
Wade sold it well as usual.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:46 PM
None of this will matter though with the Pacers playing like absolute shit tonight. Not a strong effort from them thus far.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:47 PM
I always thought Granger was a smarter player than this…
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:47 PM
Oh, I thought they could review flagrants.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:47 PM
Heat fans might be the worst things that exist in this world. Just please end.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:47 PM
Now that foul by Granger is clearly intentional. Why they just let them wrap up the player driving to the basket with a “standard” foul is beyond me.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:48 PM
Only if they call a flagrant 2, I believe.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:48 PM
Look at all the douche broskis in the front rows.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:50 PM
Ridiculous pass from LeBron.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:50 PM
Andrew Bynum would fit in well in Miami with their fans that sit down below in the expensive seats. They are all Frontrunners!
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:51 PM
I see Pat Riley took his thuggish talents to South Beach as well.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:51 PM
OT
Halladay got lit up by the Nationals tonight. I never would expect that.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:53 PM
Indiana is playing this entire game like Philly played the 3rd quarter yesterday. Lazy, sloppy, uninspired.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:54 PM
The Pacers only have a chance if they stop shooting so many jumpers and play inside. Otherwise this game is done.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:56 PM
Just an embarrassing effort from the Pacers.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:56 PM
Pacers have needed more inside activity all game long. Too many close jumpers that could have been dunks, and settling too much for outside jump shots with no rebounders inside.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:58 PM
Yup. And that’s just their offense. Their defense has been utter garbage.
/Can’t believe West isn’t absolutely torching Shane Battier. Sad, really.
May 22nd, 2012 at 9:59 PM
And matt albers serves up a meatball to Wilson Betemit who homers to right…orioles stretch the lead to 4-1. Fuck…red sox had meat of the order comng up top 9. Hoping for Jim Johnson to toss a stinker in the 9th which is not likely
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:00 PM
I take back what i said about West over Brandon Bass last night. Bass shows more intensity and effort as of late. Cant wait for tomorrow nights game. Even Stiemsma went 5 for 5 FG last night.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:01 PM
David West = Brandon Bass
Brandon Bass = David West
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:02 PM
LOL AP. Nice. I hadn’t seen your latest comment yet.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:03 PM
Oh and I mean only as a player. I believe for the money, if this is what you’re getting, you prefer Bass on your team.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:04 PM
Yes…the bass for big baby trade has worked out well for boston

May 22nd, 2012 at 10:07 PM
Barbosa just shot a three over a one shoe’d Mike Miller. I continue to be sad for any Pacers fans.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:09 PM
Including the last play, Collison looks like the only Pacer who senses the urgency of these last two games, maybe Barbosa.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:23 PM
Boston needs to close out tomorrow night and hope Indy wins game 6. Boston needs the extra days off
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:23 PM
Looks like TBL will get his wish to see Juwan V Stephenson in trash time. Get Wade’s old, gimpy ass off the court before he hurts himself.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:25 PM
#Natitude
Is it…NEW?
/shows shelf out
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:44 PM
Screw this EVERYONE & the TNT ducks talking about Haslem should get suspended! WTF? What about the 2 fouls that came from the PACERS and all the others they got away with in Indiana???? !!!!!!!!!
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:49 PM
DAMN!!!
The Heat are shooting 61% for the game!!!
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:52 PM
Live in the moment ceez. The Haslem foul had him timing his jump and swinging over both arms with zero effort to hit the ball. Dunno if it should be a suspension or not but it clearly wasn’t a play on the ball and he deserved the flagrant.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:53 PM
typical heat homer who thinks Miami does nothing wrong. Shut the fuck up and be grateful Wade didn’t get suspended for the flagrant bitch shot on collison in game 2.
Maybe you’re just stupid but Hansbrough’s flagrant was questionable. He went for the ball first. Haslem made NO DAMN ATTEMPT AT THE BALL.
take d-wade’s dick out of your mouth.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:54 PM
You can’t say that foul that white boy did on Wade was a good foul!!
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:54 PM
Besides if you think everyone is wrong all the time, best check yourself.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:56 PM
Hansbrough played the ball and had an harmful follow through. He did contact the ball (the “white boy” that is).
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:56 PM
“Fucking idiot” comes to mind when I read this guy’s comments.
Suspend Haslem 1-2 games, Pittman 10 games.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:57 PM
Like how Pittman winked at someone on the Heat as if he should be proud of what he just did. Thankfully Stephenson didn’t severely injure his neck on that play. That was essentially a calculated assault.
May 22nd, 2012 at 10:58 PM
Ceez- Gabrielle is requesting her turn. Now, off of DWade’s dick please.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:01 PM
@ A.P. GO FUCK YOURSELF!!!! WEB TOUGH GUY!!!
Im no heat HOMER just try to say it how it is and be fair. you even heard Shack’s comment on the play!
