Jesus Christ that bungee jump video took waaay too long to get to the actual jump
May 16th, 2012 at 8:24 AM
How good does Spider Man look? Not very.
The Bobcat essay was dope.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:27 AM
I like how you have an ad up there advertising a sport nobody on your site actually watches.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:27 AM
Now that’ s an ass
May 16th, 2012 at 8:29 AM
you could bungee jump off of that shelf sophie’s got going on
May 16th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
I’m not sure why the Spider-Man movie exists, is it a full reboot less than 10 years after the last one?
Also upsetting, Total Recall might be the first movie to be remade where the original came out in my lifetime
May 16th, 2012 at 8:31 AM
the Dalai Lama is afraid of being eaten by sharks
(Maybe you already heard this) My son told me this one last week: the Dalai Lama goes into a pizza place, and wants “one with everything”…
May 16th, 2012 at 8:32 AM
watch it, Miz is quite the nascar fan boy. but yeah, it really doesn’t need to expand every time you go to a different page.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:34 AM
The same reason they are making more 30 for 30. We made a couple good ones, now lets get really rich making shitty ones.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:34 AM
How old are you? I gotta think there’s been a ton of remakes in the last 20-odd years. Batman, Spider Man, Total Recall, The Departed.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:35 AM
Not nearly as good as Dark Knight Rises or the Avengers was.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
Butters – it has to do with the rights to the character. Sony has some period of time where they have to “do something” with Spiderman or the rights revert to Marvel. Apparently Fox has the same deal with XMen and FF
May 16th, 2012 at 8:36 AM
terrible. Sony knows this movie sucks. why release a 4 minute trailer 1.5 months before the release? Gotta get this, Fantastic 4 and the X-Men back to Marvel Studios.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:37 AM
Forgot to include this in my last post — we’re getting a remake because otherwise the rights would have reverted back to Marvel. Sony needs to keep churning out SM properties or they effectively lose the license. Crazy, right?
To me, it would have made more sense to include him in The Avengers rather than commit to a $250M not many people wanna see. But I don’t know whether that would have fulfilled the terms of the contract.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:37 AM
Interesting, thanks

ABC 2012-2013 TV schedule,
Wife likes Revenge, I like college football. Everything else sucks.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
X-Men First Class was awesome. That was definitely a successful reboot.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:39 AM
Man it sounds like a few of you really know your movie rights

I’m getting sick of super hero movies. They are all the same…lots of CG effects and super machines doing bad things to New York City/Earth. Give me a great mafia movie Hollywood. Please.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:40 AM
sophie turner…million dollar body, ten cent face.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:41 AM
it wasn’t a reboot, it was a prequel. it tried to have continuity with other films, but now there are a ton of plot holes. it was decent.
did ya know that Marvel Studios cannot even use the term “mutant” in their movies?
May 16th, 2012 at 8:41 AM
no…. the Knicks need it to be able to get someone else while keeping Lin
May 16th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
I’m getting sick of super hero movies.
Yeah me too. Although I was never into them in the first place so that might have something to do with it.
Dude from the League is in a few indie movies this summer that look really good. Argo looks fantastic, but after that….I haven’t seen much that I am interested in.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:43 AM
sophie turner…million dollar body, ten cent face.
Yeah, I would too.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:43 AM

May 16th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
If you define the mafia as traditional Italian gangsters in track suits, then you’re probably gonna have to wait a while. The Sopranos set the bar pretty high.
However, if you’re willing to expand the definition a bit, there are two good-looking crime flicks coming out in the fall: this and this.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
Definitely don’t disagree on some points. Yeah, Magneto helped Xavier build Cerebro according to the first movie, oops, the CIA developed it in First Class. But, it was definitely better than the Wolverine movie and the third movie. It was better at parts than the first movie. X2 is still the best of the X-Men movies.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:44 AM

May 16th, 2012 at 8:44 AM
nevermind.
/shouldve watched vid first
May 16th, 2012 at 8:45 AM
Oskie – there’s talk about adding another female to the next Avengers movie and some of them would have to have truncated backstories because Marvel can’t reference the mutant side of things. Gotta love legal rights

