LeBron and Wade (with Help From Udonis Haslem) Beat Pacers in Game 4, 101-93
LeBron James: 40 points, 18 rebounds, nine assists in 44 minutes. It was probably the 2nd best performance of his career. So he’ll read the Hunger Games again before game five, right?
Dwyane Wade: 30 points, nine rebounds, six assists. During one brilliant stretch, he made 11 baskets without a miss.
The two went through a period where they scored 38 straight points for Miami. It grew to 48 of 50 points spanning the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters. For a 21-minute stretch, no Heat player besides LeBron or Wade made a basket. Then Udonis Haslem chipped in with 14 points, and the Heat evened the series at two games apiece.
Commentary’s not necessary. Wade responded to his embarrassing game three showing. He got Dan LeBatard to eat this column. The trade Wade chatter that seemed laughable Friday is downright comical now.
We’ll save our Frank Vogel criticism for tomorrow. And we’ll probably talk a little bit about Danny Granger, too.

Incredible game by LeBron. He essentially force fed Wade in perfect spots the entire 3rd quarter to get him going. Just a gorgeous effort by him to lead his team to a win. Wade is by far the second best on that team, and if he doesn’t embrace it moving forward, the Heat will struggle. Wade played off LeBron today and it worked amazingly well.

I hope today puts an end to that ridiculous theory that bitch Wade was the best player on the heat.

JHS – who thought that?
I’m curious how pissed Indy fans are at Vogel

If West and Hibbert have foul trouble, let them play and foul out. Benching them until the game is out of reach makes no sense. Having Amundson and Barbosa play such large roles in the 4th qtr makes no sense either.

The game really wasnt out of reach when they came back in. Heat ball and five points down with 5 mins to play isn’t a foregone conclusion.

Really impressive. Wade was shit to start out (again) and needed a spark, Bron made it happen.
At some point Chalmers/Miller/Battier will start to hit some 3′s, and thats most likely to happen at home. Survive this series, get Bosh back and make a run.
Dont see how you can complain about Vogels coaching, sometimes you get LeBronned, there’s no stopping it. Move on.

IT would help if they had a dominant scorer like a Dirk or a Pierce who can offset a Lebron offensive explosion.
May 20th, 2012 at 8:45 PM
Coop,
I wouldnt count on Miller. He could barely make it up and down the court today. They’ll need Battier and Chalmers to be consistent. If James Jones could play any defense, he’d be out there more often. He’s just a huge liability.

i read this and the only word i see is: inconsistency.
why doesn’t he/they do this every game?
May 20th, 2012 at 8:56 PM
Vez – why?
Because they get rattled when teams get physical with them…once in a while they can overcome it but many a times, a team pushes them aronund, LBJ/Wade don’t get the calls, and they start taking too many threes and errant jumpers
May 20th, 2012 at 9:40 PM
Mainly i meant lbj’s aggression….why doesn’t he attack all the time?

Your guess is as good as mine

This highlights my exact dislike/frustration with Bron Bron.

If LeBron had the same intensity and focus as Kevin Garnett, he would have won a title by now.
May 20th, 2012 at 10:40 PM
It seems like his focus isn’t totally on the game during the season. Just focus on basketball for the season. Worry about your image, endorsements, and business ventures in the offseason. He needs to stop caring about being liked. Just ball.

it’s funny…the guy who started the whole athlete making more money away from his sport era was the one most focused on his sport and its championships
May 20th, 2012 at 11:24 PM
well, maybe OJ made more money away from his sport, but i’m referring to mj

I think these are all anti LeBron cliches. There is nothing that he has exhibited that shows any perceived shortcomings being due to business ventures. If he has to put up a super human effort like this every game for the Heat to win, the won’t win a title, just like the Cavs, and it won’t be his fault. It’ll be the fault of players like Wade coming up short.

There is no doubt that Lebron works hard in the off season. He has played better every single season – you can’t ask for more from a player. With that being said, the only thing left to criticize him on are those moments down the stretch or during the duration of the game when he goes passive. It boggles my mind that he passed it to Shane Battier and Dwyane Wade when the Heat needed a bucket in (I believe) game 2 – it was the play where Wade missed an off balance layup under the rim.
I’m not saying he has to hog the ball, but when your team absolutely needs a bucket, the ball should be in your MVP’s hands, not Shane fucking Battier’s.

He also made the same pass to a wide open Haslem at the end of the game yesterday that he made in Portland. The difference is Haslem rewarded LeBron and hit this shot. I have no problem with him making a pass to open teammate if he is being aggressive.
May 21st, 2012 at 11:46 AM
I meant in Utah
May 21st, 2012 at 11:49 AM
ok, darrell, do you think lebron is too passive sometimes? and that consistency is important? knowing that at least one player is going to bring it?
his no-look pass to wade was amazing. had to make the wife watch the replay

I think he’s more Magic than Michael. People forget Magic didn’t really have to become an end of the game killer until the 86 or 87 season because he always had Kareem. I think LeBron’s mentality would have him beat himself up more if he misses the right pass at the end of a game than missing a shot. I think he’s trying to straighten that out in his head, which is why he went to the all time greats to get their opinions over the summer. He thinks the game at an all time high level and that gets in his way.
May 21st, 2012 at 1:15 PM
ok…school me, because it seems so obvious to me and i admit to a lack of hoops knowledge
why doesn;t he attack the basket as often as possible? it’s either a hoop or a foul drawn
May 21st, 2012 at 2:20 PM
I don’t know. Ask me a few years ago, and I would say he lacks a mid range game, but he has improved that tremendously. I think it has more to do with his mental makeup, not that its a mental weakness. I think he’s a guy who’d be happier with Rajon Rondo type numbers. They said Ty Cobb could have had higher home run numbers, but he had disdain for that type of game. I think LeBron is a guy with tremendous scoring ability who isn’t in love with scoring or having that burden. He’d rather be the guy who sets up the game winner, get your rebounds, and play your tough defense.