You must be a Pacer HOMER/DICK SUCKER! Because the dum Pacers have been fouling like bitches from Game 1 so STOP CRYING now!! everyone knows that Pacers are the 3rd team in the NBA with the MOST fouls cause they cant play a good team!
Now go kill your self!!
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:02 PM
Sounds like it’s your bedtime Ceez. Kthanksbye.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:04 PM
And if you are still up past your bedtime, the guys on TNT are all calling Haslem’s foul intentional and for a suspension. Pittman too for 7 games.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:04 PM
@Chicago you mad cause the Bulls aint shit and Rose stays injured!
@heellacious – I only said one thing bout Dwade! i guess this is a site of Pacer fans and HOMOS! go lick Grangers Dick
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:05 PM
At least we finally have a nice angry playoff series, which I enjoy. Spurs are a snoozefest, Lakers spent more time fighting each other than the other team.
Danny Granger a bitch, talks tough but cant overcome a little ankle tweak.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:07 PM
Now maybe Stephenson will shut his mouth while he is riding the bench.
On a side note thank you Jay V for the free trip to Vegas if we ever randomly meet beers are on me.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:09 PM
no pacer fans here. Just not fans of idiot fanboys like you. You must be the type of inbred who watches First Take religiously and waits 2 hours on hold to stumble over words when your call gets pulled up on the Jim Rome show.
Funny how the Heat fanboys only show up when the Heat win.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:09 PM
Actually Ceez your first post referenced Haslem and his foul. All talk about tonight’s game is relevant. Miami played great and won. Congrats to them. DWade and LBJ played well. The fouls are a secondary discussion but will certainly be revisited in the next few days so tough shit.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:09 PM
Dexter Pittman should shut his mouth at the Buffet line
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Also true but my point is that Stephonson has been running his mouth a ton what did you think was going to happen?
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:15 PM
I move that “Now go kill your self!!!” be used at the end of comments in order to get a successful meme going.
Now go kill your self!!!
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:15 PM
Doc, he APOLOGIZED. What the fuck are you talking about? If you really think any person deserves what Stephenson got, and are OK with what Pittman just did, I’m done interacting with you on this site.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:15 PM
a hard foul perhaps..but not a dirty cheap shot like that.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:16 PM
sounds like a good plan

May 22nd, 2012 at 11:18 PM
I prefer making pad kra pao with Thai holy basil and Golden Boy fish sauce.
Now go kill yourself!!!!
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:19 PM
I am sure Pitmtan will apologize as well does that make what he did okay? Not in a million years but if you didn’t think Stephenson was going to get some sort of hard foul then you are out of it.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:23 PM
I have to agree with Doc that Stephenson’s actions were asking for some type of reprisal. I don’t think that Pittman’s actions were justified at all, but they also weren’t a complete shock. I think of what MWP might have done in that situation…..
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:25 PM
Hey i ain’t trying to be here fighting with anyone, plus I just made one post and everyone jumped on my back and didn’t just disagree but talked shit so dont act like its my fault now. I find it so hypocritical that the Pacers been playing hard fouls from the start of game one plus talking smack and the Heat have not done anything till now. I mean you sit there and take all this hits and hard fouls and see if it doesn’t get to you? plus you see the bandage that Haslem has on his eye? we all know were and how he got it!!
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:27 PM
A sucker punch styled forearm shiver to the neck of a grown man running full speed is not “some sort of hard foul”. It’s highly dangerous and disgusting. I’m seriously in shock that you’re trying to defend that garbage.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:28 PM
the reason the heat never do anything about it other than Haslem is that Bosh, Wade, and James are fake tough guys. They talk shit, play dirty tricks, but when someone really steps to them, they don’t do shit and look at the refs to bail them out. If LeBron had stones, people would have stopped fucking with him years ago.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:29 PM
STUDIO GANGSTERS!
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:30 PM
i think Ralph Wiggums has a better grasp of the English language. Haslem got that cut on a clean, hard foul. There was nothing dirty about what happened to him in game 4. You obviously never watched basketball before 2000 where hard fouls like that were the norm and they weren’t flagrant. Haslem deserves 1 game. Pittman deserves the rest of the playoffs.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:31 PM
Agreed. It’s that I was expecting some type of response but not to that low level where someone could get very seriously hurt. Head/neck injuries are not straightforward, which is why I expect the league to come down hard.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:31 PM
It is very dangerous but it also sends a message to the guy who has been acting like a punk on the bench for the past 5 games to keep his damn mouth shut. Maybe in his future of riding the bench he will no longer talk shit to the players on the floor or make choking signs after a player misses a free throw in the third quarter.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:32 PM
Heat fans better hope they don’t face OKC in the Finals. Kendrick Perkins will gladly use up his 6 fouls per game on hard fouling LeBron and Wade.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:33 PM
LeBron is smart enough to realize how important he is to his team and will never get in a fight. He said that today, you can say it is a fake tough guy but he is just being smart.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:34 PM
they could have sent a message without elbowing a guy in the throat. That’s all we’re saying.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:34 PM
At least you know Boston is going to lose should make it easier for you…
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:35 PM
I understand that but he should never complain again and beg for a foul when someone gets super physical with him.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:36 PM
Without a doubt but to act like this is some unprovoked, worse thing you have ever seen in your life is a little much.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:37 PM
I hope for Boston to win but I’m realistic in thinking they’ll most likely lose. They can win, but they’ll have to make it ugly….and hope that Wade doesn’t bust up Rondo’s arm again. I think it’ll go at least 6 games.