Forbes guy really did a poor job explaining the Lin issue – NY Times article (which was first) does a much better job http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/15/sports/basketball/union-seeks-clarity-on-bird-rights-knicks-could-benefit.html?_r=1
May 16th, 2012 at 8:47 AM
I didn’t think it was that far fetched. It could have easily referred to Magneto helping Charles build the version that’s at the Xavier estate.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Having seen the Tobey Maguire’s flicks many times, this is how really I envisioned Peter Parker, skinny, little geeky, just like the comic books. Plus, I believe this flick follows alot of the original Spider-Man concepts..creates his own web shooters. Plus, you gotta love the new Gwen Stacey….Emma Stone
May 16th, 2012 at 8:50 AM
WHAT THE FUCK DUNKIN DONUTS

May 16th, 2012 at 8:56 AM
but they changed the origin story. now the spider bite triggers something that has already been implanted in his DNA. i don’t like that at all. they seem to be playing to the newer storyline of his parents being SHIELD agents, which Sony cannot reference anyway, just allude to it.
May 16th, 2012 at 8:57 AM
More of a prequel then a reboot.

I could discuss the first Total Recall at length. One of the greatest examples of 80′s/90′s gratuitousness. Arnold, Sharon, Paul Verhoeven. Fantastic.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
The new Spider Man looks like a video game. That’s going to be its biggest problem. Plus the script is supposedly a mess.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
You have to mention Michael Ironside, you just have to.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:02 AM
The most Lin can get is about 4 years/$35million – the only question is do the Knicks have to use their MLE to keep him, or does the NBA Players Union win this appeal and he has Early Bird rights which allow the Knicks to pay him without using the MLE.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:03 AM

All I remember about Total Recall was the three tits…that’s one that never seems to make it back to HBO or basic cable
May 16th, 2012 at 9:07 AM
that (points at roundup pic). who the hell is that?
really, who is that? that is one tremendous toilet.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:08 AM
Yes, but I suspect Spiderman was the only one to make a major ad buy with McPaper’s online properties.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:10 AM
The EDC board ultimately voted to grant 38 Studios $75 million of the $125 million available through the Job Creation Guaranty Program created by the General Assembly in 2010.
Good job Rhode Island – giving 60% of your job creation fund to one company, a video game company founded by Curt Schilling. Looks like extracurricular activities will be cut at Qhahog School District.

May 16th, 2012 at 9:17 AM

Nice ass on the prostitute at the top of the page though.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
No. There’s a video of him from above on the shaft plane (kind of a 3/4 angle) that’s really a joy to watch. It’s a b&w scientificky-looking film.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
True Rhode Islanders feel that Schilling’s contributions in 2004 were worth more than 75 mill.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Credit to Jason is due. Roundup chicks been looking better recently.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:19 AM
Not very.
I understand Sam Raimi fucked up the TRILOGY LESS THAN 10 YEARS AGO, but there’s no need to make another one with a different actor and story.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:20 AM
Does this only count for non-Xmen movies or something? They use the word mutant all the time in the movies.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:21 AM
Agreed, it was way too early for them to remake Spider-Man even if Emma Stone is a gargantuan upgrade from snaggletooth Kirsten Dunst.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:22 AM

Dude still looks like Hunter S. Thompson.
Charlie Weis is coaching Kansas, but he’s still collecting checks from Notre Dame, and will continue to do so for a few years.

