Stan Van Gundy Fired By the Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic have finally fired Stan Van Gundy. General Manager Otis Smith is out in Orlando as well. It was only question of when with SVG and the Magic, with star player Howard undermining him. It was a surprise it took this long after the Magic were eliminated from the playoffs.
Dwight Howard
At least we’ll always have that awkward Pepsi swig interview.

Inevitable. Had to do this to have any chance of keeping Howard long term. Clipper’s should hire him now.

Yeah, but Dwight’s still gonna bolt, and the Magic will be left with nothing.

Jon Jones with a DUI and SVG gets fired, really a banner day for Rochester in the sports world.

Didn’t they say if he doesn’t sign extension by next trade line, they’d trade him? I don’t remember, but I thought that was said.

I wish Blake would stop crying to be traded as well, whining about not getting the rock, etc…
/really?

This is intriguing. If Mike Woodson leaves the Hawks, they should kick Stan Van’s tires too.

D’Antoni to the Magic?

I’d like to thank this post for reminding me to look at this picture again, though. So much hair then.

Actually, this leaves the door open for Pat Riley to continue to be a snake. He can fire Spoelstra in the middle of next season and hire Stan to right that terrible wrong from 2005.

/Intentional’d?

Stupid Knicks are content with Hawks coach, Mike Woodson. Go after Stan, pretty please?

this is sounding more and more like the Lebron/Cavs saga

Gotta keep that meme rollin’ right along. It’s about all I’m good for in the basketball posts.
May 21st, 2012 at 4:17 PM
Huh? Is that a thing?
Also fun… Clips trade for Howard (Bledsoe/Griffin seems a high price, but they clearly have assets), fire VDN, and hire SVG. I’d enjoy that.

Surprised it took so long.

I really hope he ends up with the Wiz.

Stan Van Dungy with a gangsta lean in that picture. Or he’s impersonating Bernie Lomax.

All that’s missing is Tom Izzo repeatedly calling Dwight, only he won’t pick up the calls.

Inevitable. Had to do this to have any chance of keeping Howard long term.
Except that, as we’ve seen, Howard has the depth of commitment of a high school girl — forever means only till summer break is what she told me. Why??! So there’s no guarantee that this move won’t backfire.
Then again, there was no way the Magic were bringing back all members of this past season’s media debacle.
BTW, isn’t Isiah Thomas in Florida right now?