I also don’t think OKC will make the finals. Spurs in 6 over OKC
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:38 PM
maybe the other guys were but I’m not. I figured Stephenson would get hit hard, no doubt about it. I just didn’t expect a dirty, gutless hit.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:40 PM
Most of the time when perimeter players get super physical with LeBron they are fouling him.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:40 PM
Ironic that a Boston fan would call out LeBron for being a fake tough guy. Is KG not still a member of the Celtics?
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:42 PM
WOW. You really are defending it. Fucking incredible.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:42 PM
Its more when he drives to the basket and misses a shot, he usually looks for a foul. I do give him credit for incredible balance because some of those ‘and-1s’ are ridiculous shots.
it also does depend of the referee. some of them just can’t handle the pressure on the big stage.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:43 PM
If Bosh can’t come back I wouldn’t bet on the Heat in all honesty. Rivers will force either LeBron or Wade to beat them by them self and I doubt they can do it. Chicago was making a big deal about the foul
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:44 PM
He’s a jackass and sometimes plays dirty but he’s not a fake tough guy.
/replays the clip of KG fouling Brand by kicking his shin
//watches KG talk shit to small euros
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:46 PM
it all depends on which Boston team shows up. Is it going to be the one that annihilated the Heat during the regular season or will it be the one who struggled against the Hawks and Sixers the past few weeks? I go into each playoff game with no expectations. it’s all a crapshoot for boston. Bradley definitely needs to get healthy for Boston and Ray Allen just needs to be able to give 20 minutes a night of good, solid shooting.
/can’t wait for that Joel Anthony-Greg Stiemsma offensive duel……brick..brick..brick
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:47 PM
Overall there is to much complaining by all players in the NBA but when LeBron is that close to the basket and he can’t even hit the rim I always assume there has to be some sort of foul.
Chicago did you think there wasn’t going to be a foul on Stephenson tonight? Do you think it was unprovoked?
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:49 PM
You obviously never watched basketball before 2000 where hard fouls like that were the norm and they weren’t flagrant. Haslem deserves 1 game. Pittman deserves the rest of the playoffs.
Yeah cause elbowing a guy in the head is a hard foul but what Haslem did was not? he did the exact thing that the other guy did, and he was going up for a shot!
they could have sent a message without elbowing a guy in the throat. That’s all we’re saying.
LOL, so elbowing in the shoulder is wrong but almost elbowing a guys eye out is ok.
also Wade and Lebron cant get kicked out of the playoffs for trying to fight some you kid. Pittman just slipped anyway!
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:50 PM
Please the Spurs will take out OKC and it will be Heat and Spurs.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:51 PM
Even if it was OKC & Heat, the Heat win. OKC has no D-fence and Westbrook will turn it over 32 times!
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:54 PM
Are you dense? I literally just addressed this. It was brutal. Stephenson could have been permanently damaged from an assault like that. I do think it is one of the most disgusting things I have witnessed in the game before. I don’t think you can overrate what Pittman just did. Makes me fucking sick.
Here’s what I already said. Pittman is indefensible.
Also, Stephenson apology rang true. If Pittman apologizes, it’s essentially bullshit. He sought a defenseless player out, tried to severely injure him, and then winked at a teammate. That was 100% planned, the whole way through.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:55 PM
The amount of misspellings in this thread is burning my retina.
GREAT hockey game going on right now. Aside from the Pitt/Philly series, best game of the playoffs by far.
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:56 PM
I have to say people who argue Haslem was going for the ball remind me of people who argued Harden deserved the Ron-Ron elbow.
/looking at you Chicago
//low-blow to compare you to the pro-Haslem position
May 22nd, 2012 at 11:58 PM
Resolute, it’s not even a close comparison. What Artest did was far worse than what Haslem did (although I still say Artest just reacted, while Haslem planned his), but haven’t you noticed that I’m only calling for a 1 game suspension, while I was totally on board with Artest’s 7 game suspension? Remember, I was defending Artest against people that said he deserved more than 7 games.