May 16th, 2012 at 9:23 AM
What a spectacular hiney. Damn.
In other news, that bungee jump video has to be a fake. You can sense water that close, right? Hear it, smell it, etc. Definitely a fake.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
As SEVERAL people have already said, if Sony sits on the rights without making movies they revert to Marvel and suddenly they’re out a billion dollars. Raimi didn’t want to make the fourth one so they rebooted it. It’s a simple business decision.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
I have superhero movie fatigue. And the whole rights/licensing thing is a joke and spits in the face of the fans who bought comic books and action figures, thus enabling the jump into Hollywood. How does Hollywood repay us? By watering down or creating shitty origin stories, awful scripts and dialogue, and stupid plot holes.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:24 AM
Sixteen Candles taught me that extra terrestrials have 4. I really don’t know what to believe.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
I know “SEVERAL people have already said” it. Just because Sony has to churn out a flick doesn’t mean it should.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
ark – I did the Richard Petty Driving School last Saturday at Daytona. I had 8 laps in my own car following an “instructor” that set the pace based on my ability to keep up. it was effing incredible.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:25 AM
Have you ever read a Spiderman comic? Because that’s basically describing the vast majority of them right there.
/and most Marvel comics in general
May 16th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
Sony needs money, Spiderman is low risk-high reward in terms of revenue. should do well overseas, if it doesn’t do that well in the US.
the name recognition alone will get people to the theatres in droves at least on opening weekend, as long as Avengers still isn’t killing all other releases at the time.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
Sony needs Spiderman, MIB3 and Skyfall to be big this year considering how much the rest of the company is struggling currently. The first two Spiderman were also hugely profitable for them.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:26 AM
In addition to size, toughness and intestinal fortitude you can’t coach a “Listen up you measly peasant. I own your dick and I know it so why don’t you go rub one off cos you ain’t touching this” pose like that. Its either you’re born with the skill set or you’re not.
Ms. Turner appears to be gifted.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
You’re right, they shouldn’t make sure to hold onto the property that has netted them over two billion dollars.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
…and I just saw on twitter that Michael Bay is going to have Donatello a chick in his TMNT movie. Fuck America
May 16th, 2012 at 9:27 AM
I’m not much of a fan of Spiderman, so no I haven’t read a lot of comics.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
if anything is an indication that comic and super hero movies have finally hit the bottom of the barrel, this is it.
/original TMNT comics were great, from the one or two that i read when i was 10. violent, bloody and awesome.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
Jesus christ. I understand the business side of it. It nets assloads of money. That doesn’t mean it’s a good movie. This is the problem with Hollywood. Money > quality. It’s the Michael Bayization of the movie industry.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
Yes – apparently only Xmen movies (and thus Fox) can use the “mutant” word. So no Scarlet Witch or someone like that in Avengers if they want to do her complete backstory. Not sure exactly how FF works with the term though
May 16th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
Lama still looks like Hunter S. Thompson.
Dunno, needs a faded wrinkled hat and a cigarette.
Now, if you want to talk about dopplegangers, I’m not sure how they got Eddie Van Halen to play the druglord in Raid Redemption.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:29 AM
TMNT is weaksauce, as the kids say
and i’d set my bourbon-on-ice on that roundup pic ass
May 16th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
It opens with virtually no competition. It has GI Joe the week before which will be dead by the second weekend, its bookened by Madagascar and Ice Age by a few weeks, and a Madea movie. It will make shitloads of money for the two weeks before Batman.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:30 AM
Wow, I bet that was sweet. I would have done this stuff when I was in my 20′s, but I’m just too chicken shit now 20 years later. A friend of mine did the ride along at Richmond a couple of years ago, where they gave you like 4 laps, we sat on pit road and watched. He said he couldn’t believe how it seemed like a given they were gonna hit the wall in the corner and then the driver just deftly turned the wheel and sped thru the turn.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
Thus making it the first industry in the history of the world to be profit driven.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:31 AM
No, that is not possible.

can’t believe they are remaking Carrie. spacek, laurie, travolta or gtfo
eventualy every movie will be remade, right?
May 16th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Your face is weaksauce.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
If Brave is good (crossing fingers), it should still have some coattails two weeks later.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:33 AM
X-Men First Class was great.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:34 AM
You’re assuming that people care about the Scarlet Witch.
Next Avengers female character will be Wasp.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
That’s why I like Nolan’s Batman movies so much. They are much darker than your average super hero flick.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
Exploit the idiots.
Be sure to enjoy Andrew Garfield doing his best Tobey McGuire impersonation as you scarf popcorn in a heroin-induced trip.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:35 AM
How does Hollywood repay us? By watering down or creating shitty origin stories, awful scripts and dialogue, and stupid plot holes.
You are all grown men having hissy fits about movies made about comic books. Get a hold of yourselves.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
I did the Richard Petty Driving School
I did the 2 day Panoz school at Road Atlanta some years ago (I think it’s Skip Barber Racing now). I highly recommend it to everyone.
My shoulders and legs were sore as hell after that second day.
They get you on the skid pad, small slalom course, small road course. The second day is spent racing the big track all day – mostly in the car by yourself. Incredible.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Why the fuck is Michael Bay allowed to do a TMNT movie?! Fuck him, fuck everyone.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:36 AM
Your face is weaksauce.
but i’ll be sober in the morning
May 16th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Husker – I really liked X-Men: First Class. The casting of young Charles and Erich was a great move. As to Nolan’s Batmans, I think he’s set the bar so high that other superhero movies just can’t touch it. Avengers or First Class were the closest.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Yes, more Scarlet Witch please. And that’s all I have to say about that.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:37 AM
The third movie was a complete abortion. Brett Ratner is a Michael Bay clone in that they both suck donkey cock yet they still get good work. Wolverine was just all out awful.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
OH THE HORROR!!!
May 16th, 2012 at 9:38 AM
Donatello is the best Ninja Turtle too so they decide to ruin him by turning him into a girl. Is it because he’s a philosopher? I guess that makes him girly?

