I don’t know. Ask me a few years ago, and I would say he lacks a mid range game, but he has improved that tremendously. I think it has more to do with his mental makeup, not that its a mental weakness. I think he’s a guy who’d be happier with Rajon Rondo type numbers. They said Ty Cobb could have had higher home run numbers, but he had disdain for that type of game. I think LeBron is a guy with tremendous scoring ability who isn’t in love with scoring or having that burden. He’d rather be the guy who sets up the game winner, get your rebounds, and play your tough defense.

ok, darrell, do you think lebron is too passive sometimes? and that consistency is important? knowing that at least one player is going to bring it?

I think he’s more Magic than Michael. People forget Magic didn’t really have to become an end of the game killer until the 86 or 87 season because he always had Kareem. I think LeBron’s mentality would have him beat himself up more if he misses the right pass at the end of a game than missing a shot. I think he’s trying to straighten that out in his head, which is why he went to the all time greats to get their opinions over the summer. He thinks the game at an all time high level and that gets in his way.

I’m not saying he has to hog the ball, but when your team absolutely needs a bucket, the ball should be in your MVP’s hands, not Shane fucking Battier’s.

Just focus on basketball for the season. Worry about your image, endorsements, and business ventures in the offseason. He needs to stop caring about being liked. Just ball.

I think these are all anti LeBron cliches. There is nothing that he has exhibited that shows any perceived shortcomings being due to business ventures. If he has to put up a super human effort like this every game for the Heat to win, the won’t win a title, just like the Cavs, and it won’t be his fault. It’ll be the fault of players like Wade coming up short.

This highlights my exact dislike/frustration with Bron Bron.

Because they get rattled when teams get physical with them…once in a while they can overcome it but many a times, a team pushes them aronund, LBJ/Wade don’t get the calls, and they start taking too many threes and errant jumpers

i read this and the only word i see is: inconsistency.

I wouldnt count on Miller. He could barely make it up and down the court today. They’ll need Battier and Chalmers to be consistent. If James Jones could play any defense, he’d be out there more often. He’s just a huge liability.