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:01 AM
Yeah, I remember, just messing with you. We agreed on suspension length for MWP just not necessarily the cause. Haslem should get a game, I don’t know if he will though (considering Wade’s strong safety shoulder shiver on Collison didn’t get upgraded i wouldn’t be shocked, but Haslem might be worse since he was around the head area so he could get 1)
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:05 AM
ok..now I miss The3rdMan. He was intelligent with his trolling. ceez is dumber than the kardashian clan and the hilton sisters put together with a sprinkling of the lohans
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:08 AM
Yep, you definitely don’t watch basketball and didn’t watch when Miami went to OKC this season. If you think OKC has no defense, you didn’t watch the Lakers and Mavericks series.
Keep up the trolling though. Oh and don’t leave once the Heat are eliminated from the playoffs. we’d hate for you to be like most of the other heat fanboys who hide when it goes to shit. I bust Doc Holliday’s balls but he’s here for more than just Heat games.
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:09 AM
ceez is dumber than the kardashian clan and the hilton sisters put together with a sprinkling of the lohans
So ceez is somehow worth more than all of us put together?
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:11 AM
Yea resolute, I expect Haslem may get a game because he targeted the head a bit too much. Wade should have gotten at least a flagrant 2 (probably no suspension, although that was a dangerous play by him too), but hey, he’s D Wade.
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:20 AM
@resolutedefense
ceez is dumber than the kardashian clan and the hilton sisters put together with a sprinkling of the lohans
So ceez is somehow worth more than all of us put together?
to answer your question YES!!
Oh and OKC and the Heat played 2 times in the season and they each got one WIN and one LOSS. Were do you get OKC is any better? everyone losses some games in the season, plus Heat defense has been in the TOP 3 in the NBA!
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:31 AM
So pathetic to see Chicago post 100 or so times on a Heat/Pacer game while his Bulls are out in the semis. Stop whining dude, I’m sure Noah would have done the same if someone gave Rose a cheap shot…not that they have to hit his fragile body for him to get injured. But if they did, Noah would, and you would applaud the team toughness concept embodied by your Bulls. Waaa
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:36 AM
Who has messed with LeBron besides Deshawn Stevenson and Danny Granger? I don’t count Lance Stephenson making hand gestures from the bench as messing with him, felt like that was way overblown.
May 23rd, 2012 at 12:38 AM
Experience wins games. If the young Pacers with their brash “swaggar’ thought they would go far, shame on Larry Bird for not teaching them better. I bet Granger will be a different player next year. Like Stephen A Smith said on ESPN tonight, if you dont have the skills to stand toe to toe with LeBron, you shut up and play. Obviously Hansbrough doesnt remember how Magic Johnson floored Isiah Thomas after getting tired of being manhandled by the Detroit “Bad Boys” Pistons (1989 finals). And who told Frank Vogel to keep playing Granger with a bad ankle? Who advised him to play Stephenson after the Haslem play? And since he was in, who told Stephenson to go after any rebounds or get into any physical play?

1 of 4 Bulls on the dirtiest players of all time list as put together by bleacherreport.
May 23rd, 2012 at 1:00 AM
The NBA has been pussified enough no need to suspend Haslem for paying back Hansbrough for his own flagrant 2 that was called a flagrant 1. Anyone who argues that Hansbrough hitting Wade in the face with the hard follow through and scratching him on the drawback was inadvertant needs to get their eyes checked. The biggest disgrace was the whiny Kerr practically lobbying on tv for a Haslem suspension. Indiana has been playing bully ball the entire series. If the League was concerned about the “rough” play, they should have addressed the behavior of the Pacers early on. They didn’t, so I guess the Heat decided to take matters into their own hands.
May 23rd, 2012 at 1:10 AM
Good points Ben. Did anyone see Hansborough high-five Amundson immediately after his cheap shot on Wade? Funny how Heat haters call them soft and then all hell breaks loose when they fight back.
May 23rd, 2012 at 6:32 AM
I guess I owe you an apology for loving basketball. Sorry I broke your commenter rules by commenting when my team was out of the playoffs.
I would never applaud a player for doing something like that. There’s no place in the game for intentional forearm shivers to the head and neck. Nice personal attack on me after I’m already gone though.
May 23rd, 2012 at 9:13 AM
Wow. Some solid trolling going on here in this thread.
Anyways, as a Heat fan, I’m disgusted by both the Haslem and Pittman plays. The Pittman one was dirtier, and he should be gone for at least 7 games, but the Haslem one wasn’t much better. The only difference was he waited for Hansbrough to shoot before attacking him while Pittman just outright blasted Stephenson. They’re both dirty and stupid as hell though and have no place in the game.
May 23rd, 2012 at 9:14 AM
And I’ll also add I do think Hansbrough’s foul was a legitimate flagrant and intentional. He raked Wade’s freaking eyes like a pro wrestler.