I laughed.
“excuse me, I speak slang.”
May 16th, 2012 at 9:39 AM

Especially in favor of more screentime for Wil.I.am.
I only watched the leaked print without all the finished CGI and saw all I needed to. That movie was god awful. Would like to think that leak cost them around a hundred million, too.

Masters of the Universe is a great flick. I’d love a remake, but let’s be honest…Hollywood has a 9/10 chance of fucking that up.

It’s a fun movie and the 2 1/2 hours breezes by. Some cheesy dialogue, but a lot of quips make up for it.
Snow White and The Huntsman has some appeal to me, too. Prometheus is my desire this summer, as much as TDKR.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
Avengers was really good. Pretty well written, did what it needed to do, and did it well. Plus they didn’t fuck up the Hulk.
Order of interest for me:
1. Dark Knight Rises
2. Avengers
3. Promethmus
4. Brave
May 16th, 2012 at 9:47 AM
I’ll go see the new Spiderman. Maybe not in theaters. But I’ll watch it. Martin Sheen and Sally Field as the Parkers? Sure. Why the hell not.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:48 AM
+1 Frank Langella rolling through an empty KMart parking lot on a homecoming float.

May 16th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
Production budget of $150 million (usually you can double that to equal total budget as fas as PR and Ads go). Worldwide box office take was $373 million. So I hate to say it, but it most likely made them a nice bit of cash when you factor in DVD/Blu-Ray sales.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
Not a racing guy but that sounds fucking awesome.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
badass man, I bet that was a blast.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
I hear this a lot, but I am all in on the 3 Stooges.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
Hawkeye, which one?
May 16th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
Prometheus looks fantastic. This summer the movies are seriously a billion times better than last year’s shit shows. Sure, we still get crap like Battleship, but there are 5-8 (depending on taste) really cool-looking flicks coming out.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:51 AM
Oh I know it made money, I mean I’d like to think it cost them a fair amount in box office receipts they would have seen had the leak never come out.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
Ah…gotcha. I just wanted any excuse to go to Boxofficemojo.com. I fucking love that site.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
“I tried to think but nuthin happens!”
May 16th, 2012 at 9:53 AM
If Lawrie gets more than 2-3 games, it’s pretty dumb. He slammed his helmet on the ground. Last I checked, even top prospects don’t have use of the Force and can’t control where an object bounces after it hits the ground.
Pitch F/X said that ball was about 3/4 of an inch out of the zone so not a totally egregious miss by the umpire. Fernando Rodney has been getting a lot of calls this year though. Just ask Cody Ross.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:53 AM

May 16th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Hey, Pixar movies are always must see for me. I’ll take on any shit thrown my way for that statement. Except Cars…those movies sucked ass.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
They’re an acquired taste. I just don’t get the humor, to each his own I guess
May 16th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
MIB3 cost $375 million dollars. There’s no way Sony comes out of this in the black.
1. TDKR
2. Prometheus
3. Lawless
4. Brave
5. Gangster Squad
234. Battleship
May 16th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
I never got the 3 Stooges.
I’ll clue you in: it’s slapstick comedy. Curly says something stupid, Larry reacts, Moe slaps Larry, Curly pokes Moe, who retaliates by bopping Larry over the head. Repeat.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:55 AM
Oh shit. Strike two called was a full 2 inches out of the zone. Now that’s a bad call. Can see why Lawrie went Hulk there.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Pitch F/X said that ball was about 3/4 of an inch out of the zone so not a totally egregious miss by the umpire.
Was that on the called third strike or the second one? Both looked outside the zone.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Why not? Worldwide + DVD + online streaming?
May 16th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Hawkeye, which one?Scarlet Witch link
That one? I clicked on it and it came up. Some girl at a Comic Con I’ll try it again. Scarlet Witch. She’s trying hard to hold my attention.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Don’t do this to me. I have work to do…
May 16th, 2012 at 9:56 AM
I hate to admit this but I wanna see that, too.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:57 AM

May 16th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Read that as BBob. I assume that was a typo.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Yeah but this looks like a weaker one to me. Plus MacDonald’s voice is really irritating.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
I haven’t seen a movie in the theater in a long time, hope to end that streak with Prometheus, which is the only movie I consider a must see this summer. Dark Knight Rises looks good tho, but still skeptical about Hathaway being involved.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
They probably made some of that money back with product tie-ins. In addition, usually the Memorial Day weekend movies perform in-line with a $80-$120 mil domestic opening. The international audience will help contribute. Most movies don’t go in the red, b/c of international box offices.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:58 AM
I laughed. I just hope Peter Berg got a hummer or at least a handy for casting Rihanna.
May 16th, 2012 at 9:59 AM

May 16th, 2012 at 10:00 AM
It has a high-bust worry for me, but if it hits I think it’ll be fantastic. The trailers are wonderfully done in my opinion.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Unless the movie is “John Carter”
May 16th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
$375M is a shitload to make, even worldwide. It’ll probably make about $140-$160 million stateside, putting $200M+ on the shoulders of the international community. Will Smith is still a big worldwide star but that’s a lot of money for what will almost certainly be a terrible movie.
I guess if you factor in DVD/BD sales and other revenue streams then the movie comes out ahead. But then so does every movie. I can’t imagine this will be profitable in terms of theater gross.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:02 AM
To Men in Black III’s credit, it’s only an hour and forty minutes long. Nice to see someone bucking the trend of every big summer movie being two and a half hours long.
/fuck you Marvel
May 16th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
Not really. Not anymore. I’d be stunned if it didn’t make that worldwide.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:03 AM
It was a typo, there was supposed to be 3 youtube links in that sentence.

Can’t type numbers or distances correctly. 3/4 of a foot on the 3rd strike. A foot and a third on called strike 2. It’s the red dots that are called strikes. So, 15 inches off the plate for the first pitch that missed and about ~3 inches or so on the called third strike. That called strike for strike 2 isn’t even close. That’s a Tom Glavine strikezone right there.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
Well that’s the falsest thing I’ve ever read.
And the Donatello being a girl was an April Fool’s joke, everybody. Yes, Bay’s Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles will still be awful, but all the turtles are still going to be male.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
Men in Black II made more than 400 million total and now you have 3D ticket sales factored in no way in hell does it not hit that number.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:04 AM
There are some stooges that are hilarious some not. Forgot speed racer and banana splits. As i got older after school was after school movies like planet of the apes week and cubs games from 7th inning on
May 16th, 2012 at 10:05 AM
For some of the people talking movie money, there is often a tier that says the theater gets x% of week one gate, y% of week 2 gate, z% of week 3 gate, etc. The chains get %’s too. The ancillaries make up a large part too. But in 2012, a studio cant complain about piracy, that cat is out of the bag. Protect your property or suffer. I’m not pro-piracy of films but it’s been around for a long time.

May 16th, 2012 at 10:06 AM
Here was the original Donatello will be a girl article. Not sure why it’s gathered steam after a month and a half, probably because people on the Internet are stupid.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
Just watched the Lawrie strikeout, wow. He did go all Hulk there, but those were some lousy strike calls. That Ump is a pansy though….when the helmet bounced off the ground and hit him, he acted like a snake just came up and bit him.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:07 AM
movie talk Wednesday up in here
May 16th, 2012 at 10:08 AM
Yeah, that might be one of the few exceptions. Disney made it up with the Avengers many times over.
Nice. Not every movie needs to be 150 minutes long.

Kids go to see the MIB flicks in droves, regardless of how bad they are. It’ll do fine, even though it’ll be somewhat crappy.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:10 AM
I take offense to this “Raphael is the best TMNT” crap I’m seeing here. I’ll accept Leonardo and maybe even an occasional suggestion of Mike if the reasoning is sound but Raphael?! Get the fuck out of here.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:10 AM

May 16th, 2012 at 10:11 AM
Fernando Rodney gettin’ some serious calls this season. Red Sox fans will remember this one.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:12 AM
Rihanna would be a horrible Battleship player, you can see the entire board reflected in her giant shiny forehead.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:12 AM
i laughed.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
You’re probably right, but remember that MiB2 came out two years after the hugely popular original. In other words, there was demand. This is eight years late, following a sequel that was pretty terrible in its own right. I’m just not convinced that anyone wants to see another Men in Black movie, especially if the reviews are crap.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
Not really.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:13 AM
My friends are either Leonardo people or Raphael people (personally, I’m Leo first). They interchange as 1/2 and then Michelangelo is 3rd based on the comedy, and Donatello is a far, far, far fourth. Hell, Splinter and Casey are above Donatello.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:14 AM

May 16th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
Skyfall
Hobbit
The Master

Argo
May 16th, 2012 at 10:14 AM
Think the video game may be clouding your judgement. Although Raphael was the best swimmer his weapon was useless. Did not even want to rescue him. I would wager no one beat that game in the TBL world.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:15 AM
Other than Wild Wild West (truly horrendous) has Will Smith ever had a big budget bomb at the box office?
May 16th, 2012 at 10:15 AM
wtf? ive had almond milk darker than this coffee before…WHAT THE FUCK DUNKIN DONUTS?
Spencer, I dropped Dunkin Donuts from my rotation a few yrs ago. I used to get a nice medium iced half toasted almond/hazelnut and was great until a couple times when the flavorings were extremely watered down. That was my WTF D&D’s moment. Yeh I know you posted that msg like over 2 hrs ago

Don’t think so. He is as close to a movie star as you can get. In the sense that his movies always does well regardless of quality. His movie does well internationally as well, which is very shocking. One of the big reasons why studios don’t make too many pre-dominately black movies is that they do horrible in international markets. But they love them some will smith overseas.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
Hancock and I, Robot was kinda bombs. But the former made $625M on a $150M budget, and the latter $347M on $120M. So I guess not.
Ali, ironically enough, is the right answer ($87M on a $120M budget). Probably one of his best movies.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
Lincoln (not the vampire one, the Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt one)
Les Miserables
Django Unchained
And I assume Gangster Squad will be around Nov/Dec.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:19 AM
I really just think the producers just found out after watching No Country For Old Men that Josh Brolin looked like a young Tommy Lee Jones and thought they could run with it in a new MIB III storyline.
Yeah, my kids wants to see this.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
well…obviously the DD i went to is substandard, but i have to give the mcd by my office credit. they have a wonderful morning crew that gets shit done.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:20 AM
I’m pissed that they’ve basically given away everything to the plot of Prometheus. The little viral videos were great though.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Just watched the trailer. Has a definite Training Day feel to it. Looks like one I’ll rent, though.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Ugh. I have absolutely zero confidence in this movie. Massive fan of the book and musical but the casting on this thing looks horrific.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:21 AM
Ali cost over a hundred million to make (HOW?) and lost money.
People that liked Ali didnt want to sit for a 2:40 minute movie. That cuts into screening times and didn’t hit up Will Smith’s wheelhouse (young moviegoers – the MIB crowd). IIRC it was also released mainly on 12/25 in a congested winter, so it really didn’t get any traction or Oscar buzz.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:22 AM
Will Smith’s next flick is a M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie starring his annoying kid. Should we put the bomb squad on standby?
May 16th, 2012 at 10:23 AM
I’ll take the watered down DD over Starbucks’ burnt piss any day.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:23 AM

Completely forgot about Lincoln and Django. Those are must sees, too.
May 16th, 2012 at 10:23 AM

May 16th, 2012 at 10:24 AM

Xmas night is a good night to go see movies. But my one friend who would see the Tarantino movies with me might not go, he said I was laughing too loud at all the violence in Kill Bill 1.
